I got the whole “brother” angle from the SP teaser; Bond had referred to Hannes Oberhauser as something of a father when he desperately needed one in the original short story (though I didn’t think they’d go so far as to actually use the term “brother” in the film). The torn photo, the known fact that Waltz was being called Oberhauser (but he was obviously also Blofeld) and having read Fleming’s OCTOPUSSY was all that was needed for that to all fall into place. As much as that annoyed me, I was still optimistic and willing to look past that because I was absolutely confident that it was going to be an otherwise magnificent Bond film. I didn’t end up liking it so much.

Oh yeah, they kinda teased that brother thing too, I disliked it..but then again it kinda prepared us for that thing happening I guess.. :/

Don't mean to be negative, but what if the trailer is bad and shows too much?

Then that'll be bad. Why worry about things we can't control?
I wonder if Safin is just a big red herring by Blofeld. While Bond is distracted he hatches his real plan.

A part of me wants this. But I know that'd be a huge waste of Remi Malak. I do hope Safin is the primary villain for the entire film, which I believe he will be. I still want Blofeld in the background pulling the strings.

I'm just a huge fan of the archvillain dynamic. Like it'd be great if the next Bond actor gets a series of films where he's always up against Blofeld's latest criminal scheme. Different primary villains each time, different plans, but always Blofeld in the background.
Not necessarily. He could still feature more than blofeld/ play a major secondary villain role. I love bond films with more than one major villain. I’m also in the camp of wanting them to forget that spectre exists, but what I was more concerned about was this film being a sequel/ heavily derivative of sp. I do not get the feeling this is the case. Walt’s blofeld is literally the worst in the series in my view (worse than gray, who I don’t really hate that much), but that’s not necessarily the case. For one I attribute it to the writing and direction, waltz is the perfect actor to play blofeld and was a huge waste in sp. They could play him as a recurring character and like not mention sp or brothergate at all. Most viewers won’t notice, and since when does continuity make sense in bond, even when it’s supposed to be tighter (see the Connery era).

sometimes it pays to work at a movie theater.. when i got into work yesterday, a co-worker who knows i am a huge 007 fan called me over to the service desk (where our normal deliveries are dropped off) he pulled out the cardboard poster tube and said "look what just came in.".. he opened it and unrolled the NTTD posters in all their glory... we were only shipped 2, and both were Craig...... theater protocol typically is that we have to clear taking any posters home with a manager, but as long as 1 copy of a poster is there to display, then we are fine.. well, knowing that another co-worker of mine is a big 007 fan as well (and also a manager, so he could potentially take a copy before i could had i waited) well... i circumvented all that nonsense and took it right away to my car, so he had no chance to take it :))

here is a picture of said poster, already in a frame, ready to go up next to an official theatrical poster of Casino Royale from 2006 - and that one i found stashed away up in a box in one of our projection boothes - so i took that as well, along with an official Spider-man 2 movie poster from 2004..

I don't know how anyone can wish for "Blofeld" to do anything. In typical Purvis and Wade fashion, this version of Blofeld was butchered. If that pitiful crawling on the bridge wasn't enough, then, I mean, really... And that guy would be pulling strings?!

It was Mendes and Logan's decision to make him Brofeld. P&W were called in at the very last minute and had little time to fix the script.

    Wrong.

Mendes and Logan recycled numerous ideas for Blofeld – including making him an African warlord and a woman. It was only when Logan was fired and P&W came on that that saw some of the story was set in Austria that they suggested the Oberhauser angle.

It was never the case that P&W were militant that the ‘Brofeld’ angle should be in the script. It was Mendes who latched on to it as it further developed Bond’s past (a story idea that was introduced in SF).

in fairness, the guy just endured a pretty rough helicopter crash - being a criminal mastermind doesn't mean you also have superman levels of physical strength or pain tolerance lol.. as much as i love Blofeld in OHMSS, i feel like the bobsled part is far worse in terms of undercutting Blofeld's menace than anything in SP - i mean, just seeing Telly in that helmet and goggles, it's hard to take him seriously :)) X_X

Yes it was, but this is the NTTD trailer thread.

I think his role is greatly overstated by some, I'm betting it'll be an extended cameo.

We can soon leave SP behind. Because of the bitter aftertaste.

I think it's horrible. The fast cuts and the constant flip (fade?) to black every half second were discombobulating. I had a headache after about 15 seconds of the barrage of confusing images and black blips. Seriously, who edited this? Stevie Wonder? And Malik's white faced make-up? I dunno... could be a complete disaster or something unique and scary.

Overall, I couldn't really see what the hell was going on so it's tough to have an opinion on it other than annoyance and bafflement.

It is a film directed by Michael Bay, so no wonder it can give a headache.

Oh who cares?!? The trailer's about to be "dropped" and then there'll be a blitz here of reactions, and your shananigans about SP will be a needle in a haystack. Frankly, we're all here for the new film. If you want to discuss what's past and gone, please do so in a proper thread.

That being said. I know the trailer is released at 13h30GMT, but aren't they doing interviews with the cast before that? How can one watch that if one's not stateside.
Lots of droppings around here, and none is the trailer. lol, kidding.

This is going to be a full day at Mi6. Imagine the traffic in a few hours. Bliss.
  • Sat here at work at my desk, counting down the hours until the trailer drops.

There aren't enough words to describe how excited I am to see this trailer, its been too long since we've had a Bond movie.

The brief teaser on Monday and the posters yesterday have me so hyped.

Everyone will get to have their sayings about the trailer. And everyone will be allowed their opinion. And everyone can try to counter another member's opinion. However, members who cannot do so in an orderly and respectful fashion will receive warnings fast and may end up temp-banned while the rest of us continue to have fruitful discussions. This day will prove a day of celebration for many of us, and absolutely no-one is going to sabotage the party. Thank you all for keeping a good spirit here.
