With the black trim it's always reminded me of a GT-R. It says Nissan to me.

The GTR is one stunning looking car.

I think it's great for what it is (do they still make it? It must be pretty old now) but it seems an odd style for Aston to aim for.

@JamesCraig the gray is better, but I'd personally go with the dark green. A car with such sharp lines should have a bit darker colour. If it's too bright it becomes a screaming attention seeker. That's perfectly fine if the car itself is completely over the top (see Lamborghini) but not for a car like this. I agree @mtm, the grille is far classier with the silver lining. The car is styled quite agressively. If that's toned down with softer accents (and colour) it looks like a, let's say a Connery. If it's brightly coloured offset with all that black it's a bodybuilder from the gym.

The dark green is also very nice.

Moving on... to the first generation VW Golf GTI.

Thanks, yeah; it's barely changed. That's got to be one of the oldest models in production at the moment.

In all fairness, a member is not obligated to respond to any request. :-) It's never pleasant to feel ignored, but a member may lack the time or the general interest to do so. I'm sure you agree that's how this works. Internet "etiquette" is what it is. :)

What are you talking about? Please explain why you're being so unpleasant..?
Which 'opinions' are you talking about? Have I offended you in some way?
Because I posted a picture of a restored MG, is that it?

@DarthDimi But he just responded to me..? Is being rude something we're encouraged to do here? Being unpleasant for no reason and then refusing to even explain why isn't any kind of etiquette I understand.

Nah, of course that's not encouraged, and if JC responded to you in the meantime, then that's his choice, of course.

But when a member stops participating in a discussion is his business and his alone. What we DO encourage is for members to walk away from a discussion whenever they feel like it's only going downhill and could get ugly fast. Nothing more to it. :)

I think things could be resolved amicably if members actually explained what their issue was and weren't rude and unpleasant for no reason.
I can't agree that it's fine for people to do that.

    Who cares?

Anyway ignoring that, I thought this was interesting. Someone has re-engineered a Rolls Phantom V to be electrified. Not sure how I feel about it but it's an impressive piece of work.

Anyway, ignoring the horrible rude people, I'm becoming a bit obsessed with the Frontline again- it really does have an air of quality the MGB never had. And I love this Aston Martin colour they paint them in. It's kind of like a baby Aston.

@mtm, please give it a rest. At this point, it's not about who started what a long time ago, it's about who's perpetuating this childish bickering.

Anyway, ignoring the horrible rude people,

    Yes, "how rude!". Thank you.

Once again, whether you like it or not, members are NOT obligated to explain anything, respond to a post or whatever else you might expect them to do. You may find it in poor taste, you may think of them as rude, but pressing the issue, as you have in your last couple of posts, is obviously playing much more to everybody else's annoyance than JC's silence is to yours.

So, I politely ask you--again--to please accept the fact that members can just walk away from any discussion, at any given point. Whether that means they have accepted defeat, or are fed up with the whole thing or have stopped caring, is of no importance. The only thing that matters is that you accept this by moving on yourself. Dropping these unnecessary comments left and right doesn't mean you are, even if your next sentence is "Moving on." You clearly haven't. JC, however, is trying to walk away from the argument, but your provocative tone continues to draw him back in. And that is precisely why things turn ugly on an Internet forum.

So here's the deal: think of yourself as the "winner" in whatever battle you seem to think you're in, and proudly walk away from the argument.

    Thank you.

EDIT: I don't even understand what this is all about. I went back several posts and at first, all was fine and then, suddenly, something must have happened that was either deleted or holds little significance to me since all I can find is some car talk that makes little sense to me and opinions being exchanged in a relaxed and seemingly gentle way. How far must I go back to find the seeds of this animosity?

@DarthDimi That's exactly my point: I genuinely have no idea why he was suddenly rude to me, just after I posted some pictures of a nice green 2.5 litre MGB. All I did then was literally ask what I did to upset him and that was seen as beneath contempt for some reason. I have no idea. Nothing got deleted: he just suddenly turned aggressive as if green cars are some sort of trigger to him. It's absolutely baffling. Maybe you can try asking him? Personally I don't see being suddenly horrible to someone and then refusing to explain themselves as the noble act you're describing here. It would be like me scratching your car and then, when you ask me to pay for it, me telling you that I've moved on from it and you should too.

I'm happy to move on and ignore him (if he can't be civil to me for whatever mad reason he has then I won't even engage with him) but I have no idea what will set him off next.

They're beasts, those Silver Arrows. Very impressive to see- a couple of years back at Goodwood they managed to get about twenty of them together I think, which is a pretty amazing feat as they're fairly close to priceless!

The Gullwing is a pretty bona fide perfect classic. It's not on my list of top favourites, but it is pretty amazing

Just came across one of these in my little town yesterday:
    opelgtvck9m.jpg
This picture is from 2013, however. I took it at the Verkehrszentrum (Land Transport Collection) of the Deutsches Museum in Munich.

I never drove one of those Opel GT, but I remember riding in one that my cousin had borrowed. Most striking was the massive lever on the transmission tunnel with which one had to pop up the headlights manually.

I even remember we went to watch Peckinpah's The Getaway (1972) at our local cinema that night. Since that one came out in Germany in May 1973, it probably was in the summer of that year.
