While neither LALD or Kananga are among my favorites, Yaphet Kotto's performance scared me as a kid and still comes across as powerful now. Whether he's threatening Bond as himself or Mr. Big or his outburst at Solitaire, then his weird change to charming in the final scenes, it's a highlight of the film and rising in my rankings the more I think about it.

He was one of those actors whose presence made a film more interesting. I'm surprised Tarantino never included him in one of his films like Jackie Brown or something. He'd have just fit comfortably in that universe.

I think that Tarantino was only interested in directing Casino Royale so that he could direct the follow up: Live and Let Die, with his trademark style and favorite word.

Met mr Kotto at HS '15 , RIP (like Lonsdale pretty low key)

Wow, He was someone i would have dearly loved to have met. RIP
  • I only knew Yaphet Kotto from Live and Let Die and Alien, but what an incredible two films to have been a part of and Kotto gave fantastic performances in both. It says something to share the screen with such talent and yet leave such a memorable impression.

Paul Ritter, the very talented drama and comedy actor, best known to Bond fans as Guy Haines in Quantum of Solace (but also to UK film and TV audiences for many great appearances), has very sadly passed away at only 54.

Gutted to hear about Paul Ritter. He was utterly brilliant in "Friday Night Dinner" and other things too. Very sad news.

    RIP Paul Ritter.
  • Would have liked to have seen more of Guy Haines. As news. Mr Ritter gave one of the best comedic performances of recent times in the ace Friday Night Dinner.

Very sad news about the passing of Paul Ritter. His role as Guy Haines was small but significant enough to make him memorable. It's a pity he wasn't utilized further. RIP.

I guess nobody will ever get to ask Paul about his (in)famous deleted ending for QOS. Will we ever know what exactly was going to happen there?

I was shocked to hear this awful news yesterday. Paul Ritter was absolutely hilarious in Friday Night Dinner.
I only realised Paul was Guy Haines until I read it on BBC News! Great to know there was a Bond connection.
    RIP Paul Ritter

He was. An excellent performance in one of the best mini-series I've ever seen.

    RIP Mr Ritter

Sad to hear about Paul, he was a fantastic actor and a very, very funny individual. Of course, despite his short appearance, he also got to appear in one of my favorite Bond installments. RIP, Mr. Ritter.

He's in the alternate ending that I'll forever want to see but will surely never see the light of day. What a shame.

Helen McCrory, who played MP Clair Dowar in SF amongst many other roles, has died from cancer at 52. What an awful shock; a superb actress.

I didn't know until today she was married to Damian Lewis, either.

Damn, that's way too young. Was just thinking of her the other day. I thought, and hoped she was going to play Moneypenny in SF. Loved her in Penny Dreadful and Doctor Who.

Oh man, that's so devastating. I really, really loved her in Peaky Blinders, going to be crushing for that final season as she's one of the most important and talented players involved. RIP to a real talent of her craft.

Oh that is very sad news.
Agree with Creasy47, she was one of the best things about Peaky Blinders.
And they were planning a movie version!!
Wont be the same without her!

Just read about Helen McCrory. Thus is really tragic. For me, she will always be Medea. If you have the chance, watch the National Theatre production from 2014.
