Yes, the print I'd bigger and more spaced out in the Pan paperback editions of LALD, making the page count higher if not the word count.
True. Funnily enough, Geoffrey Holder would have been excellent for the part! The film of LALD made a mistake dividing the role between him and Kotto. Holder's voice would have marvelously suited those monologues about accidie and Cellini...
He played Baron Samedi.
I also love how delightfully gory his demise is, too; a behemoth of a man with an unfathomable amount of influence cut (and chomped) down to size.
