switch the bond actors (not just 007) to different films

edited May 2013 in Bond Movies Posts: 12,837
UPDATE Expanded the thread a bit after 4EverBonded sent me a message. Now it's for any Bond actor.

a bit of fun, which bond actors would you like to see in other films. Forget age or what year the film was made. I'd loved to have seen dalton take on CR, while I think brosnan could've been great in goldfinger. And I would've liked to have craig in OHMSS and DAF, and lasenby could've had something less challenging like YOLT. Moore's films were perfectly suited to him, but I'd have liked to see him in DAD, and dalton in TMWTGG except truer to the book (but keep nick nack, he's awesome)

    Dalton in FYEO and GE
    Connery in TSWLM
    Craig in LTK
    Lazenby in YOLT and TMWTGG
  • This may well have been attempted before somewhere down the line

For fun purposes if nothing else, Connery in Octopussy, (so you are the mysterious Octopoosy, Isht's not really in the whrist you know) etc, or Brosnan in You Only Live Twice, turning Japanese, (an Irish ninja!), or how about Lazenby in AVTAK, (get the soap George, ooh), the possibilities are endless

It probably has, i just thought it would be fun. If its been done before then mods can close the thread.
  • roger moore in casino royale 67 version
  • Moore in Casino Royale '06 would be better strictly for fun purposes

Anyone other than Connery in YOLT.

Dalton in FYEO and TMWTTG--the "water pistol" scene in particular.

    Moore in DAF.

    Brosnan in AVTAK--why not?

I think this would've been perfect. I like moore but he was too old in AVTAK, i think it would've been better with brosnan
  • Dalton in FYEO...that one seems like a no-brainer. I'd be curious to see him in GE but the finished film wouldn't have suited him. But a more serious version...I'd also be curious to see a passionate Dalton take on OHMSS.

Craig in FRWL to see him trying to figure out Tania's motivations...I'd love to see his subtle take on trying to read her true intentions during every scene they're in. I'd also like to see him in OHMSS. He could nail the action scenes and I'd love to see him and Rigg together.

Moore probably could have fit DAF pretty easily...it would interesting to see Bronsan in FYEO IF he was well-directed and they cut out the sillier bits.

Connery, in his prime, in Casino Royale
And while I love Dalton in the roll, Craig in The Living Daylights
  • Lazenby in DAF, for sure.

Craig in LTK. Sean in OHMSS would be an interesting experiment. Connnery in TMWTGG.

Brosnan never did anything for me. I would replace him in his films as follows:
    Moore in DAD and DAF
    Dalton in GE
    Connery, in TND and TWINE

Other films and actors I would leave "put".

Nice idea - I'll throw into the ring...

    Craig in DN
    Sir Rog in DAF
    Conners in TMWTGG

Brosnan in OHMSS - before I'm crucified let me explain. Brosnan, out of all the actors, was the most qualified to play a scene like the one at the end. I'd like to see how he would have done.

Craig in the entire Brosnan era (if not all, TWINE at least, his inclusion might make that movie leaps and bounds better).
Connery in LALD and TSWLM, Moore's two best films.
Moore in GF and DAF. My two least favorite Connery films, which would do far better as Moore films, because they're both ridiculous and stupid.
Dalton in OHMSS. Just... well... because.
Lazenby in OP. I don't know why, it just came to mind.
Brosnan in LTK. For some reason, going after drug dealers seems like it should have been Brosnan's gig.

Connery in MR. Connery's sexism vs Holly's feminism.
Lazenby in CR. He's already used to seeing loved ones die.
Moore in DAF. The camp nature of this film is more suited to him.
Dalton in QOS. Perfect for TD's dower nature.
Brosnan in AVTAK. Brosnan would have had plenty of dead women to kiss.
Craig in LTK. This film would have been more violent.

Edit: Agree with Bain. Brosnan would have pulled off the final scene of OHMSS.

The only switching I suggest is Sean out of DAF, Laz in. Laz can even have YOLT so all of Sean's Bonds would then be perfect classics.

Agreed. I think that the Blofeld trilogy should have been Lazenby's, but then have him step out for LALD so that Roger Epic Moore could come in!
  • Connery in OHMSS
    Connery in LALD
    Craig in DAD =))

    Connery in OHMSS
    Craig in DAD
    Brosnan in Casino Roylae
Brosnan in Qantum of Solace (he may have made the film worthwhile)
Dalton in Property of a Lady (The Original Bond 17)
    Lazenby in DAF

Lazenby in DAF- Let's face it the Tracy/Blofeld story deserved a proper resolution.

Moore in DAF- If Lazenby couldn't do it than the comedic tone of the film would have suited Moore's style better. I guess I just didn't like Connery going out on such a weak film.

Dalton in AVTAK- Timothy Dalton vs. Christopher Walken would've been pretty awesome. Plus Moore was just too old and Octopussy would've been the perfect film to retire on.

Dalton in Goldeneye- You can tell the movie was written with Dalton in mind. I just think he deserved more than 2 films.

And yes I would've loved to have seen that original Bond 17 with Dalton, rumored to have been titled The Property of a Lady.

Thats the biggest one for me too. Yes, Lazenby in YOLT and DAF for sure.

Possibly Dalts in AVTAK and maybe OP (with a few alterations to suit his Bond).

Sean in MR - we got a sneaky speak of him in the astronaut gear in YOLT.
  • Would love to have seen Moore in TLD (of which the first draft was rumoured to have been written with him in mind). I think it would have only needed minor changes for him to have pulled it off.

Also, for some reason, I've always liked the idea of Craig in LALD.

I've got mixed feelings about Dalton in GE. I know it was written with him in mind and I know its not Brosnan's strongest performance but I think, had Dalton been in GE, we wouldn't have had Sean (Dalton is about 10 years older than Bean and they are meant to be round about the same age), Isabella and even Frankie - all of whom are great IMO.

Plus I LOVE the archive shoot-out/tank chase, neither of which I can see being included with Dalton.

I do agree Dalton deserved a third film though.

I highly doubt it would've been cast the same had Dalton starred. And Dalton's actually closer to about 15 years older than Bean.

Dalton was born in 1946 and Bean 1959 according to Wikipedia so yeah a 13 year difference.
