James Bond 50th Anniversary Figure Sets

edited November 2011 in Merchandise Posts: 172
One big wish for Bond 50th would be to see a series of figures Dr Who type for example. Or film figure boxsets for example YOLT set include Bond, Kissy, Blofeld or TLD Bond, Kara, Whitaker.

This is just an idea to toy with.

The Wishlist

Dr No Set - Bond, Honey, Dr No
FRWL - Titania, Grant, Klebb
GF - Pussy, Goldfinger, Oddjob
TB - Domino, Largo, Bond diving version
YOLT - Blofeld, Kissy, M
OHMSS - Bond, Tracy, Blofeld
DAF - Tiffany, Q , Blofeld
LALD - Bond, Solitaire, Kananga
TMWTGG - Scaramanga, Goodnight, Moneypenny
TSWLM - Anya, Stromberg, Gogol
MR - Drax, Holly, Jaws
FYEO - Melina, Kristatos, Columbo
OP - Kamal, OP, Gobinda
AVTAK - Bond, Zorin, Stacy
TLD - Bond, Whitaker, Kara
LTK - Sanchez, Felix, Pam
GN - Bond, Trevelyan, Natalya
TND, Carver, Wai Lin, M
TWINE - Renard, Zukovsky, Jones
DAD - Graves, Jinx, Zao
CR - Bond, Le Chiffre, Vesper
QOS - Greene, Camille, Medrano

Again just an idea & it would be nice to know who you would buy if any?

Nice idea but remember they released Sideshow 007 figures a few years back. I only managed to get Tee Hee & Scaramanga though.

Maybe Sideshow could create a few sets similar to your idea.

I would love to have a YOLT Blofeld, Red Grant, Melina (gorgeous Bond girl) & any classic character.

Also are you referring to the Dr Who figures that have been released since 2005 or earlier ones?

They had a collectors set that was a sellout containing all the doctors. Maybe that idea could work for a Bond set & more cheaper for us collectors.

  • i really wish they could do a 7in figure of virtually every character going much like the excellent neca and mcfarlane figures ranges

Yeah, I like this idea! It would definitely be a neat thing to see happen. Maybe there could be waves of the figures, like by film as said before or maybe by class, like Bonds, Villains, Henchmen, Girls, Allies, that kind of thing.

I really hope some nice collectables like this are released next year, I suppose we should here something on the subject soon. Fingers crossed.

I really hope so too and James Bond is just as popular as Dr Who in the collectable market.

I have heard about Mc farlane but I would root for boxsets ie Allies, villains same as 00Beast's idea.

Is there any figure makers out there we could send in our ideas to?

Well the world has seen great figures ie Dr Who, He-Man, Thundercats make a comeback so more pressure is needed to get our message across for Bond.

I can't see any figure company making a loss if they made them similar to the way you suggest or perhaps make a few different boxsets.

Can I ask just for fun who'd be your top 10 figures?

Good idea. Who'd be your top 10 characters to see make it to plastic form?

The Dr Who boxset maybe a useful example to gain support from the Bond diplomats.

Again who'd be your top 10 if had to pick?

top 10 7 inch Action figures (and this is harder then it looks)

    1. Daniel Craig as James bond 007 in tux from Casino Royale
    2. Telly Savallas as Ernst Stavro Blofield in On Her majesties Secret Service (with Cat)
    3. Robert Shaw as Red grant in From Russia with love
    4. Desmond Llewellen as Q in licence to Kill
    5. Bernice Marhole as Sévérine in Skyfall
    6. Bernard Lee as M in Dr. No
    7. Richard Keil as Jaws in The spy who loved me
    8. Denise Richards as Dr Christmas Jones in the world is not enough (I love her I'm sorry but as a 13 year old boy seeing Denise Richards on the big screen well I have fond memories of her still)
    9. Jane Seymour as Solitaire Live and Led Die
    10. Jeffery Wright as Felix Leiter in Quantum of Solace or The Hildebrand rarity (bond 24.. I wish)

And there you have it but honestly I want all the main allies villains and girls and all 6 bond to have action figures and in the case of the 6 bond's multiple figures.

How cool would it be for a toy company to make a fully detailed miniature of the famous Ken Adam's villain's laires? They could easily do this with the Dr. No laire, the hallowed out Volcano or the Submarine base from TSWLM. I haven't seen this before with Bond, but they did this with the Star Wars toys. Imagine having your own Piz Gloria and bringing it outside when it snows and recreating the ski chase downhill? *Feeling like a kid again*

That would be so cool to see model sets.

You gave me a quick flashback to the 80's when I remember getting the MASK Boulder Hill playset.

That was such a cool toy to have back in the day & I used to pretend it was Blofeld's volcano. I remember there was a good guy that came with the set but as he was bald again I pretended he was Blofeld.

You probably think I'm crazy using MASK figures as Bond characters but I was kid then and like most had that kind of imagination.

    Like your idea though.

    Nice list you got there.

Robert Shaw, Bernard Lee, Telly Savalas are my top 3 of your list.

What size of figure would you like or not fussy? Dr Who type or maybe McFarlane size?

I'm thinking Dc direct size, and Don't worry whittaker as a little kid i was into Power Rangers when i realized how ridiculous they were (at 12) I re purposed the ninja action figures as an elite ninja squad working for Ra's Al Ghul so sometimes they would be good sometimes they would be bad.

When I wanted -007 I used legos I did ski sequences car chases the whole nine yards :D

Your list is cool but I would go one up on some of the films. More memorable characters:
    DAF Kidd and Wint
YOLT Aki she was a bigger character than Kissy
    AVTAK May Day of course
    TWINE Elektra please!

