For once I paid for first class postage!
I've done this every now and then for CDs too and more often than not got them on the Friday or Saturday before release.
Well done to Amazon for picking up this HMV exclusive!
Film- Nothing more needs to be said. A fantastic Bond film in every sense of the word. 9/10
Video- This Blu Ray proves why Roger Deakens is the best in the industry. You can pause the movie at any point and take the image on screen and use it for a poster to promote ANYTHING. It transfers very well to Blu Ray and definitely reminds me of the Casino Royale release instead of the Quantum of Solace one where there was far too much dust.

Audio- You can tell why Skyfall's sound guys are nominated Oscars. Each sound is in sync and is crisp and fits perfectly with the film. Thomas Newman's score sounds great of course and is not overmatched by the film or vise versa.

Extras- It is MILES better than the releases we got for CR and QOS.
-Shooting Bond. Definitely meant to be played all at once. It's an interesting look in the making of the film. The problem is a lot of the footage was used in the video blogs leading up to the release of the film. There are a few great ones though, like the pre credits/credits and death of M.

-Commentary with Sam Mendes. This is the reason to get the Blu Ray. A great commentary track where Mendes hits every note you want to hear. He keeps your attention for the whole film and provides some great stories and you can tell how much fun he had making this film.

-Commentary with Michael G Wilson and Dennis Gassner. Not terrible but it doesn't flow like Mendes's did. If you've listened to other tracks with Wilson, you know what you're getting. There are a lot of pauses but both men still do relay a lot of good information. Still worth listening.

Extras- Not a ton but what there is is pretty great for Bond fans. And extra points for being better than the previous two Blu Ray releases.

Overall Blu Ray- A great edition to add to your Bond 50 set and is something I will be revisiting a lot.

Now what type of work could possibly keep you from spending 2 1/2 hours watching this beauty?
I'm stuck sitting RA Duty in my hall tonight, and as bad as I want to watch SF right now, I would be left with watching it on DVD. Blu-ray has ruined me.
I have to read a Dickens novel and do a write-up on it, complete a graphics project and memorize the entirety of The French Revolution by Monday and write two essays before class in that evening at which time we will be tested officially on the period.
I agree with you about the whole DVD/Blu-ray thing. Once you see a beautiful film in Blu-ray you never want to settle for less.
Exactly. I just cannot settle for the DVD version now, sadly.
Yeah, I can't wait until summer where not so much piles on me and I don't have to deal with egotists masquerading as college professors. All the reading, analyzing, reading, analyzing, papers, reading, analyzing, pop quizzes!, reading, analyzing and papers get annoying fast. I have had so much stuff to read and do write ups for in my classes that I haven't had the time to enjoy any personal reading of my own. Oh well, the price you pay for an education you could get with a library card at your public library. Thanks in part to Good Will Hunting for that joke.
Still, you often have a harder job than mine I am sure. I couldn't stand being a leader of anything where you have to count on other people and oversee their existences and act like you don't want to thwack them upside the head when they do predictably unsavory young adult acts. I bow to you for not committing homicide.
Thank you for that. I'm actually quite shocked I make it through some of these days without acquiring a weapon of some sort and going on a mass rampage. Take last night: I spend the entirety of the night helping out another RA as she tries to calm down a bunch of rednecks in the halls who are - literally - in tight boxers, almost to the point of thongs, cowboy boots, and nothing else, as they chase one another around the halls during quiet hours. In all honesty, I think some of these kids here are more childish than kindergarteners. It's pathetic.
I just couldn't pick up an overpriced, German-labeled, late (1st March) blue-ray at Saturn, you see ;)
Which shows, you are smart but I am real old fashioned in this. I never order clothes and virtuel tix etc just kill me - plane tix all that sort of thing. If it wasn't for DC, who more or less introduced me to the net, I would probably still be even more of a computer jerk. :(

Same here. I don't order much stuff online. I use Ebay a fair bit but I sell more stuff than I buy.

On Amazon.co.uk they were selling the regular AND the steelbook br+dvd+digital copy combo at the same price, £14.99.
Btw, is the digital copy "just" the movie or all the extras, too?
I mostly buy stuff like cds and dvds on Amazon these days. It's cheaper, and most stuff I want I wouldn't be able to find in my local shops, and when possible I want English language movies with the option of English subtitles so that I can use them if needed, or not use them. (I won't need any for SF, no incomprehensible accents or stuff like that... but I was happy to have English subtitles option for Our Friends In The North ;) ). A Scandinavian copy may have Scandinavian subtitles option only, which is annoying. I was even annoyed by subtitles when watching SF in theatres. :)
