@joshdeese93 what you seem unable to do though is tell fact from fiction. This attack is a real event, that caused the loss of lives. With many more injured. James Bond is a fictional character. Its the reason we all come to this site. But to try and mix a Bond storyline into what has happened in London is uncalled for an insensitive. That fact that you cannot see that comments concerning Bond and what have happened in London are offensive only serve to show how your misjudged opinion.
Perhaps it's my numbness from the country I live in, where these acts of violence occur frequently, but please, give me a break.

I feel very sorry for anyone who doesn't feel anything when one of these attacks occurs, because they happen so frequently. I really do.
I would think long and hard before you post anything else in this discussion.

I'm certainly entitled to my opinion on this forum. There is a difference between posting something that is an honest opinion, seeking feedback from others, and posting to be abrasive, offensive, and insensitive. I surely am not the latter.

You have it so lucky, you know. Of course I feel sorrow when these types of events occur - I major in politics, so I view these angles from many different lenses. But it's very hard having grown up seeing 9/11 at age 8 in my country, followed by years of violent crimes, many gun related, others tied to terrorist activity/inspiration (to a lesser extent, domestically). It's not that I don't feel remorse (I do,) it's the basic psychological fact of compartmentalization, when something happens over and over again, it becomes routine. These acts, of course, should never be routine, let alone be allowed to happen at all.

Rather than getting upset about a simple opinion, perhaps this would be a time to have an open dialogue about where the world stands today. Out of the many forums that I associate with online, MI6 being my favorite, but also the one I am most conflicted with, as the environment can be very hostile at times, due to a simple disagreement of opinion.

I feel that people on this site are upset about my opinion relating to an event in London tying to a Bond storyline, however, if it was some other place or event that happened not so recently, it would be a-ok. I attribute this to tying 9/11 to the Casino Royale plot. 15 years later, it's no longer "too soon," so therefore, it's "ok" to implement in fiction.

Again, Fleming was dark, gritty, and real in his writings. Adding something of this sort isn't to demean those who were affected by this senseless tragedy. Rather, it would be a great segue to a dialogue about the various geo-political and social issues dominating the world today. Lessons we can all learn from. And at the end of the day, a great story to serve as a escapism - if just for a moment - before we go on about our daily lives, pondering the world around us.

Why do you continue to associate Casino Royale with 9/11. Because of the line in the film?
Whilst the film, Casino Royale does include a line concerning 9/11, this thread is not a place to be discussing scenarios for future Bond storylines.
An act of terrorism, with many members of this forum feeling upset and angry at the events that took place in London, or anywhere in the world for that matter is not a place where they want to see some concept to a Bond storyline. It's insensitive and offensive.
    Have some respect.

That's just your reading of it tanaka. Plenty of people disagree with your interpretation of the Old Testament. Even if it was as you say only in relation to the Israelites, it's hardly moral.

I simply agree with Jesus' and the New Testament's interpretation of the Old Testament :)

@joshdeese93 ....you are really pushing your luck here...using what happened in my city for a BOND25 storyline ?
You really are a naive little pratt arnt you ? God help you growing up in this world,if this is your thinking or come to London one day with that attitude, you wont last 5 mins .

And now we're going to start name-calling? Seriously, grow up.

Also, many of you are taking what I said out of context. I never said using what happened for the storyline. An "event" can be anything - I merely said a series of attacks in a series of prominent locations (London/UK would qualify on that score), that would tie to a modern issue facing the world today. Calm down. Stop taking things out of context.

I'm going to stay on the high road and not resort to childish name-calling. I'm sure you're many years my senior. Be an adult. Grow up.

I created this thread. My first post was regarding how the events were somewhat similar to Skyfall. Then folks started jumping on me for it. Didn't ask for all this nonsense (not from you, Tanaka).

If we're going to be using this thread for an intended purpose, I say name-calling and childish behavior/remarks from other members should be the first thing not permitted.

@joshdeese93, I have no intention of entering into a slanging match with you but I feel compelled to say this:

You began this thread with the most insensitive of posts. A post which I don't mind telling you I flagged up to the moderators. Since then you have continued with your tripe. You mentioned you majored in politics. I strongly suggest that you return to college and learn another subject - RESPECT. Your behaviour and your continual references to fiction, and your attempt to somehow intertwine Bond and the tragedy which unfolded in London, tells me more about your personality than perhaps you may care to admit.

Show at least a modicum of empathy and please stop with the Bond references here - people have died, people have been horribly injured, families have been torn asunder. I'm guessing you haven't witnessed death, violent death (and I hope you never have to, because believe me it is not nice, nor cinematic) or else you may have adopted a different attitude to this matter. The people involved in this outrage are real people, not celluloid cut outs and I think it best you remember that going forward,

Just step back and and take an overview of this situation and try to see why people here are upset by some of what you are saying.

    a) Was merely bringing up an idea. b) I gave my sincerest condolences AND apologized to anyone who may have felt my opinion was out of line MULTIPLE times.

What else do you want from me?

I read your initial post - it was in incredibly bad taste if I may say so. I find the best way to deal with childish behaviour and name-calling is simply to ignore it. Rather than getting incensed maybe that's what you should do?

The first thing not permitted is you....childish ?....amazing how you changed your opening post suddenly be so so compassionate compared to the original.
If you believe you are so so right then why didnt you stick to your guns and leave the original post there ?

I've given my apology to people here. If you don't like what I have to say, that's fine, it's within your right. But it's also within my right, as a writer, to have an imagination. With fiction, the story is driven by anything the author puts into it - there is nothing wrong drawing inspiration for stories from events that impact people. This is where lessons are learned from plot.

Folks here may not have liked my initial Skyfall comment - I understand it, I took it back, and apologized. But please don't throw in my face this bilge that I'm wanting to see the horrible events that occurred in the next Bond film.

I merely stated that a geo-political plot in prominent locations relevant to a current-day issue would be interesting, if explored. there is nothing wrong with saying that. I apologized already. If you don't accept it, that's fine. But I've done my part. And I owned up to it.

A bit of obvious trolling, start an argument and keep it going. :(
Made more distasteful given the events, being used. Shameful !

I realized the post about Skyfall was insensitive. However, I will stick to my opinion that current geo-political and social issues should drive the story for a Bond film. I changed the original post because for deleting threads isn't permitted on here.

I'm not a troll at all. What's wrong with expressing my opinion? I respect yours. You don't have to agree with mine, but I should at least have the opportunity to say it.

And if it's thought that I am a troll, why continue responding to me at all? I'll continue defending my point.

And notice that you all have drifted from your implied purpose of the post, coming after me.

As I said I have no intention of entering into a ping pong of comments with you. I have said what I needed to say and have no need to press the matter further. What you said is here for all to see, and personally I do not accept any of your subsequent excuses. As far as I'm concerned, the only way you can possibly hope to redeem yourself is to stop with the fiction references altogether.

Didn't know putting that sort of info out was allowed on here. Making an example of me, I suppose? Might I suggest something a bit more productive, in that this forum desperately needs a revision of it's rules and procedures, in addition to having the ability to delete posts on here.

The photo formatting wasn't looking right on my end. Changed the photos and this one wasn't distorted.
