Top 3 Costner movies......

Costner seems to be "floating" a little recently but, in my books, he's an outstanding actor (and director) and still has some classics left in him (he just needs a decent script). I may reconsider but, in no order:

13 Days
Open Range
Dances With Wolves

...though Open Range and 13 Days might also qualify the next time I think about this. Robin Hood - Prince of Thieves probably won't, though...

    That's a challenge!!

The old ones against the new ones. Because there are great new ones.

    Anyway.

    1 The Untouchables
2 McFarland USA (if you have not seen this gem of a film, then please do)
3 The Bodyguard (go and sue me but I LOVE THIS FILM)

Honorable mention because it's one of my most re-watched films of all time:

To this day, Costner is the consummate everyman (along with Hanks).

Never seen Dances with Wolves but it's on my watchlist.

For the moment I like JFK the best, with The Untouchables in second spot. Both among my favourites.

Big fan of Hanks but bigger fan of Costner, I think he is more flexible (Perfect World a good example) and he can do slapstick comedy (Bull Durham, Tim Cup), hard action and political drama.

    Plus Costner can direct :-)

Definately one to watch.....a beautifully made film and a fantastic score by our very own John Barry throughout.

Man of Steel was terrific, but I don t count that as a Kevin Costner movie.

    and The Untouchables

Wish he´d do proper films these days. Where are the days where the likes of Spencer Tracy or Cary Grant had great roles into their hoary days....

    Untouchables

    Dances With Wolves

Perfect World ( I know this is a "small" movie, directed by Clint Eastwood, but I believe it is hands down Costner's best performance.

I enjoyed A Perfect World when it came out. Both Costner and the young lad were very good. Not a typical role for him.

Perfect World is a great film, perhaps the audience were not ready for Costner as the bad guy?

He was pretty bad in Revenge, too.

Does Costner have to be in the lead?

    JFK
(one of my favourite films of all time. Love the bravado of filmmaking from cinematography to editing to music and the paranoid atmosphere)

The Untouchables (Connery and mamet's script. Heaven.)

    Thirteen Days

These three are all excellent movies and I genuinely enjoy his performance. I think they're actually bolstered specifically by his casting. And I really love the dialogue in them. When he's doing that whisper/shouting thing he does so well in 13 days with JFK and says 'they're trying to box you in with these rules of engagement.' And then says 'it's a set-up!'...no one does that better than Costner.

    Honourable mentions to Silverado,
