    I'm all for continental European Bond girls, although I still think the entirely English (I think) girls in Goldeneye were amongst the best. Excellent contenders from Europe of course include the delightful Eva Green, a Frenchie with some English ancestry. Which brings me to Berenice M, about whom I have my doubts. Get the feeling she's just going to be eye candy frankly, which is not necessarily a bad thing.

    Since this was posted by germanlady, I am trying to think if there has ever been a German Bond girl. If not, why not?!

    Entirely English ? Izabella Scorupco is from Poland, and Fammke Jansen from the Netherlands. As for Berenice Marlohe, I'm afraid I've never heard of her before her casting was announced. But I don't watch the TV shows she's done, so...

    I'm still trying to figure out if she just drank someone's blood or stuck her face in a chocolate cake...

    Anyways, I'm happy to see another French Bond girl. I hope her character will be French as well.

    Indeed, the three main girls are all british (BTW, I saw Blood of Fu Manchu the other day. Small part for Shirley, but not her best movie, by a long shot).

    I'm going to start a new thread to work out which countries and continents the Bond girls came from and from this scientifically deduce which is the best source of Bond girls. Genius.

    I certainly like the looks of this girl. I'm excited to see where she takes the Bond girl part in SF.

    Looks alone do not make a Bond girl, as Denise Richards demonstrated.

    I don't see anything here to recommend her. The chocolate face looks plain disturbing. Although it's preferable to Brozza's pain face.

    However, if Mendes cast her she must have something going for her.

She looks terribly artificial, comes across as very insecure and just all smiles, nothing else...still, like you said, Mendes is no idiot and must see something in her, that fits the part.

    If Sam got the job a few years back we could've had Kate Winslet, my dream Bond girl. Though, if Sam directs another post-Skyfall, I could see him using Kate. I do believe they are on friendly ground after their divorce.

    Or Rebecca Hall, that would be even better. Should Mendes stay and Skyfall be a great film, Bond 24 will really have a lot of positive buzz going into it, I think. I'd love that and it could be needed as for a long time now, we've never known what the next Bond film would be, in any way.

    She is probably still "all naturelle" but to me doesn't have a natural look. Maybe its that broad smile, she brings on every other minute. And yes, its most likely unfair to call her insecure, when everybody in her situation would be. Not bashing her as a person, but I liked all 4 recent Bondgirls from the start and this didn't happen with her - yet. I am open for her to blow me away with her performance.

    Most of my favourite Bond girls have been European. Ursula Andress, Claudine Auger (also French), Luciana Paluzzi.

    Maybe choosing a European Bond girl who is reminiscent of the early Connery Bond girls was a deliberate choice, the producers said this is going to be a classic Bond.

    I think she's reminiscent in the way that she's European and she's more classically attractive. Maybe the facial structure? It's like Denise Richards as a Bond girl was in no way similar to the early Bond girls. I'm not sure what it is about Berenice, she just reminds me of the early girls. Though you're right, nothing holds up to them.

    God yes, I was thinking about any German actress being in there. Such a beauty, sadly underused in the film, as she was killed off way too early.

    Many people come off as shy and insecure but when it comes to doing their job of what ever profession they're in, they're pretty amazing it, especially actors and singers. Michael Jackson was the greatest performer that ever lived and on stage he was forcefully colossal; off the stage he was astonishingly shy and insecure.

    You are right, DC being one of them, also.
    Like I said, Mendes must see something in her, which I don't and although being far from trusting, there is a good chance, she will fit in nicely.

    Fair enough, but then the same applies to the likes of Sophie Marceau and Eva Green, no? :)
