Has anyone seen Licence To Kill?
I haven't--and with respect, that would be LICENSE TO KILL 1984.
[One of my first board experiences was being corrected in the reverse for those titles.]

This is a very difficult question, because he's had such a varied career and made so many great films.

I'll say Crimson Tide, just because I love the intensity of his performance there & the film is such a killer.

More recently, Flight stood out as well, and it perhaps was the more compelling acting effort.

@bondjames I'd say Denzel is one of the rare actors that never gave a bad performance. Be it drama, comedy, thriller or action orientated, he is on the top of his game every single time he shows up on screen. I also really like how he has his own trademark body language/speech mannerisms that he brings to each of his roles.

@DaltonCraig007, Denzel is one of the all time greats. No question about it. One of those actors who brings it every time, as you say. Hanks and Cruise are the other two. Their career longevity in an era of fickleness speaks volumes for their greatness.

Interestingly, Hulu is currently streaming many Bond films in its "Bond Collection." In the menu options, they have retitled LTK to the American form:License. It doesn't look right at all. LOL

American Gangster, which is the only watchable film Denzel has made.

    Crimson Tide

Brilliantly tense with a riveting battle of wills between Washington and Gene Hackman.

Great acting from them both, and also with a stellar supporting cast.

Lots of interesting choices, folks. Here's another question:

Which film, if any, offered you a course correction in your personal life?

A Clockwork Orange. It just had to. For me it was a complete epiphany.

Team America: World Police. I saw it in the cinema a while after a long-term relationship broke up, and absolutely howled with laughter for the first time in months. Gave me hope.

    THE ISLAND OF DR. MOREAU

Yes, I am talking about that ridiculous film with Brando, Kilmer and Thewlis. Here's the story. Teenage me was studying for a biology exam on a hot day in June. Biology, including genetics, failed to enthuse me at all, in part because my biology teacher wasn't exactly the most inspirational person around. Also worth mentioning: in just a few months, I would find myself in college and I hadn't even made up my mind yet as to what I was going to specialise in.

Taking a break from all those DNA discussions, I plugged in a movie I had on VHS and which I hadn't seen yet: THE ISLAND OF DR. MOREAU. I had heard of its reputation. It had been promised to be an exceptionally bad film. I needed little encouragement therefore to watch it; nothing soothes a stressed student's mind better than brainless entertainment.

However, the film did one thing right: it somehow showed me, albeit in a very extraordinary way, that molecular genetics can be a fascinating subject. I almost saw myself conducting genetic research on an Island far away. Never mind all the crazy shambles of the film, subconsciously something was triggered in me, an awareness of sorts that my interest in biochemistry and microbiology was a fact.

Lo and behold, I ended up in biochemical engineering and even though I have never set foot on an island populated with genetically engineered animal people, I still vividly recall that day when I woke up hating my biology book with all my heart but went to bed knowing that I had now found a very specific interest to pursue academically.

Without THE ISLAND OF DR. MOREAU, I may never have become the science teacher I am today. :-)

I have seen last eight Bond movies in cinema and i think vijf mean a bit more:

    Goldeneye
    Tomorrow Never Dies
    The World Is Not Enough
    Die Another Day
    Quantum Of Solace

    Harry Potter:

With Harry Potter it is more the fifth and thirth novel. Harry Potter 3 movie can stil have been litle bit better, but it is beautifull filmt movie and can have been much worse. Overall it Directer costume choose, lower budget for production design (Hagrid house location switch) and to short.
The 5th movie is disapointed. To short.

In 2000 i watched Twine and Mission Impossible 2 and started with my dvd collection and Twine be first movie i bought in 2000 and Mi2 in 2001 be second. Also in 2000 i start reading Potter. Original Twine year 1999 i finished with scool. In 2001 i watched first Potter movie and started wit rest of se Bond dvd's and bought rest of soundtracks.

I have seen Chamber of secrets in cinema in 2002, in that same year i also watched Spider-Man in cinema. As fan of animates series and new cinema experience with Jumanji Kirsten Dunst. Die Another Day original 2002 movie, releases in 2003. In 2002 i finished with my last scool.

Quantum of Solace is history lessen in new direction what Tomorrow Never Dies also did and Harry Potter doing.

@DarthDimi Great thread but it's been a while. Can we also post questions or do we have to wait for the OP to ask something?

Once. 2001-A Space Odyssey was showing at the local sci-fi festival which is an annual occurence here. Just as the trippy, psychedelic ending had started, the movie broke down. That is my favourite part of the whole film, and I had brought my son so he could see the film on the big screen, and was looking forward to that sequence in particular.

I think I was the only one who demanded my money back, and I got it.

When I went to see The Truman Show the sound and film were not synchronized and it stopped working after three minutes. The whole audience asked for a refund we got free passes for future movies instead.

My local cinema was notorious for things going wrong.During Forest Gump the reel snapped just as his mum was uttering her last words (surely a godsend!) Die Hard With A Vengeance was presented with the wrong aspect ratio, During Jumanji the heating system started spewing out dangerous fumes and 30 minutes into Alien Resurrection the movie broke down. It was restarted further into the film. That was the final straw. I got my money back and left.

I wouldn't mind but the place was only 6 months old!
