    HALO jump -> Devonshire dive

Another great segment I didn't mention. Along with the motorbike jump, one of the last truly great practical stunts we've seen in the series.

    1. Stealth boat finale
    2. An Ericsson a day keeps Dr. Kaufman away
    3. Hamburg break in and break out
    4. The PTS
    5. Q scene at airport

It looks like the PTS and Dr. Kaufman get the most votes. I'm definitely more a Dr. fan! He seems to be smart (well...obviously not smart enough), the dialogue is very funny and Bond shows that he is also a professionel. The actoris very charismatic. It's a special character: although this villain has only one scene and isn't important for the plot, he sticked in my mind from the first time I've seen TND and I'm always looking forward to his appearance. I also like the fact that Stamper is very upset by his death and wants to torture Bond for it.

Having to miss a few scenes I really like, but I think my top 5 would look something like
    1. Elevated car park chase
    2. Q scene, especially filling in the insurance waiver
    3. PTS as a whole
    4. M's briefing with Bond inside car
    5. Motorbike chase

I expected your number one @Max_The_Parrot.
You are probably the first mentioning the briefing in the car. Having M, Moneypenny and Bond together in a car is definitely something new (and gives it a certain “urgency“ and I also like Moneypenny's comment (but I've read in other threads that several members here wouldn't agree with the two of us).

    1. Stealth boat finale
    2. PTS
    3. Cruise missile approaching and Bond escaping
    4. MI6 and CIA observing the events (PTS and finale)
    5. Motorcycle chase

I credit the briefing in the car also, but i don't like enough for Top 5. But car park scene be in my top 5. But it was not easy to rank, for my Top 3 sometimes Top 2 Bond movie.

Any last votes? It's still a very close head-to-head duel between the PTS and the Kaufman scene.

    1. Rock climbing climax at Meteora
    2. Bond meets Columbo
    3. Bond and Melina dragged by boat over reef
    4. Underwater diving scene
    5. Bond and Melina explore Corfu town
    6. Locque’s demise

I’m of the opinion that the second half of FYEO is near perfection. The first half/pre titles and score are its weak points, but from the moment they return to Corfu to the Meteora finale it’s spectacular.

@Junglist_1985 For me it's the other way around, though since I've re-read the Fleming short story collection of the same name I feel I should revisit this one soon.

    But for the moment:
    PTS
main titles (really love the underwater stuff here)
    Gonzalez villa mayhem
    Drive in the country
    Cortina arrival and Ferrara meeting
    Ski shoot jump!
    Casino scene
    At Lisl's
    Beach action
    Meeting Columbo
    Albanian warehouse + Locque's demise
    Investigating the shipwreck
    Keelhauling
    "Putting it mildly, 007"
    Mountaineering
    "That's détente, comrade."

Really have to watch this one again.

    Ah, now we're talking!
Lots to enjoy here in FYEO. To narrow it down though!
    1) Keelhauling scene. Brilliant sequence, well directed
    2) Bond chasing Locque and subsequent killing by kicking car over edge
    3) Casino scene. I love this set piece. Its dark and atmospheric! Fleming would approve.
    4) Ski chase, always cool set pieces
    5) PTS, up to Blofeld pick up on helicopter skid!!!

Lots more, car chase, Opening sinking of trawler, mountain climbing, Bonds first meet with Colombo!

Roger time again! Are you ready @Max_The_Parrot?

Am I ready for another Roger movie? This should answer your question! :)

Ahh, FYEO. As you have probably gathered, I'm all for the outlandish Bonds, of which Roger reigns supreme, but I do also love FYEO. Roger is Roger, and whilst this is a darker, more serious Roger, it still features all the tropes that make a Bond film a Roger Bond film. And sometimes I like to leave all the excitement and over the top action of MR or TSWLM and just sit back and enjoy some gentle Sir Rog Bonding. FYEO fits that bill nicely!

I also think Roger looks in superb physical form here. Not quite at the peak of his TSWLM/MR physique, but he absolute sells the 'mature secret agent with years of wisdom, knowledge and experience' ... this is a Bond that won't go off the rails, won't succumb to youthful over-excitement, knows exactly what needs to be done and how to get it done. Britain is in safe hands when you send FYEO's Bond on the mission!

Lots of the superb moments already mentioned.

Of course I love the PTS, the whole 'bald Blofeld/not Blofeld' section is bonkers Bond as good as any Roger film, so that's right up my alley! I love joining in with the 'Mister Booooooooooonnnnnnnnnndddddddddd.......' as Blofeld plummets down the chimney stack, and of course 'I'll buy you a delicatessen, in stainless steel' is one of the all-time great Bond movie quotes (well, in my parrot cage anyway!) I mean, 'Have you no respect for the dead?', 'I trust you had a pleasant fright' ... the lines keep coming thick and fast! Lovely!

But I do also love the way Roger plays the opening moments of the film at the cemetery visiting Tracy's grave. Such a look of tenderness and vulnerability on Bond's face. He really can play those moments so well with just the little facial expressions. Top stuff Sir Rog!

Plenty more moments to keep the bonkers Bond fan happy - of course the 2CV sequence is brilliant in the way it combines the outrageous comedy of Bond squeezed into such an undignified car and the genuine drama and quality of stunt work it involves. Plus the obligatory moments of eyebrow raising and sly nods for Roger. An absolute pleasure to watch every time. And the ski-chase has plenty of action, speed and excitement.

As for the climb up to the monastery, OMG for me this is one of THE most heart-stopping, butt-clenching, tension filled sequences of any Bond film. The near silence of it all, with just the wind whistling and Melina, Columbo etc watching frozen in anticipation. It's genius. The monastery set is also great eye candy.

Whilst I can't get as enthusiastic about Melina, Bibi is likeable in a 'fish out of water' way, and it's nice to see that Roger 'I can always find time for a snog' Moore does the right thing and acts paternally towards her.

Of course, we all love the demise of Locque, and again despite showing a hard edge to Roger that we don't see often, he totally sells that scene and it works wonderfully. However I have to give a nod to watching Roger huff and puff his way up those endless steps to reach him beforehand ... poor Rog, he is getting on a bit! Love it!

And of course, Q never fails to raise a smile. 'A nose, not a banana Q!!' That whole scene with the 3D visual identigraph, which takes up an entire room, is retrotastic! And you can't help but raise a knowing smile at poor Sharon staying behind late to bring the tea! Well, it is the 80s after all!! And what more appropriate place for Bond to meet up with Q later but in a confessional box! Snigger-tastic!

Even seeing the Lotus Esprit (in turbo form, both white with go faster stripes and fiery bronze versions) is a squeal out in delight moment, given that the Lotus in TSWLM is my all-time favourite Bond car).

Oh I could go on, but suffice to say Roger delivers an absolute cracker of a film once again, can't wait to see how the voting pans out!!
  • FYEO is a stacked film, so many good stunts and arguably Moore’s coldest moment as Bond:

    1. Kicking Locque’s car off the cliff
    2. Keel hauling
    3. Mountain climbing
    4. Ski chase
    5. Car chase

FYEO belongs to the better half of thr Bond films. Simply because the action is very strong: Creative, funny, some outstanding stunts and THAT climbing scene. @Max_The_Parrot described this scene perfectly.
Columbo is one of my favourite allies, probably my favourite. Such a likeable fellow. And he knows how to fight, too.
I generally prefer the more serious entries but have to admit that FYEO could even have a few jokes more.

@M_Balje are there really horses somewhere in this movie? Can't remember any.
