"He-Man movie was not like the toon"

Fair enough but I thought it was refreshing as this HM seemed vulnerable , yes he was vicious but this was a character that could actually die in combat

I didnt mind the new characters (Blade , Saurod , Karg & Gwildor) either , was refreshing to see new faces (Orko was in virtually all the toon episodes)

I didnt mind the earth setting either as a fish out of water kinda story , wouldve been nice to see more of Eternia but they did the best they could with low budget

I agree 100%. No argument with that.

In Star Wars, I was more sad when Qui Gon Jinn died, then I was when Obi Wan Kenobi died in the original.

I agree. I would also say that Ewan McGregor was a better Obi Wan than Alec Guinness.

    Me too!

But only because I was only four or five years old at the time and in the cinema, watching my first ever SW film...

Oh boy I sure wasn't. Qui Gon lost a fair fight against a guy who had done nothing more than stand around looking mean. Darth Mail had little to no impact over the plot at this point and unlike Darth Vader had not been well established as a villain. And Qui Gon was not exactly the warm, caring Jedi Knight Obi Wan Kenobi was in the original trilogy. When he dies, what's significance has his death?

Yeah, I agree and I'm not even a huge Star Wars fan. Obi Wan also had the advantage of being in the original film of the original and had a presence. Qui Gon was just kinda' there. Like Obi Wan, we had no association with him before his first film, but there was something about him that Qui Gon didn't have.

His death was sad, but not devastating. His presence didn't hang around the way Obi Wan's did after his death.

This is controversial. I consider Halloween 3, 4, 5, and 6(producers cut) far superior to H20. Also, I think Rob Zombie's second Halloween was better than his first.

I got 10 minutes into number 5 and that was enough crap for me.

I unfortunately saw Zombie's appalling remake so saying the second one is better is hardly a recommendation.

To each their own. Personally, I despise the first Zombie Halloween. The only reason I prefer the second is because it's a new story that doesn't shit on a classic like the first did. And the white trash BS is toned down.

It's a shame A Christmas Story wasn't a big hit when it came out. I feel it should have won an Oscar nomination at least for Best Production Design. The details and accuracy of the 1940s in that movie are phenomenal.

Whatever Michael Apted said, Renard is the main villain of TWINE. And even though he ended up lacklustre, his name is really, really cool and Flemingesque.

One of my favourite Christmas films. You're right @MaxCasino the production design is spot on (apart from the mum's 80's perm!)

I just love the way it embraces the Christmas feeling. The Christmas morning scene is beautifully done. And that wonderful final shot of the parents sitting at the window watching the snow fall is just magical.

Amen to all that! It's probably my all time favorite movie. Like it or not, we can all relate to it.

You didn’t feel tension throughout the film?

I consider No Country for Old Men to be one of the best films of the past twenty years. Mainly because of Javier Bardem.

Better make that 2, sorry but I find Alien 3 more satisfying especially in the Assembly Cut.

I think I possibly watched Aliens too much when I was younger, don't get me wrong it's a rollicking roller-coaster of a ride of a film and I do enjoy a watch from time to time but I think Terminator is Cameron's best film.

Alien 3 shows even then what an immense talent Fincher would become.

    Alien towers over them all.

Agree with your last line. Alien is stunning. I believe it's being re released in the cinema.
I only recently learned that John Hurt was a last minute replacement for Jon Finch on the movie!

    Controversial opinion:

Jeremy Renner was far superior in THE BOURNE LEGACY with style, charm, and wit than Matt Damon was in any of the other BOURNE films.

Not being a huge fan of that franchise it's safe to say I probably don't really know what I'm talking about. I never read the BOURNE novels .Don't know how faithful the films are, etc etc.

However, I did like THE BOURNE LEGACY more than the other films. Still haven't seen the latest, though.
