Another sad reflection of how, in some ways, our culture has delclined re having a backbone. Did families of those killed in the Guildford pub bombings try to get compensation from the landlords for letting them in the pub?

What happened tonight on London Bridge? I just heard a report of a van slamming into five or six people? Any more news?

Nothing yet. Could be a nutter or a pissed idiot. We had one of the latter in Times Square recently I think.

I don't know what time this happened exactly but I would have expected an Islamist to choose rush hour or a busier time of the day.

Running over people and stabbing them sounds awfully what I think it is.

brutal... I haven't been to England in about twenty years. My parents kept their matrimonial home near Epping Forest in Essex; it was where we used to go for summer (my entire family (outside of immediate) were there). They recently sold the house since, according to them, they don't notice areas of London anymore.

The last couple of weeks is a loud warning that whatever is in place to deal with home-grown Islamic fundamentalism is clearly not working. I'm afraid things are going to have to get very ugly if western values of freedom (in all of its states) is to win.

Good luck to all of us.

My mum was 5 minutes away from crossing London Bridge coming back from the Depeche Mode concert. Too close to home. Had me worried since I hadn't heard from her but she managed to call me and says she's perfectly fine.

Thank you. Just heard that there's another incident at Vauxhall. She's trying to get back to Kennington, and so this is likely to delay her. Thinks only a few minutes away.

I can't imagine how you felt, it's so surreal I lived in London during the London bombing it's scary for loved ones and ourselves

Sounds like a single coordinated attack. Van driving into people on London Bridge. Terrorists proceed from van to stab people around Borough Market. Vauxhall incident separate non terrorist related.

Sky have a direct eye witness within a restaurant who is positive that there were five guys, all armed with knives. If this is true, then its another new element to the terrorist threat. Just horrible.

Have lived in London on and off over the years. Not there now. Just picking up whats being reported. I.e there was a stabbing in Vauxhall but not thought to be terrorist related. The terrorist attack seems centred on the south end of London Bridge. Hoping they've killed or arrested them all by now.

Borough Market is full of Victorian alleys and side roads. Nightmare for the Police to clear and declare safe.

Maybe this is related to the London attacks, but I dunno if this happened before or after: In Cardiff, 40 Juventus fans injured on a panicking human avalanche. Some jerk threw a firecracker and caused havoc all over the place.

The expected and tragic side effects of terrorism.

Awful events once again. Watching things like this unfold live on TV is becoming all too familiar.

This is only the beginning. Again I predict that the vermin responsible were known to the police and security services. Had they been removed from the loop as I advocate, then we wouldn't be having this discussion.

I am also guessing that there may be another attack upon the concert tonight, not necessarily at the venue itself, but one of the many choke points leading to it.

    Cue the apologists.............
