    Could probably split out categories to worst cue vs worst sound effect. As I feel beach boys vs tire squeal are egregious in different ways.

    But my vote needs to go to the slide whistle. Could you imagine something like that for the TSWLM parachute, Thunderball jet pack, or GE dam jump? It didn’t just tarnish the magnificence of the stunt, it was never seen as iconic by the general public in the first place because the effect undermined the grandness of what was occurring on screen. Barry himself agreed how bad of a decision it was and just goes to show no one is perfect.

    I would say the slide whistle is the worst. The bizarre sounds of Dr. No is quite off-putting though and that makes it the worst of the gunbarrels.

    TMWTGG is going to win this hands down and definitely gets my vote, but surely Kananga's death whoopee-cushion sound effect should be in the offing for a strong second place, and more deserving of a mention over tyre squeal on sand?

    TMWTGG, the slide whistle for me. It makes a great stunt look like a fake with models, in spite of being done for real. (As a matter of fact, some people believed there was no driver in the car).

    OP Tarzan Yell was stupid, because in that scene, Bond wants to escape the hunters, and the best way to do that is to stay as discreet as possible, not advertising his presence for the whole world to know.

    I'll go with the slide whistle here as I have huge admiration for the stunt itself and feel like it's completely undermined by the sound choice.

    I do find The Beach Boys song to be utterly naff but I see it as setting the tone for the film. And its use is kinda funny in an ironic way. You can either get on board with it or not - it doesn't really add or take anything away.

    I'll go with the TMWTGG slide whistle. As @CraigMooreOHMSS stated, it completely undermines what was a pretty remarkable stunt.

    Pre NTTD, this was the James Bond movie franchise's lowest moment. I never thought they'd get any lower.

    I think the AVTAK PTS is otherwise awesome - I would've used an instrumental surfy tune instead of what we got. OP sound effect came during a sequence which featured other jokey stuff like 'Sit!', so at least all of it is contained in the jungle scene. Slide whistle gets my vote - I'd like to hear the Hornet's engine mid-air.

    I’m sure many of us have seen the jump minus the sound effect? It’s on one of the making of dvds, and you can probably find it on YouTube as well.
    Without any sound it seems very odd, I think probably using part of the Bond theme for such a stunt could’ve worked much better.
    Didn’t EON buy the rights to the stunt so no one could use it for a period of time?

    Yes that is correct! They paid a fee for the stunt and everything needed to be planned to the last detail. i am not sure if they bought the stunt before the finished script? Or whether they had Bond jumping the river and decided to pump it up with a stunt?

    Yeah I don’t get why the DN gunbarrel is on this list. I think the series of beeps and static or whatever it’s supposed to be actually works really well in the context of the film. Think rocket interference, radio interference, communication signals. It all works really well in the context of the film. Don’t know if Monty Norman had all that in mind when he wrote it but even if it’s just random stuff he put in without much thought then I have to say it still works really well. It’s very unique and adds an aura of mystery for the audience who really don’t know what to expect from Bond’s first adventure.

    It wasn't Monty Norman, it was from Daphne Oram's Atoms in Space. She was an electronic music pioneer, one of the members of the BBC Radiophonic Workshop who made some great leaps at the time.
    Apparently it was Maurice Binder's idea to add electronic noises and Norman Wanstall, the sound editor, came up with the idea of using Oram's work.

    I flap to the stage ready to give a good kick to the scene with the worst sound effect, cue. No cue is needed as I give the kick to Slide Whistle from TMWTGG.

    Also received kicks was Tarzan yell (three votes), Beach Boys (2 votes) and a write in for LALD and the death of Kananga.

    Lets move back to the best side of things and hand out a Bondie for best...ahem...amorous scene. At times during the series Bond and a female have connected in a bedroom scene, or leading up to a bedroom scene. Lets give accolades to the scene that deserves a shout out. Here are the nominees:
    • Tatiana's mouth is the right size FRWL used as a screen test scene for casting of Bond. This scene has quite a bit going for it. From the playful back and forth to the romance. Both actors play the scene well and it cements that Bond will have some feelings for the Russian defector!
    • Tracy pays off her debt OHMSS a great scene between Lazenby and Rigg. This scene features some nice witty lines. A call back ("I know a little about women.") The fact that Tracy still leaves the money after the sequence shows us that feelings are developing.
    • Two of a kind OP the sparks fly between Bond and Octopussy when he refuses her offer to wait for her. They say there is a fine line between love and hate and this scene highlights that and shows the passion that this two of a kind share.
    • Paris comes calling TND Bond waiting for Carver's goons to show up and gets a former lover in Paris. There is a tenderness here and some chemistry. Brosnan plays it cool with his hands off motion. But soon the coolness heats up and reveals that Bond still carries feelings for Paris.
    • Bond tends to Vesper when you think about it, the relationship between Bond and Vesper is slow played. Flirting, teasing, and then after a traumatic sequence some tenderness. Bond coming to the shower and sitting with Vesper is a tender moment that highlights that this tough blunt instrument has a heart for this treasury agent!
      EDIT Bond takes care of Vesper in the hospital CR Bond was feeling frisky after the ordeal with LeChiffre. Here we have a scene of Bond and Vesper finally and playfully engaging in some love making!

    So which scene is the best pre-coital lovemaking scene? Feel free to write in a vote if you feel I have missed a tender scene. Lets play with our heartstrings and see which of these scenes makes your heart sing!

    An unexpected, tender and a sequence beautifully played by both actors , coming after a very brutal fight set piece, it's probably my favourite scene after Bond and Vespers first meet on the train!
    OHMSS would be a close second!

    Amorous is Bond and Jinx in Cuba going a little too far. Not my favorite.

    Depends on how you qualify best, really. In isolation, the Paris/TND bit is well shot, scored, and acted. I just never really bought that Bond had feelings for her. He left many women before without a care, and nothing on screen really made me think Paris was any different, and takes a lot of punch out of the scene for me.

    Also not sure Casino Royale fits the brief for this one???

    I'll say FRWL for this one, but it has made me realise how 'throw away' these scenes are over the course of 62 years :D
