Not really COVID-19 related, but I saw this trending on twitter last night and thought that I would share it here. This pretty much sums up the world of “2020” doesn’t it?

While I sincerely hope that the days to come are better for Ms. Jansing (MSNBC Cable News Anchor) – and for all of us, I fear that the this is just the beginning.

    Not about Covid-19, but:

Congo is hit by first Ebola outbreak in 2 years.

A ray of good news? Interesting article which attempts to pull together the varied symptoms of COVID-19.

    To quote:

“Months into the pandemic, there is now a growing body of evidence to support the theory that the novel coronavirus can infect blood vessels, which could explain not only the high prevalence of blood clots, strokes, and heart attacks, but also provide an answer for the diverse set of head-to-toe symptoms that have emerged.”
    …..
“The good news is that if Covid-19 is a vascular disease, there are existing drugs that can help protect against endothelial cell damage.”

Wow, here we are in riot season, and I still have all my Covid decorations up. Just a touch of black humour there. I'm a bad person. For what it's worth, 1968 was pretty terrible too, but we made it through...

The Orange Knotheadzee is pushing it. Covid-19 will keep sweeping through the U.S. like wild fire now. Police & protesters will both suffer losses. Families of both will suffer. The smaller # of provocateurs & bad cops will also pay.... but whatever... most of THEM don't love their older relatives anyway.

Funnily, I just revisited that film for the first time since the 90s. I think they ought to retitle that movie as "OK, BOOMER".

African American George Floyd, whose death in police custody triggered a wave of protests across the US, tested positive for the virus weeks before his death.

A 20-page autopsy report released by the Hennepin County Medical Examiner's Office shows he had the virus on 3 April.

However, because the virus's genetic code can remain in someone's body for weeks, it is likely that he was asymptomatic at the time of his death but showed a "persistent positivity from previous infection", said the medical report.

Wow, that's one bit of news that some people will enjoy pulling out of its context, I'm sure.

I don t see any relevance, and don t understand why this is even interesting. Unless he is reported as a covid19 death, which I am pretty sure he won t be.

May 30th was the biggest daily word-wide rise in new cases (just over 125,000 new infections). So despite Asia and Europe seemingly over the 1st wave of the pandemic, the world-wide cases are increasing at never-seen rate since the pandemic started.

This record has been beaten: Yesterday (June 4th) recorded the biggest daily world-wide rise in new cases, with 129,990 new infections. We are also back to almost 5,500 daily deaths.

Some very positive news for once:

Fiji (total population: 895,978) have cleared its last active case of Covid-19. All 18 confirmed cases have totally recovered, for a 100% recovery rate. Their last confirmed case was from 45 days ago.

They join Anguilla, Papua New Guinea, Seychelles, Greenland, Saint Kitts and Nevis, East Timor, Eritrea, Macao, the Falkland Islands, Saint Pierre et Miquelon, Saint Barthélemy, French Polynesia and the Faereo Islands as the only countries, cities or regions (either independent or semi-autonomous) to have cleared all confirmed cases with a 100% recovery rate.
