Likewise those that spell words (e.g. the late magician Paul Daniels' famous MAG1C plate) have a high value because of their rarity.
All of which is totally lost in the US where each of the 50 states has its own system and the plates can say almost anything, meaning that no particular combination of letters/numbers has any real value.
