I'd be open to Said Taghmaoui in a villain capacity, but not as the main villain though. He's impressed me in everything I've seen him and has a certain screen charisma.
Having said that, I can't see how he will be chosen now that he has mentioned it so openly. Perhaps they are changing the casting choices on account of Boyle's departure, and so his participation is up in the air (or even cancelled), leading to him commenting?
Anyway, he's a good choice as a secondary villain imho.
Diane Lane
Winona Ryder
I have seen him in quite a few of his minor roles. You are right to say he has a certain charisma and on screen presence. Where I disagree is that I think he would make an excellent lead villain. He has impressed me with the menace he can portray in roles. I think that Bond has been in the past where you make a name for yourself rather than being a name when you come in. I think this leads to a greater investment by the actors and crew as they know this could change their career entirely.
Also I know in the past it has been the kiss of death to talk about a Bond role before the official release but I hope this proves to be the exception.
(2011) 4th movie i have with him. If iam correct David O. Russell whas on eon list as directer a whyle a go cast and him in Three Kings from 1999. Big quistion is, are there not to late because Wonder Woman ask him first.
Like it it a lot to see Stephanie Sigman in Swatt and John Rhys Davies whyle it take some time get his fame too after TLD and Sliders.
According to screenrant he may still have the part
Biggest missed opportunity of Spectre the movie was that he should have been the one revealed as Blofeld at the end, taking over from Franz Oberhauser after his capture. (And he more accurately fits Fleming’s description of Blofeld in the books than any of his predecessors).
It’s still an exciting new dynamic, to have the main villain be someone who we have already seen beat Bond in a fight without a private army to protect him. And it’s logical. After his performance at the last board meeting, no-one in SPECTRE would dare challenge his appointment.
I support this.
No one would have to call him 'Jaws' but it would be heavily implied. Audiences wouldn't even need much explanation if they can't quite recall him from Spectre. He's just someone that Bond has a bit of history with, who now wants to get some revenge. Plus, Hinx looked great in a suit.
Bautista has been killing it recently. He was great in his small role in Blade Runner (conveying melancholy and menace in his brief screentime). He's hilarious and scene-stealing in all his Marvel films. It's definitely in Eon's advantage to bring him back.
I never understood the whole 'thumb nail' thing - it never felt exciting or weird enough to be a 'henchmen' trait.
Meanwhile, it's slightly hard for me to imagine Saïd Taghmaoui as a villain, as I only see his character in La Haine (which is a fantastic film). But he's this overzealous, wannabe gangster who is more of a source of embarrassment for his friends. Though in recent photos, he does look evil. However, I think we know that Boyle wanted a Russian villain over a Middle Eastern baddie. So wasn't Taghmaoui always out of contention, unless he had a smaller role as another character (I can't imagine him as the lead villain).
Yes, he was.
How about Matthias Schoenaerts?
What about Winstone?
I've always been partial to Jeremy Irons. He might be a bit old now, but a few years back he would have been great, even as Blofeld.
I recommend The Departed. He played a evil no nonsense henchmen to Jack Nicholson's bad guy. He held his own against Jack.
For suggestions not linked directly to the main villain role in Bond 25.
