I had the idea to turn QoS into a short that continues/wraps up a couple threads from
Casino Royale, namely Vesper's boyfriend and the question of whether Mathis is a traitor. I love Mathis, so I hated that they suggested he was a traitor in CR (even though I understand this was necessary to divert Bond’s suspicion away from Vesper). Then I was happy they cleared Mathis’ name in QoS… and then they killed him! Booo. In my edit, his name is cleared and he hangs out with Bond for a bit. That’s it.
I've put together a rough cut of the short. It's not perfect, and I'm probably not going to take it beyond a rough cut into something polished and perfected. But I thought it would be fun to share, it was an interesting experiment.
If you want to read an outline of the short before watching:
Car chase.
- Not edited any, except for replacing some shots with title cards.
Safehouse.
- Bond puts Mr. White in the safehouse.
- Fade out after M says “You will tell us who you work for, and the longer it takes the more painful we’ll make it.”
Bond visits Mathis.
- Added “Field Trip” from QoS soundtrack.
- Mathis asks why Bond is visiting. Cut to:
Bond and M at safehouse.
- Flashback showing Bond and M discussing Vesper’s boyfriend Yusef. Cut back to:
Bond visiting Mathis.
- Bond and Mathis talk about Vesper.
- Then Bond asks Mathis to accompany him somewhere. I am trying to make it seem like Bond has just told Mathis about Yusef, and he wants Mathis to accompany him to confront Yusef. But it’s not quite clear. (This is the short's weak spot IMO.)
Bond and Mathis on plane.
- Bond drunk, chats with Mathis. Cut Mathis talking about pills.
Russia.
- Bond confronts Yusef. Added “Forgive Yourself” from QoS soundtrack.
- Cut conversation with M.
- Added “Inside Man” from QoS soundtrack as Bond walks away.

Hope you enjoy. Any and all comments are welcome!

They could've stuck to this while the Writer's Strike was promising a start. They could've held back (and by George, stay away from the shakycam Bourne pastiche) and came up with a genuine storyline that was as original as Royale.
Love it. Nice editing.
P.s. I miss Arnold's scores
I'm not much of an Arnold fan, but he does have some great tracks. I really like "Field Trip" and "Inside Man" from QoS, which is why I used them in the short.
