Thought this would be cool. I know a lot of people who have been extras in movies and tv shows, or people who act in theater and stage performances. So post what you have acted in and the stories behind it.

I have been a stage actor for about 8-10 years. I was in A Christmas Carol & Salado Legends (A Civil War melo-drama, was a top ranked play in the US or something).

My former basketball teammate has his own film business. He has a ton of HD cameras, cranes and camera mounts. He does sports and weddings but has decided to do a short shoot'em up film. Im working with him on a plot and helping out and may act in it, but it would be the first real on-camera thing iv done, so im excited about that!

I'm more of a director. I directed a homework project for some of my friends last semester :P Quite proud of it considering I was brought on an hour in advance.

But I can act.. its not a difficult concept of mine to grasp. I've had this video idea with one of my pals lingering in movie-limbo for quite some time. That will probably come to fruition pretty soon though.

This could be an interesting thread, I'm curious as well. I've been apart of independent films and local comedy shows, nothing mainstream.

i've never acted in anything per say - i was an extra in an indy flick which I was 2nd AD on..

i've done directing work for the Cleveland International Film Festival, as well as my own short film "The Harvesters".. but nothing acting wise... i did originally have my Hitchcock walk on scene planned in The Harvesters, but the scene had to be scrapped for time :(
  • I played the flaming Chinese guy in DAF.

Good topic idea. You guys should post some of your work here if its online!

I am a film student, i've been making movies since i was about 7. I want to direct or produce. Ive been in a couple small local film festivals. I'm actually shooting one next week and hopefully sending it to a bunch of bigger festivals around the country... Assuming it turns out well... It's my last film in college and i'm horrified because I don't know how I will make movies anymore.... without spending thousands among thousands of dollars...which I don't have. :(

MGW or Babs, if you're reading, hire me please!

As far as original topic goes, i haven't acted much although i would like to try it.
  • Interesting to see how many of the people here are interested in acting in or creating films. Was that brought on by Bond or was Bond just one of many films that made you love film?

Besides that, no experience here. Sorry. ;;)

I've done a bit of extra work. The most exciting was on Clint Eastwoods Tightrope. I'm in the scene where Clint's character searches in a brewery for the killer. I walk by right in back of him. I'm dressed in a white labcoat and holding a clipboard. It was great to meet Mrr. Eastwood. He was very relaxed and personable. It was also fantastic to watch him work.

I have also been in several rock/punk bands as the lead guitaries & backup vocals. We were set up to tour in and around Texas. Like Austin and Dallas for example but never did do to scheduling conflicts. I have been playing guitar since I was 8 years old and im almost 18.

I would say Bond was one of the many films that made me love film. I was making movies before i was introduced to 007.

I have to say Quentin Tarantino showed me the power and vibe a film could have, and I've wanted to do it ever since I saw Kill Bill at the age of 10 :P
  • I've done a bit of extra work here and there-- but the only time I can think of where you can actually SEE me-- and really tell that it's me-- was in The Wire. They filmed that in Baltimore near where I lived so I was an extra in that about 4 times.
I've also done my share of plays-- mostly in college, but I most recently had the lead in Grease, and that was cool because it was actually a paid gig!
Perhaps most exciting of all though: my old friend from college is trying to put together a BATMAN film, much in the same vein as 'Dead End', and he wants ME to be Batman!! I'm so hopeful that this actually gets made! Sounds like a ton of fun too! He saw some pictures of me after college (that summer I was between jobs so I was Batman at Six Flags) and he called me right up!

Well, I started out just messing around with friends doing comedy skits, then on the video taping Live music performances, then weddings and over the years it developed into a career. I do TV Commercials and Music Videos full time now, among other things, design, programming, blah, blah.

Here is some of my old footage that got me started, oh the memories. haha,

    2007 Demo Reel

2008 Demo Reel (a lot of the same material from 07', just reworked)

Also Note: these are with my old amateur cameras, but it did the job at the time. R.I.P. Panasonic Awesomeness. Was my favorite cam at the time, haha.

I don't get as must freedom as I'd like though, I would love to devote all my time to get into film, I admire the people who do. It's a real cut throat business for sure.

I've written several scripts, just never have time for anything, I'm always focused on my business, but I'm not giving up on the idea. Sometimes it's just about doing what you love rather than hesitating about the obstacles in your way. If you want to be a director or an actor, don't let anything or anyone stand in your way. So simple of a quote that rings true: "Where there's a will there's a way."

    Great Thread!

    Cheers!

I doubled for Jonathan Cake in the mini-series "Mosley" in a fencing scene - my 15 seconds of fame! Sadly, I wasn't around to be an extra on the DAD fencing scene.

I want to become either a film director or actor, i do GCSE Drama at school, and i have often been called a great actor (Even some of the other pupil's favourite ;o). I'm also directing/writing/filming, with a very short role, a new short-film that i've been working on for over a year now, i've got a cast, with some talented actors/actress', a good script, all of the equipment i need, locations etc. along with almost six years filming experience on my side :)

when i was broke student, i was struggling to pay my fees, so i decided and I'm not proud of this, is to act in some dodgy films. I've bought most of the titles off the shelf but the internet has seen to that. They're up there forever now....

Stop or my milf will shoot off

    DAD - Do another Dude

    Assino Royale

    ooh ooh ooh 7 times

Nah not really - I've written and directed 5 tv ads - one for Ford Europe and one for Continental Tyres - the rest are for smaller brands.
