    And Paloma

    Ah damn :-<

Edit: Nah, she's in it at the end, with her money shot of firing two guns.

I think what you mean is that so many don't want her to be in the film.

As for the trailer, i just find it hilarious.
But that's russia. They also cut Felix out and made it look like Bond got his mission from M (that's why we have the new screenshot) lol.

I couldn't help but feel the same. But only because of the focus on our man Bond.

At the end of the day a lot of people feel threatened by a strong black woman. They want their James Bond films to be a comfortable, safe space.

Not me. But I like it when the trailers focus on the main character. The trailers and the overall narrative. If Nomi was a man, a black, asian, white, whatever, man, I'd feel the exact same way. Maybe even more so. I just don't like buddy movies. And I don't want this to be one. But maybe their dynamics will be so much fun, I'll love it. Who knows?

well if that is true people need to take a long hard look at themselves. Why should anyone pose a threat to a film series that’s nearly 60 years old? Seriously?! It’s a film with a character beloved the world over but oh no, there’s another strong character in it!

Her race and gender shouldn’t be an issue at all and anyone threatened by her character in the movie should be ashamed of themselves!

I just saw Captain Marvel, and there is a hundred things wrong with it, but Lashana is not among its problems.

Couldn't watch that crap film from start to finish, so i skipped to all her scenes, and pretty much came to the same conclusion. Wish i could find more films with her to form a better opinion.

Why does any critic about a possible (emphasis on possible) overuse of a secondary character, publicity or film wise, ends up being a demonstration of male insecurity and/or racist behaviour?

Some members just said they liked the cut trailer more because it focused on Bond. That's all. Leave it be.

Nomi will probably be a very cool character and she won't steal the film away from James Bond or Daniel Craig for that matter. Although, to be fair, most interviews and publicity for this film seems to center on her and her character. And Paloma's.

I mean, where are the Craig interviews? All I see is Bond women this, Bond women that. And a lot of Fukunaga. A bit of Rami. But personally, I'd love to hear Daniel Craig's take on it, on the film I mean. I just know I'll miss the guy, and this is his last round of media as Bond.

He's been brilliant on the little he has done, though. That round table being the best bit so far.

A very reasonable assessment that I think will likely be rejected by many regardless. And I say that as someone who likes what he has seen of Nomi so far.

Anyone speak Russian? "You" or "Him" this time?

There's no 'you' or 'him' in this trailer. I think Blofeld says something like:

We (or you) still haven't faced such a dangerous devil.

I just like it because it's more focus on Bond and its something familiar. I'm starting to wonder if I'm in a Bond site people want him to die and be replaced I don't get it. I root for Bond because he should be the only main focus of his films. If they are his films anymore. Sorry but I don't pay to see nomi films.

I'm beginning to think there's a reason most better films for each actor are their first. Because by then all they want to focus on is the new actor and, of course, Bond himself.

Then they start to loose themselves with what they can add to their golden goose, not understanding that it's not about addition, it's about addiction to the main character. Putting it in different scenarios and making it shine in those and against new threats and other characters. In a sense, it's not about sharing.

That's why TLD, GE, CR were the best in their respective eras. IMO, of course. This is probably an opinion for the controversial opinions thread ;)

But I think what people also need to understand is that they've probably attempted to create a character in Nomi that while is her own character in many ways, seemingly serves as a reflection of Bond's former self. Some of us have already attributed some of her personality to be that of a newly recruited agent like Craig in Casino Royale, So I'm kinda hoping they'll learn something from each other.

I also just think they want to create more iconic characters for the franchise. Compare Sean Connery's characters to Craig's. Sometimes to create these more iconic characters you have to be a bit more original or delve a bit deeper even. So instead of just having another helpful, kick-ass attractive Bond girl which we seemingly still have in Paloma, we develop Nomi into a new 00 agent working for MI6 who reflects Craig's Bond where he's been and where he's going in a film that's probably built all around the end of his era. If there's any time to do it, it's now, and they get to do it with the added benefit of being able to appeal to both audiences; people who want better female characters, and people who want James Bond to be a man...

But who knows? It could all go tits up, but those are my thoughts...

I still don't understand the hyper Nomi worry....it's not like Lynch has shot & will appear in the Gunbarrel Sequence.

Gala Brand has a big role in Fleming's Moonraker. Bond combating or allying with a strong woman has been a trope of these stories ever since Fleming first penned them.

It's the 007 thing I think with people and the logo. I think If she was her own unique 00 person there wouldn't be as much fuss.
