Any fresh intel on trailer 2’s drop?
Getting close to the super bowl as some have mentioned this as a possible opportunity to air trailer 2 or at least a tv spot.

Still have a theatrical poster, title song, clips from the actual film and some snippets from the score perhaps.

Maybe some more prominent tv advertising end of next month and rolling into March?

    What’s everyone’s thoughts? 🍸

Not yet but indeed, Super Bowl would be the opportunity to kick the TV campaign off. Hopefully with the second trailer. If not then, surely sometime in February given we know that's when tickets will be on sale etc. Title song I'm guessing around then too, especially with the BRIT awards rumour (though how cool would it be to have it surprise debut this Sunday at the GRAMMYs).

Then TV campaign, clips, score snippets in March. Given Zimmer's involvement and his music generally tending to work better on trailers I wonder if we'll get a taste of the score in any upcoming trailers and spots.

Good points, it would be a great surprise and nice springboard if we did get the title song Sunday at the Grammy’s, I think it would be perfect timing and with the amount of people it would hit I think it would be a stroke of genius and reassures us that there was always a strong marketing plan in place.

If trailer 2 followed at half time of the super bowl we will be in full string and Bond will have hit 2 massive audiences and demographics in a short space of time and set us up perfectly for the TV marketing campaign.

Doubtful we will get anything from Zimmer in the trailer as they tend to be a standalone piece written and made specifically for the trailer by a 3rd party if I’m correct in thinking?... However something Zimmer would be a triumph in trailer 2, I’m very excited for the score and can’t wait for some snippets and of course to see it in full swing on screen, WHAT an appointment and thank you EON!!

It would be a treat to get the title song and trailer 2 in the next 2 weeks!!

    Exciting times ahead indeed 🍸

Yeah, all the Craig trailers were done by Jeff Pfeifer. Not necessarily specifically for the trailer (though that was the case for the main SPECTRE trailer), he's got a library of Bond theme reworks for trailers to use in campaigns.
  • Has there been any trailer released within the past few decades with music from the film's score or even from the composer? It just doesn't seem to be a thing, but my memory is bad, so maybe?

Yeah, one rare occasion....Transformers: The Last Knight....the 2nd trailer or so, featured Steve Jablonsky's 'We have to go' from the score.

Gone Girl comes to mind. Can't think of much.

The 2nd trailer for The Man From U.N.C.L.E features Daniel Pemberton's score in the first half.

The third trailer for Man Of Steel featured Zimmer's music from the film as well, from what I remember.

It's not as common anymore though, for sure.

Here's my attempt at a retro trailer:

I wasn't going to watch it, as most fan made anything generally suck, but, on a whim, I did. That was fantastic @Zekidk , great job. I teach a Multimedia class, so I know the work that went into getting it to that level of detail and perfection. But beyond that it was clever and funny and exhilarating. I can't thank you enough. I hope you don't mind if I share it on Facebook.

I'll happily put more praise on this for @Zekidk as well, love the retro trailer. The shot used at the very end, of Matera, is absolute perfection.

Thank you. And yes, @Birdleson - I had fun in Adobe Premiere doing this. And yes please... share away!

Bad news for all of us hoping for something this Sunday:

The Hollywood Reporter's article on which studios bought airtime makes no mention of MGM/UA, only that Disney, Universal and Paramount have bought air time this year. Guessing with nearly $6 million for 30 seconds, too expensive for them. Maybe if Universal had domestic, they're going for damn Minions instead!

That’s disappointing but not the end of the world. Hopefully, the marketing team has some cool things planned in the lead up to April.

Thanks @antovolk, I also found this list of the most likely spots.

    https://comicbook.com/movies/2020/01/28/super-bowl-2020-movie-trailers-full-list-of-likely-spots-revealed/

And it's only been nearly two months since the last one. My guess would be a mid to late February trailer.

The next big studio film is Birds of Prey. Even then that may have a fairly limited audience as the trailers seem divisive and mostly targeted to a female audience. it's also R-rated which will naturally limit its audience......Nonetheless, the next big cinema release after is Mulan. But that is out a week before NTTD!

I think its almost certain that Harley Quinn come to the rescue and gets the next NTTD trailer - especially as Birds of Prey could be a Deadpool success.

If we don't get stuff now, I hope we get stuff on the DVD/Blu-Ray. They've been slacking since Casino Royale with their special features :(

To be honest I'll be very surprised if the second trailer isn't with Birds of Prey - Mulan aside, which I'm not sure how suitable it will be as a PG family title for a 12A film (and trailer), BoP really is their last shot. However if that slips by us then I'm certain we'll get something in February, with tickets on sale and all.

But @antovolk they also missed that with first trailer by not releasing with star wars and other big films . They might drop the second trailer unannounced as well.

I'm shocked they are missing out on a big audience this marketing team really has mishandled this film maybe they didn't want to pay the 5 million dollar fee

Uh, they didn't - the first trailer was indeed released in time to play with Star Wars...saw it on the IMAX screen here on the opening weekend.

No worries. If it didn't play with a SW showing its ultimately the theatre's fault. MGM and Universal did send it out in time with that purpose...but of course, aside from any Disney/20th Century Studios trailers, everything is down to individual cinemas.

IMO, Eon missed out on 3 major marketing opportunities. The first one being a teaser trailer in October, the second being not marketing the film as Craig's "final mission", and missing out on the super bowl. I get that marketing will pick up heavily a month before release, but I simply don't feel like they've done enough, especially in contrast to the last few films.

Including 'His Final Mission' int he trailer doesn't make a blind bit of difference in selling the finality of this film. Plus, int he Craig era, EON haven't used slogans or straplines in the trailer.

Regardless, everywhere I look in the marketing I'm reminded this is Craig's finale. it's being flogged to death.

I'm not an expert on trailers. If there is a second trailer, will it be a variation of the first one, or will it have a lot of new stuff?

@jake24 +1 hopefully they won't be kicking themselves. I guess they love GMA.
