Watching Thunderball many times, I have come to the conclusion that Boviare dressed as a female would be one of the first times a villain dressed as a woman to create the illusion that the male was killed has been seen in a movie, in 1965.

    Norman Bates in Psycho 1960... De Palma often paid homage to Hitch, Dressed to Kill is a definite nod to the Master of Suspense.

    This may have been the case as Connery was in Marnie in 1964 and under Hitchcock the producers and directors wanted something sinister in the prequel of Thunderball.
