Yes, the thread is a mess, but isn’t this the whole point of the page... to discuss the upcoming trailer? The whole reason we’re here is to talk about the film we haven’t even seen yet, so that also applies to the trailer :)

I understand people’s frustrations but there’s no point in questioning the page cause then we might as well question the point of the entire site.

Star wars will be counted in 2019 not 2020. The only competition bond will have is Fast & furious.

There are some sequels, remakes and original movies coming in 2020 besides Fast & Furious 9, that could do well at the BoxOffice:

    - Bad Boys For Life
    - Birds of Prey
    - Godzilla vs. Kong
    - Black Widow
    - Wonder Woman 1984
    - Top Gun: Maverick
    - Minions 2
    - Ghostbusters
    - Tenet
    - Dune
    - West Side Story

Did any of these crossed a Billion before. I am not sure about minion.

    - Minions (2015): $1,2 billion
    - Wonder Woman (2017): $822 million
    - Suicide Squad (2016): $747 million (Birds of Prey is a kind-of sequel)

    - Black Widow is part of the Marvel franchise
    - Godzilla may make tons of money in Asia, and reach the billion that way
    - Tenet is the new Christopher Nolan spy-thriller (will be compared to Bond for sure)

Top Gun, Ghostbusters and West Side Story would have been billionaires, if the ticket prices in the 60's and 80's were the same as today.

And Dune I just put in there, because it could be a surprise hit.

Interesting but let me elaborate a bit.

-Minions is the only film that crossed the billion.

    - wonder woman could reach a billion but SP was still able to cross the first WW and that also when bond wasn't at it's best.

    - birds of prey is more of a prequel more than sequel based on individual character, doesn't have a strong starcast this time and teaser looked a tad boring as well.

    - It will be interesting to see how black widow will do on the screen but it's not another marvel superhero film, it will be more grounded realistic approach but Scarlett has a very strong fan-base and Marvel Marketing could get this film to a billion but not more than bond I think.

    - Godzilla in 2014 reached something more than 500 million and in 2019 it barely crossed 400 million so I highly doubt it could get passed a billion.

    - Christopher Nolan didn't had any film apart from Batman which reached 1 billion but I am unsure about this one.

    Here's the-
Top Gun box office According to inflation to the current years:
    https://www.boxofficemojo.com/franchises/chart/?id=ghostbusters.htm
Ghostbusters box office According to inflation to the current years: https://www.boxofficemojo.com/franchises/chart/?id=ghostbusters.htm
West side stories isn't mention in inflation but by calculation it could be roughly 500
    million.

So the only two films which are sure for now which can top NTTD is Fast & Furious and Minions 2.

Next week seems dubious too, as Star Wars has their final trailer out. When is that supposed to be released, next Monday? So I'd doubt Bond will release their teaser the day after, people will be talking about SW for the first few days after that trailer.

I think EON would generate hype much better if they gave us a countdown on it. If they were just going to drop it out of the blue, imo that would be a marketing blunder. The hype for the release is better than the release itself.

That's only the US box office adjusted to inflation, not the world wide box office.

But yes, if "Ghostbusters" made $613 million in the US (adjusted to inflation), it still would not reach the worldwide billion, because it wasn't as big a hit overseas as in the US.

Top Gun made $429 million in the US, adjusted to infaltion.
And it had a 50/50 share with overseas box office. So that would be about $800 million.

In the end it depends on the quality of those new movies. When there is a good word-of-mouth, they might have a chance to reach the billion.

But it would indeed be cool if Bond would be the worldwide No 1 movie of the year 2020 in the end.

On the other side, Bond has an April release date. And it's way harder for movies to make money in April/May, than in November/December. So I doubt, that NTTD will reach the Spectre numbers.

Never said that it's out then...only that it'll either be then or the 21st. A Monday in October since they've used ESPN Monday Night Football for the main/final trailer drops.

Star Wars is Disney, and Maleficent 2 comes out next Friday, makes sense that it would be coming on the same week (thus the 14th).

Wouldn't expect it with Maleficent theatrically. Their PG family releases never carried trailers for their PG13 tentpoles like SW or Marvel. Probably will land with Terminator.

