I completely agree with all those points, they are part of my concerns as well.
They should have got a new 007 after SP 5 years ago.
fiasco: noun - UK/fiˈæs.kəʊ/ US/fiˈæs.koʊ/ plural: fiascos or mainly us fiascoes
"something planned that goes wrong and is a complete failure, usually in an embarrassing way".
SP has never been a fiasco.
The general reception wasn't great but neither bad. Some critics loved it, some hated it. On Metacritic has a 60/100, with a user score of 6.8, the same score it has on IMDb (QoS has 58/100 and 6.3, for the record). In Europe, on the other hand, the movie was definitely appreciated more than in the US.
SP Cinemascore was the same of CR, A-.
It's the fourth highest grossing Bond movie adjusting for inflation, earning almost 900 millions even with a US disappointing run.
What a fiasco.
My only real concerns are post B25.
Will this film re-ignite the franchise after the series' second longest hiatus?
Will this film rejuvenate the series the way GOLDENEYE and CASINO ROYALE did, and give the series a whole new future?
Or will this simply peter out the Craig era with a wimper, thus necessitating an even longer gap next time while Eon carefully decide what to do next?
I don't think the franchise needs to be re-ignite, since a lot of people still thinks Craig is a great Bond - while being super open about another ride with him - and the last two made the best at the box-office since 40 years. But I understand what you mean, and I don't think 25 will be a "game changer" for the general audiences the way CR or SF were.
But I'm quite confident that Fukunaga's take will give the series a big injection of freshness and energy, especially after Mendes retro combo.
I don’t think this is going to happen. The other two, yeah, you might have a problem with those.
The choice of composer is the only niggle I have, though if I am proven wrong and he delivers I will hold my hands up.
My favorite was during a red carpet Eva Green interview at the premiere of CR, where the interviewer brings up CraigNotBond and she just rolls her eyes before giving compliments to Craig and the filmmakers.
For me, I have full confidence in Bond 25. Yeah, I do. Very happy with what I'm seeing and I have faith in the director and cast.
Of course this thread is a good idea, gal,I created it he he ;)
"Well, as a shocking surprise move by Barry, this is one thread of his that may stand a chance of being really helpful to this bickering forum."
Also not sure how they are going to handle Madeleine. If they have her get killed for another tragic love story it will just be kind of lame since they already did that with Craig in CR.
Haha well played....touché !
A lot of people had noted? Oh. Didn’t know that. Didn’t know they also are on set to see this troubled production unfold.
Thanks for the info; I will now presuppose this film is as doomed as you say coz some ppl say it’s doomed coz not that they read stuff in a newspaper, but coz, like, they just know. Like really, really, really know.
Thanks for the accurate portrayal of The Titanic— I mean Bond 25.
So I am just going to enjoy the next 8 to 9 months of build up to the Bond 25 movie release! :-bd
So... black people don’t deserve the same opportunities as white people?
And seriously, Star Trek? That’s a franchise that has called for diversity since 1966 with its multiethnic casts, and has been largely SJW. It never had a perfect track record (look at the treatment of Janice Rand in “The Enemy Within”), but a large part of it’s appeal is showing humanity embracing diversity. Even Spock’s IDIC emblem literally stands for “Infinite Diversity in Infinite Combinations”.
Hope Universal will make exeption and will do wide!! release of a soundtrack (Possible released by Decca). Afraid we wil not get or even more limited release then it already be (means only avaible in the usa). If needed the soundtrack should be avaible at Blokker stores too.
Also with bonusmaterial it can go two ways with them. 2 (BD + Bonus Disc) or 3 (BD + Bonus BD + DVD) disc edition with DTS-X it should be. Only commentary track, Jamaica vlog, Charles visit to the set is not enough and trailers and tv spots should be there too. Isolated score be nice too. And i stil like to see two disc BD versions (by prefer earlier bd updated + bonus disc) of earlier movies.
Spoilers by media. Judi Dench M death back in 2012. Madeline or Bond going to die, Lashana Lynch or Anna screentime ??
Lies by media about pacing of the movie.
Spoilers in first trailer who there should not at. Like Mr White is Madeline father see Spectre.
Bourne Ultimatum writer
Bond 26 not in 2022
The things we haven;t seen yet in meaning of contuned things
Madeline have nothing said part who is bigger then Lashana Lynch (SF repeating)
Not like:
2015 - 2020
Astin Martin DB5.
Like so far:
Big part of Videoblog.
There going to use various cars
Felix is back and played by Jeffrey Wright
Judi Dench is possible seen on picture on the wall at Mi6, nice as refrence to her and fact the directer worked with her before but sadley enough for him can't work with her any more at Bond movie. Whyle of ourse it is possible it only be for feature about Charles visit the set.
There's enough meat to chew on for Bond's arc personally given his decision to leave the service, his struggles adapting to the mundanity of civilian life (bringing it back to Fleming), Bond's aging/obsolescence in a quickly changing world and potentially
1. Lashana Lynch being 007. God please no.
Nothing against Lashana personally, but I don't want to see anyone else be 007 or James Bond other than the man playing James Bond. I don't really want to see her co starring and sharing the film with Daniel in his last film. He shared too much screen time in Spectre for my liking, let him be the star of the show.
A female 007 just feels like the producers pandering to a feminist movement.
2. Too many self references nods, there were too many in Spectre and it almost became DAD level distracting. Give us something new, an occasional nod is nice but too many just becomes too much. I do love the Vantage making an appearance though
These are only very minor concerns though, because I'm so excited for this new film. The great cast and also I'm excited about the new energy Cary is bringing to the movie. April can't come soon enough, roll on the trailers and the title reveal
This my personal opinion and to me that description sums the film up. I have it at no. 24 in my rankings.
I'm not one of those who was a huge critic of this era, in fact I pretty much loved it and still rate the other 3 films highly and they reside in my top 10, to have a huge advocate turn this way says a lot for me.
So to me personally it was a fiasco, I'm not talking about boxoffice or some of the silly OTT reviews it got in the UK. They are irrelevant to my personal view of the film, so yes once again fiasco works fine for me.
However, I have faith in Fukunaga and most of the people he's brought on board.
My honest feeling is that I'll like it more than SF/SP but not as much as CR/QOS. I'm happy with that.
I'm going to enjoy most everything ramping up to the release of the film.
Man, I love those moments.
Craig can't drive a stick: QOS opens with an intense car chase--maybe the best driving Bond's ever done.
Bond isn't the Hulk: QOS opera sequence, OO7 breaks off the door handle with ease.
Craig is too short: QOS again, Felix offers Bond pills to make him taller.
QOS doomed the franchise: SF's title courts the Chicken Little reaction that literally the sky is falling.
Bond isn't blond: SF's villain is a platinum blond. For perspective, I guess.
On the other hand if Bond reads someone accurately and comes on strong to a willing partner, that's altogether different. To me that goes back to Patricia Fearing and Pussy Galore, how it played out on screen.
Would you look at this, a Bond fan that is actually fascinated with the idea of contextualizing a Bond film in today’s era instead of wanting to pretend it’s still 1962.
However I too am hoping there isn't some passing of the torch to Nomi.
