  • May I also remind you that in AUF, Bond's likeness was portrayed by Andrew Bicknell?

The Bond in AUF reminded me a lot of Timothy Dalton, whether that's what they were going for or not! However, the voice of Bond was really un-Bondlike. He didn't sound very much like a 00 Agent to me!
  • Adam Blackwood? No, he was awesome. He did Bond's voice in TND, TWINE and Racing just before doing the AUF.

Ah, I didn't know that. So I guess he was the Bond video game veteran! I never said he was terrible, I just said that it wasn't spot-on 007.

You think he looked like Dalton? I always thought he looked like some kind of weird, semi-merger of Brosnan and Moore. Brosmoore!

Hahaha! Brosmoore! That's pretty good. But yes, he does remind me of Timothy Dalton in appearance. I mean they pretty much copied Dalton's features and added another guy's voice.

I've got to say, wearing the stealth gear that he's got on in the first few missions, he really doesn't feel like Bond to me. Once he dons that tux, though, he's Bond.

Who? Timothy Dalton or the representation of Bond from AUF?

The Bond from AUF. (Hence the "missions" thing.)

Yeah, I just didn't know if you meant the first few scenes of TLD. I don't know, he seemed Bond-ish to me in the stealth gear, especially in one of my favorite cutscenes from AUF in at the end of the first mission where he and Zoe are running away from the guards and he turns around real quick and fires his PPK, shoots one, and then ducks into the elevator at the last minute. That was Bond-ish!

He had Bond-like actions, but for some reason, he just feels like an overly-important British commando in the first few missions, and then "becomes" Bond once we get to "Cold Reception".
  • Guys, the likeness wasn't actually Brosmoore, it was Andrew Bicknell, okay? Just it was voiced by Adam Blackwood.

I know that, but before I knew he was modeled after anybody, I thought he looked like Brosmoore.

ahh, I understand. But, do you know that the original idea for AUF was to feature Connery's Bond in his 40s (Bond in DAF)? MGM denied the idea because of the timeline and the era, so they had to create their own pseudo-Bond (Bicknell).

^ I've never head about that. Do you have a link? All I know about the early development of AUF, was that it was intended as a PS2/XBOX/GC port of TWINE. But with 4 years having passed since the film, and not much of the game resembling TWINE all that much, the decision was made to turn the game into an original mission.

Oh, and that John Clesse's likeness was also to be included as Q, a pic of in-game Cleese was shown in a AUF preview in an issue of OPS2 Magazine UK, but EA weren't able to work out all the rights issue's, so the character became a generic Q.

This, I was not aware of. Much as I love Connery's Bond (second favorite, after Craig), I'm actually glad this didn't happen.

These two items, however, I did know. Though he was R in that game, MDS.

Say, this is probably a topic for a different discussion, but how many of you actually feel the games to be canon (at least the original ones, anyway)?

Really? because when i played TWINE he really sounded like Bond but in Agent Under Fire he sounded real deep voice

Probably because he was copying Brosnan in TND and TWINE, but while playing Brosmoore in AUF, he could invent a new voice.

Was he? It's been a while since I played AUF, but wasn't there a generic Q and a female R? IIRC, she shows up after the Tank chase in Bucharest.

No, there was R and then some woman who's name I don't remember. She does show up after the tank chase, though.

I wouldn't have minded seeing connerys bond in the present day, would've been fun

Yeah, would have been nice, but only if they either got Connery to do the voice, or a good Connery impersonator (I could have done just fine, and at the time the game was released, I was 11).

After hearing how he sounded in the FRWL game, I'd have liked them to have used an impresonator

Yes, but your physical prowess and your speech have nothing to do with one another.

Of course- I just wanted an excuse to quote Sean from NSNA. ;) Although, his vocal cords are still in pretty good shape.

I know, which is why it seemed weird, his old voice coming from his young body. But its not his fault, overall he did a decent job.

He did a passable job. I look at it this way: if they'd picked an impersonator, he might have impersonated Moore instead.
