Mahershala Ali's a great shout for a villain at some point - not least because Eon has a penchant for casting recent Oscar-winners these days. And, of course, Cumberbatch is crying out to be cast as a villain. Some say for Bond himself but that's an entirely different discussion, of course.

Personally, I'm still holding out hope for David Suchet to be cast as a suitable 'big bad' type (he's still just about not too old ;) ). Indeed, had they decided to go another way with the reintroduction of Blofeld (i.e. older), he could have been ideal.

    Over exposed IMHO

He was also utterly unconvincing as Khan.

Not Cumberbatch, Lars Mikkelsen! It's a video, not a pic :)

David Suchet may be too old now for a main villain, but as a Mr. White type of character? Yes, please!

Sorry - I could not find any YOLT thread or Blofeld thread for this. I thought it was interesting enough to share, so here you go:

Donald Pleasence saved the movie. He was the best Blofeld. The next Blofeld should have a gold tooth, in homage to the novel YOLT.

Idris Elba with a Gold tooth. And as a Twist he should try to steal Bond´s identity. Thus we would have nice continuity with the personal Connections :-).

If Donald Trump could act he'd be the perfect villain. Or Kevin Spacey

I don't think Kevin Spacey will be acting for quite some time, alas.

For some reason, I keep comng back to mature, USA actresses,

Robin Wright was a good call,

    Demi Moore?

If we're going for mature, how about Charlotte Rampling or Kristin Scott Thomas (have you seen her in Only God Forgives? But, come to think of it, she's the main villain in another newly born franchise, right?)? Rambling would be superb in a Red Sparrow kind of role.

Sharon Stone could play a highly intelligent criminal mastermind.

Good call re SS, we need a good balance of mature sex appeal but also an air of threat/menace. She would be great IMHO.

Sharon Stone is a bit passee. And overrated imo.

Yes to both. Had OHMSS been made in the 70's, Rampling would have been my dream choice for Tracy.

Stone should have been a Bond girl back in the day. Though I wouldn't object to her as a mature female villain now.
  • I wouldn't mind Sharon as a villain.

What about Sam Elliott? I saw A Star is Born and he has the presence for a villain.

I'd rather they didn't go for a big star for the villain, and if they must I'd honestly prefer non-American, at least when it comes to a Bond film.

Stone could work for a Kingsman film certainly.

Words of wisdom. Have relative unknown veterans as villains. I'd even go as far as saying preferably non anglophone. But if they must be British, cast the likes of Simon Russell Beale or Ciaran Hinds.

Tom Cruise for villain? Rogue agent.

    My top choices:

    François Cluzet
    Jason Isaacs
    Gérard Depardieu
    Charles Dance
    Iain Glen
    Liam Cunningham
    Michael Gambon
    Richard Armitage
    Lars Mikkelsen

I'd keep Depardieu as far from Bond as possible.
  • I've always thought Johnny Depp would be terrific. He's had a very rough few years and his star has most certainly fallen from the A-list. However, he could have a slightly redemptive arc play out with 'Fantastic Beasts' this fall. However, there has been a considerable amount of controversy over his casting (this may only escalate in the coming weeks as the film comes out). But he's definitely much more attainable and affordable. Plus he looks very villainous these days...

But he's probably a PR nightmare that Eon would want to avoid.

Vincent Cassel would still be a wonderful choice.

Sir Patrick Stewart would have been the perfect Blofeld a few years ago, sadly he is probably too old now.

I would prefer a 'medium' name, like one of these two to a flat out huge star, or a flavour of the month such as Waltz.

Too toxic these days, going from one controversy to another. Too friendly with Putin. Accused of rape. Overrated as well.

I think Kevin Spacey's been acting on and off the screen for a very long time, alas.

In other news, Forrest Whitaker's another great shout. Could really deliver proper menace and cruelty, combined with a nice line in weirdness. Such a talented thesp.

Certainly disagree About the overrated bit. Also, we should be careful with People who are accused of rape and not proved, since it has become a bit of a Fashion These days to accuse a man of rape.
