Its fair to say OHMSS and FRWL are hitting most peoples top list, and DAD and TWINE is hitting most peoples bottom list.

Its quite telling that the 60's is still regarded as the peak period, and the 90's Brosnan era as the low period.

It's amazing how many people on here have 3 of Brosnan's movies in their bottom 3 (me included).

I was a bit torn on TND, because it's a pretty good Bond film. For me, DAD, TWINE, FYEO, and MR are definitely bottom four material. The fifth is up for grabs. OP and TMWTGG,

The first time I posted my fives, I leaned more toward my favorites. But we are talking "definitive" which may require more objectivity.

SC and DC are the best Bonds, and so their films make up the "definitive" best five (listed alphabetically):

    CR
    FRWL
    GF
    SF
    TB

The "definitive" bottom five (listed alphabetically):

    DAD
    FYEO
    MR
    TND
    TWINE

I have changed my bottom five since then, FYEO has moved up, and I have gained some respect for it.

    My new bottom five:

    DAD
    MR
    OP
    TND
    TWINE

You need to rewatch OP. One of the best in the series without a doubt.

I'd also say there are worse Brosnan entries than TND.

I will never understand how people have TSWLM in their top 5 but MR in their bottom 5. They are cut from the same cloth - though admittedly I do prefer MR for its superior cinematography and score.

SF and SP are clearly cut from the same cloth but many people consider one a classic and the other a total dud.

TSWLM is clearly superior to MR. Having said that, there's a lot to like about MR. Personally I see it as bottom half of the mid table.

I think the difference is that The Man With The Golden Gun attempted to be something it isn't, whereas Moonraker is shamelessly camp and knows it.

One main problem is that I hate space action.

Well that's something you don't see very often....Spectre at the top of a list and From Russia With Love at the bottom... :-O

Unusual to see TLD in the bottom 5...

Well I just never liked that movie that much: ridiculous part with Necros, bad villain (Whitaker) and exhausting last part in Afghanistan.

Meanwhile I consider LTK to be one of the best Bond films and revolutionary in many ways.

Oh, FRWL isn't the bottom. Maybe unintuitively, I went worst to least worst there. So FRWL is the best of that second list.

But like most Bond fans, I'd like to have about 12 films in my top 5, and only one or two in the bottom 5, if that makes sense!

    TOP 5:

    1. OHMSS
    2. FRWL
    3. GF
    4. CR
    5. SF (replacing YOLT, which drops down to #7)

    BOTTOM 5:

    22. SP
    23. AVTAK
    24. TND
    25. CR’67
    26. DAD

I don’t really like to pick a “bottom” listing of the Bond movies. As I’ve posted before, each of them has merit on some level and I can enjoy each of them – depending on my mood. For example, I enjoy CR’67 for its’ great Burt Bacharach score. And, the lovely Joanna Pettet always sends my heart racing.

In fact, only DAD had me leaving the theater truly disappointed – and some of that displeasure was due to factors external to the movie itself. I was working in the World Financial Center in NYC (across from the old Twin Towers when I saw the movie in early 2003. And the tone on the movie – in part – just struck me as “wrong” (IMO) considering the post 9/11 environment that I saw every day at work. Had DAD been released in 2000, for example, I may have felt somewhat less emotional about it.

Interesting. A lot of people would consider your top 5 as amongst the worst. Nice to see some unusual choices though.

Can't argue too much with your bottom 3. Solid.
