i came up with this story of how the Die Another Day and Casino Royale timeline could be connected:

Lets say that after Die Another Day (and Everything or Nothing), Bond who had his 00 Status recede he went into a mini-retirement so in between the years with the finantial meltdown and such MI6 recieved a massive budget cut in which the Q Division had to be shut down sending R into unemployment and Moneypenny left for an unclosed ammount of time in which M had to hire a new assistant- Villers.

in the meantime Bond could have suffered from a fugue state due to being tortured for 18 months (or any other event that occured between the events of DAD and CR) in which he went into re-training and M knowing that 007 suffered these ordeals chose not to tell him decided to reevaluate him by sending him to kill Dryden to earn his 00 Status)

...and during Bond's capture in DAD he misses his 50th birthday party, so he makes up for it the next year when he turns 38. :D

    Great laugh.
  • Damn whatever training M had Bond on it worked like a charm. Going from Brosnan's sagging beer belly to Craig's shreded physique must've been no easy task.

I find the '85 to '87 change much more intersting... ;)

Both were more or less the same. We went from a more comical and light-hearted Bond to a more serious and gritty one. But physically the Brosnan/Craig change was more drastic. But just for fun.

MI6 spends a large portion of it's budget putting Bond through various plastic surgeries and a liposuction to deal with his advancing age. This traumatic ordeal forces Bond to question his bizarrely tongue-and-cheek approach to killing people for a living so he dyes his hair a darker color and decides to take an "all business" approach to his work. But every once in a while his old personality will break through and he'll drop a pun. "He got the boot".

Did he lose his memory sometime between 2002 and 2006?
