2. Ice palace car chase. It actualy be in two parts and whyle second part is a bit short, i think Peter Lamont and his team try again some old Bond scool. It be very dificult to get ice cold enough. I also don't mind flipover in first part and invisible car trick in the second part.

5. Van Bierk. Bond at a bomb in suitecase of diamonds and then helicopter land for Bond changed him self with Von Bierk.
Over all those years i only have it 5-6 times complete because the movie whant to much and some things should not be in Bond movie. Outside of the movie teaser trailer is one of my favorites and SE DVD till today is best release of the movie.

Let's go back to good old Rog. After DAD another movie which is usually ranked a bit lower but I'm sure that you will find again enough reasons why this movie deserves to be rewatched again by any Bond fan (and film fan with good taste in geneal) ;)

As for the action, I always enjoy the succession of karate bouts in Hai Fat's dojo and yes even the silly fight with Hip's nieces once Bond leaps outside. And despite J.W. Pepper's involvement, the later AMC Hornet chase really is quite thrillingly shot and edited. The two funhouse showdowns that bookend the film are highlights as well. Both of 'em true exercises in suspense.
One more perhaps less obvious scene I rather like is when Bond shows up on Hai Fat's grounds posing as Scaramanga. It starts off playfully with Bond casually smoking his cigar and surprising Hip by climbing over the fence, and then you have the invitation to a swim by the skinny-dipping Chew Mee (bless the pen of Tom Mankiewicz and the 70s!). But the real kicker here is the reveal that Scaramanga and Fat had indeed met before and that Bond is the one being played. It usually isn't a good idea for the audience to be a step ahead of the hero, but here the development adds a much needed element of danger to the proceedings.
2. Bond meets Scaramanga at the Muay Thai match. I love Lee's monolgue in this scene and his delivery is just brilliant.
3. Lunch with Scaramanga - much better than the actual duel. Both Moore and Lee are excellent.
4. Scaramanga anticipates Hai Fat's retirement.
5. Scaramanga caresses Andrea with his powerful weapon - quite an erotic scene but tastefuly done, especially with Barry's wonderful music. Maud Adams is very beautiful and very convincing as the mistress in distress.
It's not really surprising that every memorable scene (in a good way) in this film involves the great Christopher Lee. Such a shame the final duel and his demise are such a letdown.
Still a classic.

3. M’s base on the half sunken liner (the Queen Mary?). It’s bonkers but in a good way. I particularly like the glimpse of a MiG-21 being salvaged from the water, it shows that it’s supposed to be an actual working British military base rather than just an odd palace for M.

5. Am probably alone here but I really like the two nieces fighting all the guys in the karate school. I was a young teenage boy when I saw this film and I loved that scene, I’ve had fond memories of it ever since :))
DAF, LALD and TMWTGG form a trilogy in a way, they’re all quite similar in tone and they share a sort of “will this do?” attitude. They all feel slightly sleazy, which I really like.

I can't help but having a big smile on my face while Hip's nieces shove Bond out of the way and kick-ass, and likewise when the little elephant boy turns up ... 'For you mister ...'! and Bond gives him a helping hand (I also love how much Roger protested he wished he hadn't done that in later life given his UNICEF ambassador role, as if it was infinitely worse than almost breaking Maud Adams arm!) Mary Goodnight in that bikini ... and the waitress in the Bottoms Up Club!!
The Queen Mary set piece is fab, like something out of an episode of The Avengers. And Mary Goodnight in that bikini ... and the waitress in the Bottoms Up Club!!
The re-appearance of JW delighted me as a little kid, and I particularly like the banter between him and James whilst in the car showroom and during the car chase. Clifton James is a master of the comedy expression! The moment he produces his wallet full of identity cards is comedy gold! (Look, remember I still have the same sense of humour I had when I was 7 and watching this!!) Don't forget Mary Goodnight in that bikini ... and the waitress in the Bottoms Up Club!!
The 'funhouse' set itself is great, with it's multi-coloured lighting, endless shadowy corners and fun features such as the mirrors and sideshows. Heck, I'd even nominate Roger Moore's waxwork, if I could have that stood in the corner of my living room I'd jump at the chance, with or without a complete set of fingers! Also Mary Goodnight in that bikini ... and the waitress in the Bottoms Up Club!!
There's just so many little moments I love in here, the little exchange where Bond requests Q rustle up a third nipple - Roger's impish little grin, Q's exasperated sigh. Andrea's dead-pan (get it?) expression as she sits dead whilst Scaramanga and Bond natter away for ages - she looks so .... dead!!
And pretty much any moment with Nick Nack in - yes EVEN the suitcase fight at the end, in fact maybe particularly the suitcase fight at the end, it's so 70s Roger Bond, and i LOVE 70s Roger Bond! If I had to pick a Nick Nack moment though it would be where the camera pans down and we see him adjusting his tie in the shop window camera, outdoing Bond in a Bond moment. Oh, let's not forget Mary Goodnight in that bikini ... and the waitress in the Bottoms Up Club!!
Damn, I could go on and on ... 5 favourite moments from TMWTGG you ask??? Impossible to pick just 5 I say!!

I'm not a big fan of the nieces (although they don't bother me either. But the rest of your list are moments I like a lot, too @IGotABrudder
Good that you mention Lazar @GoldenGun. I thought this moment was kind of boring as a teenager but enjoy it more and more with every new watch. The moment when Bond shoots between his legs with his ice cold comment is great.
I really missed your humour @Max_The_Parrot. Great to read another funny and enthusiastic post of you. Your adoration for the Moore era is catching ;)
I also think that Clifton James is pure comedy gold and always loved (and still love it!) the moment when he takes out his wallet with all the cards.
----Wait, didn't you forget to mention the lovely waitress in one of your last paragraphs??? She won't forgive you.

That's kind of you to say. Re. Tamahori's direction is energetic and forceful, which contrasts with Spottiswoode's, and especially, Apted's safe, even staid, direction. Tamahori gets the film and grabs it by the scruff the neck. Of course, he was too energetic, and his attempts to modernize the series led to some, erm, unfortunate decisions. But as you said, every Bond film has plenty of good stuff buried within it.
1) PTS, Lee is particularly good here. Very menacing!
2) "A water pistol?" The roughing up is a bit out of place for Moore, but not for Bond!
3) Lazar, best sequence for me.
4) Plane flight to Scaramangas island
5) Car jump. Have read recently that the whistle was John Barrys idea and that Cubby hated it!

Good that you mention the duel at the beach @marc. The resulting "duel" doesn't satisfy my expectations, not even close. But the beginning with the two men standing back to back, gun in the hand, on this beautiful beach with Nick Nack counting, is great.
Several top five moments were already listed for this film. It seems that some of you know exactly which moments they love the most and you don't need any further discussions.

Am I the only who thinks that the scene with Goodnight in the closet is so wrong (and therefore so funny) that it is a strong contender for a top five?
Me too. Pretty much the whole part starting in the Bottoms Up club and ending with Hip taking Bond away.

That is indeed a great sequence. Bond noticing Nick Nack straightening his tie in the display television is wonderfully weird and that close-up of Scaramanga taking aim with his golden gun is probably one of the film's single most defining shots (well, either that or Goodnight accidentally activating the Solex with her bum ;) ).