Anyone have the 25th anniversary deck of cards.....they have friggin Sutton on them but no Zorin , what gives ?

Here's hoping there will be a 50th anniversary set , this time WITH Zorin , Blofeld et al.

Playset era is gone......I don't think that tradition is coming back but you can bet I'd buy volcano , Drax pyramid or Zorins mine !!

    Top ten characters for figures?

    - Connery as Bond
    - Lazenby as Bond
    - Moore as Bond
    - Dalton as Bond
    - Brosnan as Bond
    - Craig as Bond
    - Lee as M
    - Pleasance as Blofeld
    - Shaw as Grant
    - Llewelyn as Q

I don't think just ten will cut it. There are too many memorable characters!

@Tracy: Yeah, the playset thing would be awesome! I could see a big Fort Knox playset with Bond, Oddjob, Goldfinger, Kisch, a couple of Asian thugs, and a couple of US soldiers. Or maybe the Stealth Boat with Bond, Wai Lin, Carver, Stamper, and Gupta.

As for single figures, I'd like to see these for allies and villains, at least for a first wave:

    Allies:
    -Felix Leiter: preferrably David Hedison
    -Quarrel
    -Kerim Bey
    -Tiger Tanaka
    -Marc Ange Draco
    -Valentine Zukovsky
    -Milos Colombo
    -Kamran Shaw

Villains (maybe in packs as main villain in henchman):
    -Dr. No and Professor Dent
    -Rosa Klebb and Red Grant
    -Auric Goldfinger and Oddjob
    -Emilio Largo and Fiona Volpe
-Ernst Stavro Blofeld and Mr. Osato
    -Blofeld and Irma Bunt
    -Blofeld, Wint, and Kidd
-Dr. Kananga, Tee Hee, and Baron Samedi
    -Scaramanga and Nick Nack
    -Stromberg and Jaws
    -Drax and Jaws
    -Kristatos and Erich Kriegler
-Kamal Khan, General Orlov, and Gobinda
    -Max Zorin and May Day
    -Koskov, Whitaker, and Necros
    -Sanchez and Dario
    -Trevelyan, Ourumov, and Xenia
    -Carver and Stamper
    -Elektra King and Renard
    -Gustav Graves, Miranda, and Zao
    -Le Chiffre and Gettler
    -Greene and Medrano
  • These would be the ten I'd want, in no particular order (they're kind of weird):
    -Dalton as Bond (tuxedo)
-Lazenby as Bond (gotta be the kilt)
    -Telly Salavas as Blofeld
    -Geoffrey Holden as Baron Samedi
-Diana Rigg as Tracy (either ice-skating outfit or riding outfit)
-Jane Seymour as Solitaire (headdress outfit)
-Claudine Auger as Domino (black swimsuit with the mesh cutouts)
-Ursula Andress as Honey (bikini of course)
-Famke Janssen as Xenia (combat outfit)
-Caterina Murino as Solange (red dress)
  • forget about Medrano(he was in the figure set in QoS, as a part of "Organisation" game :-) ), remember Oona Castilla {Chaplin} ("maid" in QoS, girl saved by girl :-) )

I can see a figure set just like the car collection out now.
This will come with a magazine and figure, and will go on for years, with one figure every 2 weeks. You will need a spare room and bottom less pockets as they will bring out figures of soldiers, sailors etc as well as all the characters that we know and love.

Thats a nice list. Alot to get but still look what they did with those Bond car collection magazines.

Could the possibility of a similar idea but with figurines be looked at? 007 figurine + magazine collection.

Gee thanks it makes me feel younger with those wose words.

The boulder hill set is as close to Blofeld's volcano for any collector out there.

One could modify it & make similar to the crater but it would be have to be skilled customizers to try this.

Yep that is a nice idea to submit to the Bond Diplomats.

I think Eaglemoss or a company similar could be ideal to approach with Bond.

Eaglemoss have done a FAB job with the Marvel figurines/magazine collection.

im liking the idea of that figure magazine! I hope sideshow will release a further series of 12" figures and 1/4 scale too! however? i dont want them to take an easy option by releasing figures that they have already done in there 40th anniversary sets. new unreleased charactors please as lets face it? there is plenty to choose from!!!! lol

Movie sets would probably be the best route to take. For instance, each movie includes the Bond for that movie, the main villain (except in OP, TLD, and QoS, where two are needed), their primary henchman (maybe two in the case of LALD or GE), the main girl, and the main ally. Take Dr. No for example:
    -Sean Connery 007
    -Dr. No
    -Professor Dent
    -Honey Rider
    -Quarrel

5 would be good for a start, and then others could be added later.

That sounds like a good plan as well.

Is there no official company or Bond person we could email this suggestions to?

Michael Wilson or Barbara Brocolli or other?

Sure they would be as popular as ever. Dr Who is big but Bond is massive in scale so bring on the characters of Bond in plastic form.

    Keep wishing.

Oh I'm certainly keen on Domino (my fav bond girl) no allies, baddies you want?

The rest are interesting choices too.

Similar to my username I really would like Whitaker with perhaps armoured gun & complete with removable beret.

I see there is a Julian Glover figure available in new Dr Who set in Forbidden Planet.

Any good customizers out there want to try turing him into Aris Kristatos?

Can't be too difficult to do or is it?

Does anybody recall a few years ago Corgi displaying a new line of figures from Casino Royale and Quantum of Solace at i think a german toyfair? If i recall correctly they said there would be a 7" and 9" inch range and also a range of busts? The ones exampled were of Bond and Vesper and looked pretty good!

I'm guessing it did not happen at the time due to financial pressures? But with the 50th anniversary approaching are they revitalising the line for next year? I remember an article on MI6 about them, got excited about them and then they didn't happen? :((
