Full disclosure I'm a birdwatcher. I choose snake and mongoose fight while Bond watches from CR. It's like an open-air version of Siamese fighting fish. And reminds me of the other Craig Bond animal appearances. Dog on roof in QOS. Komodo dragon(s) plus that mouse in SF. Crows in SP. What will they think of for NTTD. Doctor hummingbird hopefully.
I forgot about the Betta fish from FRWL they might have been a good pick. Especially considering they were able to get one that was like SPECTRE and waited for the victor to be so exhausted that he would strike!
Nobody has brought up Albert from LALD. :)
Jack Hedley, who also plays Sir Timothy, so in their scenes together he’s in effect talking to himself!
Obviously Max was going to perform all the dialogue himself, but the union stepped in complaining that the bird was taking all the work away from their members.
That's quite fun, I didn't know that. I guess it sort of makes sense if the parrot is supposed to be mimicking him!
I'm sure actors have a very high embarrassment threshold but even so... doing a parrot voice has got to come close to triggering it!
He does manage to out-suave even Roger Moore in his delivery of that one line "I'll give you a nut".
My vote goes to...hmmm...shark in TSWLM! I hope he wasn't harmed in this final fight!
During the chase after they leave Khan's palace, the Tuk Tuk flies through the air and the Camel does a splendid head turn complete with sound effect...
Anyway, my vote is for the Elephant who knock's JW into the water in TMWTGG.
Poor Pussy :((
The pigeon in the audience does a double take with the announcement and flies off!
The votes show us the following:
Whew! What a list and what a zoo this place is! Okay as we clean up the stage from Max excitement and excrement we shall move on to another Bondie! This one for best Title Sequence. The Bond films have always had style and panache when it comes to the title sequences. This is going to be a hard fought battle! Time to vote for the best of the best! The nominees are:
Lets vote on this bunch of great title sequences and see who takes home the coveted Bondie!
Love the scenes from previous Bond films being put in the titles. Honorable mention to the unnominated Maurice Binder for Thunderball and You Only Live Twice and to Daniel Kleinman for Casino Royale.
And about Binder, there's a legendary B series director that said:
“There's more cinema on Dr.No's opening titles than on all Bergman's filmography"
— Jess Franco
Post-titles: 1995
In between we are treated to a surreal, dreamlike depiction of the collapse of the Soviet Union. Sickles are crushed, hammers are used. Stalin and Lenin statues are being brought down, Soviet flags fly off and a gun appears out of a woman's mouth. We enter and leave via gunbarrel. This is pure art.
(DAD looks also very good).
Yes. The woman, hammering the sickle with the big golden eye in the background at the end of the TS?
A little on the nose? Yes. Still amazing? Also yes.
Back in the early days of FRWL and GF the film makers simply projected things onto women’s bodies. Cheap as chips but stunningly effective. I’d love to see that approach get used again. I’m now imagining a new SP title sequence with shots of Rome, Aston Martins, Mexico skulls, crows, octopi etc all projected onto a semi-naked dancer. How brilliant that would have been :)
Anyway GF for me, although I really like TSWLM and OHMSS too.