Will all trailers attached to Terminator drop on the week of the 21st? Or can some drop the following week (as the release for T6 in the US is November 1st, compared to Oct 23rd/24th in Europe)?

Fully depends on what the respective studios choose to do. Some will have their trailers ready and released online (and shipped to cinemas) in time for the international release, some only for the US release.

A notable example off the top of my head is Doctor Strange. WB released trailer for Wonder Woman the week of the film's US release (and had it play in cinemas that weekend), as opposed to in time for the international release a week earlier. While Fox and Disney had Logan and GOTG Vol 2 trailer done for the international drop.

No, it's meant to be "imposible". If you can't "pose", you're "imposible". Come on, @barryt007, I expected better from you. ;-) Besides, who cares about spelling anyway?

    And also:

    Doctor on!
(verb: Just doctor on, my friend, doctor on.)

    From Russia with Lofe
    (Middle English, look it up)

    Coltfinger
(when Bond decides it's time for a new weapon)

    Thunderbowl
    (a.k.a. a toilet)

    Yo, Only Live Twice!
(when Bond good to da hood)

    On Her Majesty's Secrete Service
(because even She must release Her liquids once in a while)

    Diamonds Are For Eva
(See, Eva has an expensive taste. What can I say?)

    Live and Let Dye
(It's the very motto the Kardashians live by.)

The Man With The Golden Gum
    (... "and he's stickier than your"--okay, I'll stop!)

    The Spy who Loved Mie
    (Who doesn't love noodles?)

    Moonreeker
(Hey, maybe the moon isn't smelling too well, what do I know?)

    For Your Ayes Only
    (Affirmative!)

    Octopus
(Because what if those pimples just don't get popped?)

    A Few To Kill
(I count three: Justin Bieber's career and ... okay, only one then.)

    The Living Delights
(a.k.a. the lovely girls at the train station who kindly keep asking me if I am looking for a good time, sailor.)

    Licence To Quill
(because I'm bloody tired of using pencils, that's why.)

    GoldenAisle
(It's how I will get married)

    TomorrowNeverDries
(Yeah, that basically sums up the weather in the UK)

The World Is Not A Nuff
(But whatever a "nuff" may be, I'm sure @Thunderfinger is one.)

    Die Another Day
(Because the entire title is actually one big spelling mistake. The film was originally going to be called "Bondman and Moonbin")

    Casino Royal
    (a professional gambler)

    Quantum of SOLAS
(It's an Irish education thing. Look it up: An tSeirbhís Oideachais Leanúnaigh agus Scileanna. Anyway, you will accept a quantum of it, whether you like it or not.)

    Skifall
(My knee still aches, every . single . day; twice as bad when it is cold. I never should have gone to Aspen.)

    Scepter
(Bond's "scepter" is, after all, legendary amongst women.)

    No Time To Fly
(because hey, you just might miss the trailer if you do and that would be a major disaster!)
@DD, those are amazing, did you just come up with them off the top of your head, or is there an encyplopedia for such things?

I honestly just did those during my break, @boldfinger. I'm glad you enjoy them. 😉

Thanks for the info. I was basing myself on the release of SF's teaser, 159 days before the film premiered, which in NTTD's case would fall on October 28th. So I was assuming the week of the 28th-31st could be possible.

Nah i still think NTTD has the potential to be highest grossing film of 2020. About the release of April/May didn't Avengers release in summer as does the majority of box office successful films. NTTD will easily get passed SP and SF I think. Especially when ticket prices also getting Higher every year considering it is releasing in imax and they are using imax cameras for the very first time.

Anyway I think we should take this to box office thread. This is the wrong thread to start with.

That only works in the US, but not in Europe. In Europe fall/winter is the biggest box office time.
Here in Germany NTTD for sure will have less tickets sold than Skyfall and Spectre, just because of the April-release-date.

I wonder, why don't they release a videoblog or some official stills if they decided to delay the trailer (if they are delaying it, which would seem to be what's happening considering it has been done for months and someone @MI6 seen a rough cut).

Exactly. Some stills, a production vlog from what they've done Italy...
Or just get Craig and Malek in a room and do something like this.
