[Pardon my enthusiasm here.]
So excited to see more of Safin! He is looking like an amazing new Bond villain.
Yes, it is the first time that I've had almost no doubt about it. That really does sound like him.
But then it intersects with the rest of the trailer music which sounds like all of the other Craig trailers we've ever had, really. Maybe they lifted a little bit of his score just in the middle? I don't know what's going on, it's a puzzler.
Safin: "I am a man willing to kill the person you love most"
Swann: "I’ve already lost everybody I ever loved."
Bond: "The bitch is dead."
*roll credits*
Might this suggest that this scene occurs before Bond and Madeleine see each other at MI6?
I think you're right
Yep.
Around 3:37 what is thattt?
Yeah that's... weird. Some local PR team going a bit off on one there- I think if I were the average punter I wouldn't get through that as I've seen Casino Royale before! :)
Also the music gets quite tiring after a while! :D
Quite odd to include that gunbarrel- is that from an old CR trailer? And there's a shot in the Spectre sequence that wasn't in the film :)
And yes, quite a lot of the footage in this is taken from the older trailers - hence the gunbarrel from the CR teaser.
But importantly, yes.....at 3:37 it looks like a shot we haven't seen before. Bond going over the edge of a balcony with two goons. By the looks of the attire, lighting, and the fact that there are bodies on the floor in the background, it is likely part of the SPECTRE party sequence.
Yeah I don't think they will be launched UK/US just because they're weird :)
I can imagine maybe a trailer with a few brief clips of his previous films, but not a mad, rather clumsy recap one like this. As you say, they've basically not done much more than just stick a load of old trailers together.
I didn't realise we hadn't seen that. I think I remember it appearing from another angle in another trailer- it's when he lands on the bar isn't it?
It could have appeared in one of the earlier BTS videos, for sure. I don't remember it in a trailer - but we did get a shot of Waldo doing a high dive in the recent trailer. Perhaps that is happening simultaneously to Bond dragging these two henchmen over.
I wouldn't be surprised if these get polished a bit more for the US/UK etc English versions. The 'What is Bond' shorter piece itself is pretty slickly done already and probably what is intended for over here. But international trailers being a bit 'clumsier' is in all honesty no surprise.
True, but also I'm not sure it's a great idea to show the previous films in a trailer because it perhaps suggests that you need to have seen them all (and remember them) to see the new one, and I think these big films should aim to be pretty accessible in general.
Depends on the franchise - and how much the film itself does need that understanding of the previous films! When you have the film that's the end of a story, the 'finale hook' is the first thing that's gone for... Star Wars, Avengers, Harry Potter, Nolan's Batman trilogy, hell even Tenet went for this with Nolan's previous work. Obviously this serialisation is a new thing for Bond, unlike this... (though the YOLT trailers and posters did call out and include footage of the preceding films!)
It's such a beautiful film, and its shortcomings surely aren't there to be see in trailer mode, so I wish they'd use it more.
A small think I noticed, anyone else think the way Bond says "no" (right before the line, "not as long as there are people like you in the world") , was similar to the way he said it to Silva, when Silva says, "all she does is lie to you". It's like Bond is almost a little bit shook up or unnerved by Safin
Excellent. Thanks @Contraband!
Yes I'd forgotten about that Tenet one; I found that quite odd- like a fan trailer on YouTube! :)
You're right about the serialised films but I'm not sure it's a great idea for Bond- I suspect that if folks actually went in and watched this without remembering Spectre they'd probably be able to follow it very easily. Not the end of the world though.
