Yes, what a silly argument. Anyone can be racist against anyone else.

That's new to me is there a rule book.

Teaser will surely give us something to guess especially female characters, question is how much they can show in a 90 seconds teaser

In my opinion they should show two crucial things. I just realized that one of the reasons why this whole shitstorm even started is, that people don't realize that Bond has retired. And I can't blame them. It was really just hinted at in Spectre.

So that would be first, but i think they will do that anyway just to have a frame or two of Bond hanging out in Jamaica.
Second would be that M is reasigning the 007 to Nomi in his absence. But i think they will intercut that with her flirting with him in Jamaica, just for shits and giggles, and to show that this is not some feminist conspiracy crap but very much in line with what Bond is about.

And then show that Bond is returning and leave the audience in suspence as how that will play out.

But the trailer should obviously focus 95% on Bond and his journey.

The opinion of a columnis on the Doctor Who Companion site :

    https://thedoctorwhocompanion.com/2019/07/17/why-the-reported-casting-of-lashana-lynch-as-the-new-007-is-nothing-but-a-cynical-publicity-stunt/

Apparently, he hasn't seen Captain Marvel.

But it's not the first time somebody else bears the 007 number. In fact, Forever and a Day starts with the murder of agent 007, remember ? That is, the 007 before James Bond. So, I'll abstain from any comment until I see the movie, and I suggest you do the same. But if the aim of that leak was to make people talk about the movie, well, mission accomplished.

That line from Forever and a Day and the number was even part of the marketing for that book. It will be interesting to see what they do with the marketing for the film.

He may have some valid points.

I think there is a risk of alienating some of the hardcore fanbase if Bond 25 features two 007s for the majority of the plot. Surely we can't have two 007s on the same mission? Isn't that a bit silly? When Bond returns to London and goes back on active duty, Nomi's 007 prefix should return to Bond? Wouldn't that make sense? I think so.

If we're going to have Bond and Nomi as a team (similar to Jinx and Bond) - fair enough, I've no issue with a woman 00, but I have an issue with two 007s battling the remains of SPECTRE in Bond 25.

I cannot make head nor tail of that sentence! :) If anyone feels alienated by that I think they have to ask themselves what it is they enjoy about these movies. Is it really only the secret code number of the hero?

And there will only be one 007 at time, not two.

He doesn’t. He’s a stain on Bond fandom.

From what we can ascertain this time out Nomi is 007 and Bond is, well, ‘Bond’. Get used to it. I presume this is most certainly the case until the latter part of the film where he seemingly returns to MI6 and is grilled by ‘M’. My guess is that he is then reinstated at MI6 on a short term basis, or is perhaps presented with a new code (7777). There will not be two 007s in the same film.

If Nomi drops her '007' status when Bond returns to active duty, fair enough. Let's wait and see...

It's possible Nomi is killed off early on in the story but that's a complete guess. If she doesn't die then she's going to be part of the mission? I guess so. If you bother to introduce a new '007' it's kinda pointless to leave her out of the rest of the story. I can't see how this is going to work. Nomi's 007 status has to be given back to Bond otherwise some fans will moan.

Well that's not going to happen; why would she do that? To give up the number she'll either die or be fired; she's not going to give the number up, because in their world it is just a number. One is as good as another.

EON doesn’t care. In the context of the film and for the wider audience (which is who these films are aimed at) it’s trivial.

There is no way they are going to give Lynch the '007' number and then kill her off. It' a revolutionary move that is getting a huge amount of support from a host of people who would never see a Bond film.

Purists will have their feathers ruffled, but they have all bought a ticket for this already. Now there is a huge amount of people saying “I’m interested in this film!” This means new fans, which means more ticket sales and the longevity of the franchise.

There will be some fringe individuals who will attempt to “boycott” the film. But they occupy tiny percentage of the audience. If you keep up with Film Twitter you would remember that in March everyone was scared that the Captain Marvel “boycott” would sink that film. Instead it had a huge opening weekend and grossed over a billion worldwide.

Michael Wilson says it best in the video below. The formula of ‘if it isn’t broke, don’t fix it” does not apply. You have break it apart sometimes.

Bond 25 has risen this weekend from "problem child"/potential disaster to a "must see" with a lot of chatter.

Now you just need a trailer with Nomi introduced as '007' and the buzz should be deafening.

A lot of this is due to people have forgotten Bond retired at the end of SP.
5 years is a hell of a gap to presume the public majority will remember what happened, and its a presumptuous, arrogant attitude to expect everyone to remember it,as I have said umpteen times on here.

If people think Bond is still an active agent then this uproar is partly down to that, why would Nomi become 007 if 007 himself is still active ?

Some will think Craig is only in the film for part of it or a cameo, and the press and shit-stirrers out there can influence and escalate the whole situation.

This is becoming a worry and I don't think a teaser trailer will make a lot of difference.
It needs a proper trailer,a teaser might just inflame the situation more.

@Pierce2Daniel Sorry, how do you know it's a 'revolutionary move' when you don't even know what the plot is yet?

How do you know she isn't killed off?

Give the makers kudo's if you want, but these are the same people that came up with the great idea of Blofeld being Bond's stepbrother...

All i'm interested in is it being an excellent Bond film. A word rarely associated with the previous debacle.

Nomi will not lose her status. I'm calling it right now, there will be a scene at the end of the movie where Craig hands off the mantle to her and she gets either a spin-off series or becomes 007 forever.

I'm sorry @peter, @Denbigh , I understand what you're saying and it makes sense, but I really hate this idea. :D

It seems so remarkably arbitrary to me. It's not like '007' is his superhero alter ego or anything; it's purely the designation he gets at work. It doesn't define the character in any way.

And why would it be wrong if Bond wouldn't be 007 in the movie and Lashana Lynch would have been 008? :)

Then you've lost the dramatic irony and the gag.

It's like saying 'why couldn't Silva have blown up someone else's Aston Martin in Skyfall?'. The point was that it's Bond's Aston Martin!

Now, I love that Aston; but I'm not complaining that they did it. By all means blow it up because it makes for a better scene, and it gets a reaction from Bond (and indeed me, as a viewer). Maybe the car lover and Bond fan in me would have preferred to see his neighbour's sportscar get blown up rather than that one, but I know that it makes the film better for it to destroy the car I like.

So for you to feel a reaction to someone else being 007 is good, because you'll be sharing Bond's feelings when he finds out, and that makes it a more interesting and involving film experience. If she had been 008 you'd feel absolutely nothing.

    Wise words @mtm.

That said checking the media I'm appalled by both the hostility of some people regarding Nomi being 007 as the enthusiasm of others. Both sides are cruelly misinformed.

Afterwards Eon reverts back to the beloved 2 year schedule with the NOMI-AGENT 007 franchise.

Revisionist history then claims Fleming originally named his character NOMI before glancing over at his copy of BIRDS OF THE WEST INDIES and changing his mind.

Didn't bond got his 007 status in Casino Royale by doing some actual work, he earned it right . Will she get her 007 status by doing some actual work or just because the position is available.

Doesn't matter. See, it's the slowly boiling frog analogy. When precedence is set, it's easier to push the agenda forward into a more focused, physical, and more powerful reality. Jinx was just a first, tentative step. In today's hyper PC culture, the #metoo movement, the active push against "toxic masculinity", and everything else, this is all they need.

Well,if your prediction comes true,i wont be going to see the film for sure.
It would make a mockery of the whole series, and Fleming himself.

Because you think she's just getting handed it because of her race/gender and not on merit, and us honest, hard-workin' white men are getting the rough end of the stick nowadays?
