    I'll be shocked if any elements, even cast, carry over to the next Bond. The Blofeld and SPECTRE of the Craig era will be different from if it reappears in the future. It'll be another reboot, though I doubt of course they'll do an origin story again. Just drop in back to the way things were before, with the Craig films being a completely separate continuity.

    That's a lot of info in that single line. So basically: 1)it confirms that Safin is a competitor of Blofeld. 2)it almost confirms that he is the one who came to kill Mr. White back when Madeleine was a child, which makes sense as White was then working under Blofeld's authority, 3)thar Blofeld will be a sort of Hannibal Lecter with his own agenda. My bet and it is mere speculation: Blofeld will escape before the end of the movie, setting Jim up potentially as the adversary of Craig's successor.

    It’s more than likely Craig’s successor will be an entirely new incarnation of James Bond, a new timeline or universe.
    Now, they very well could use the character of Blofeld but it’s not being setup in this film.

    How can we know that? How is it likely?

    They got a little to excited with getting the rights to SPECTRE I think they should have waited.

    Remember in Die Another Day, the Q branch scene? It had Brosnan looking at the gadgets and things from back to From Russia With Love. Just like how Dalton had the "he was married once" line from Felix. All those actors, up to Craig, were playing the same character. Obviously, the timeline was completely zonked, or Bond should have been 75 in DAD, but there were still nods and winks to the audience that Brosnan in DAD was the same person who went to Shrublands in '65, for example.
    With the re-boot, I'm afraid we've gone into super-hero territory. What I mean is, from what I've heard, (I don't watch them), super-hero movies are constantly being re-booted. There's a beginning story for the characters every few years. And because they are fantasy films, that's okay, because suspension of disbelief is a requirement anyway. And I'm a little worried Bond will go the same way, with another re-boot, or even the horrible idea that he be killed off and start again in some stupid kind of 'alternate timeline' bollocks.
    For all the sci-fi elements, the Bond movies are, at their core, dramas based on a literary character. They got away with the Casino Royale re-boot because it was such a great film. But I'd hate for them to do another 'Bond begins' after retiring Craig off. What they need after he's gone, is a great, rollocking stand-alone mission that pushes all the buttons TSWLM did. No explanations about anything that happened before, just James Bond of the Secret Service off on a mission to defeat some bad bastards.

    Couldn't agree more. I don't like the constant need to reboot characters, and would hate it if this became the norm for Bond as well. Just throw the character into thrilling stand-alone adventures from now on (preferably with less personal angles, but it looks as if EON absolutely loves including that).

    @Zekidk I mostly stay away from NTTD threads as I’m trying to avoid as much talk before seeing the film as possible, however I have watched the trailer and had a quick peek in here to find your retro trailer the talk of the board.

    That's because I have the luxury of being able to edit to the music, and chop everything to pieces, like I did with the Bond theme here.

    Tarantino said 15 years ago (when marketing for Kill Bill) that "The whole combination of the right piece of music with the right visual image, is one of the most exciting things you can do in movies"

    I framed that sentence!
