What's it worth?? Show and Appraise your Bond Collection.

edited April 2012 in Merchandise Posts: 645
Over the years I've been a modest collector of Bond films, games, books, collectables, magazines, and wot nots. I was recently on EBay and I had seen a few things I owned and they were worth less that I bought them for years ago and I was surprised at some of the turn outs. So half part of me who would LOVE to check out everyone else's BOND collection and other part wondering what mine is worth, I've made this Discussion to do learn more about the value(s) of our Bond collectables.

Of course I understand alot of people's point of view on the "Priceless" aspect, some things are worth more to you than the money it's worth for sure. But it's nice to see some of our collections (if you are willing to share), to see some unique items, and possibly share if your selling any items on EBay.

So take a few quick pics of your Bond treasures (if you're willing) and share with the world. Your opinions are welcome to the idea discuss the values our collectables. (Keep in mind there only opinions of values, not to say your treasures are only worth X amount, also some items may be rare to specific countries. - For instance, I'm in the US and I find it hard to get a hold of a lot of my ideal collectables, but I'm sure it may be a likewise around the world. )

(Only looking for the opinion of what my 80% is worth.)
Here it is, 80% of it, there are a few little things I'm forgetting, and the rest is in storage, but here's most of my Bond collection. Now I am not in any way, saying I have a huge collection, I'm sure there are many of you who could trump my collection by a long-shot, and I'd love to see your collections, this is just to start the thread.

excluding ( --in storage-- few more dvds, vhs, couple laser discs, couple record soundtracks, more magazines, lighter sets, micro machine sets, more video games, board games (old & new), cant remember what else oh and my Aston Martin...... joking)

Also I understand this may be a task, but it was worth it to me, going through things I forgot I had, If you have any questions about anything let me know and I'd love to see your collections. PS: I dream to have a Bond collectables room, anyone already done it?

Same- I've thought about it a lot. Hardcore fans of Star Trek, Indiana Jones etc. have turned their spare rooms into custom cinemas, and I must say, I don't care how geeky the owner seems- they're absolutely awesome! :-bd

I would love to see (and have!) an in-house cinema using a Bond theme (villain's lair, anyone?).

@M_Balje Sweeet! Thanks for the post! Love the cars, card board cut out and the VHS/DVD collections, I hadn't seen those version of the VHS/DVD cases before. I heard a few tracks from Bond Shine, nice. Oh and the Heineken stuff, love it! I have a few coasters of 007 Heineken, that's all. Are those VHS/DVDs from the US or ? I've just never seen them before. Thanks!

@QBranch absolutely, you've got the right idea. Can't wait to see what all you have.

@RogueAgent Hollowed out volcano, rofl. It's possible! haha

@QBranch also I was looking at the link ( http://www.bornrich.com/entry/top-12-most-luxurious-custom-made-home-theaters/ ) and I was thinking of cool bond lairs... do you remember the underwater lair that was an aquarium?, that would be on my top 3 for sure haha... sounds expensive though haha...

Yes, unfortunately it all comes down to money. Although a Doctor No or Stromberg Atlantis lair would look fantastic. I guess you could fake the fish tanks by using projectors or oval-shaped TVs. They're pretty easy to find, right? ;) Maybe the cinema chairs could look like the white sculpted ones in Stromberg's lair.

@QBranch yes thats even better with the projectors (would look more authentic to the film) haha

@M_Balje I may have seen that advertisement but no I've never seen the 07 number on the spine version, we have several variations here in Virginia but not that. Thanks for the links.

I own the 007 on the spine DVD version, bought 1 film per fortnight at the library in 2003-2004, all the films from DN to DAD.

Is it insane to buy all the versions, just because there are different variations of graphics??? I'm in the middle haha. (although I do own a couple of doubles for that reason already)

Personally, I think it is - but each to their own. ;) I have the 1996(?) VHS collection interstate, and the 2006 UE DVD collection. That's all. From CR onwards, I'll just buy each new movie as they come out.

(These aren't my photos, as my VHS collection is interstate), but these are the collections I own:

2006 UE DVD collection (minus the box and casino chips). I bought them all individually:

Also include a numberd storyboard with one of the twelve storyboards and a storyboard list with those 12 storyboards in mini version.

It whas a good end to end the Bond VHS collection. If there have done some simalar with Twine i am sjure i have buy it too, but there din't. So insteed of buying Twine on Vhs, i saw the release on dvd in 2000 a change to be it my first dvd.

Vergot other picture from 1999 or 2000

    twineposter1999.jpg

From Twine i have all 4 posters who be released (The fire girl and the white poster who is simalar to the soundtrack) and the radio station poster who promoted the Vhs and Dvd. It be the movie with the moost posters because of that last poster. TMND there release 3 posters. All 7 be released in the correct format. This also count for the 2 of Goldeneye and the 3 from DAD (I don't have teaser with the gun on the ice and the Jinx one, http://www.impawards.com/2002/posters/die_another_day_ver9.jpg < only the one with the ice.). Something the DC era can learn from. I have the only one who be avaible with the delete scene's with Comingsoon as subtitle but it not be in the 100x70/98x68 format more like the one from LTK (Soundtrack art).
  • Hi Everyone, Interesting thread. Living in South-East Asia I find it difficult to obtain items other than through the Internet or with the help of friends living in various parts of the world. However I do manage to pick up one of two more unusual items, managed to find a DVD in the Philippines titled " Gengis Bond" ? ,which I guess indicates the worldwide appeal of the James Bond movies, when I figure how to upload a picture I will do so. In the meantime I have attached a link to my site, which some of you may have already seen.

Nice site/collection, @jamesbondasia. I can see your collection is worth a lot. Here's how you can upload images to MI6.

    Right-click the image.

    Select 'Copy Image Location'.

Paste the URL into your MI6 post.

    Highlight the URL.

Click the image icon at the top of the post window.

    Post comment!
  • Thank you Mr Q, Taken up a lot of my time over the years although have never thought about the value, would not like to think how much I have spent over the years, basically just enjoyed the thrill of searching and collecting, not for any financial gain. Tried your suggestion about uploading pictures however, right clicking on the image only gives me the option to "copy" not "Copy image location" , straight copy does not work, maybe I am just not up to speed with the world of computing but will keep trying. I was interested in buying some of the toy watches (like the ones you own) from ebay, but they're a little expensive for my liking.

Okay, I guess you're trying to upload pictures from your computer to the internet. If you make an account with Imageshack or Photobucket (I have an account with Photobucket) you can upload pictures from your computer to Photobucket, then upload your pictures from Photobucket to MI6. You can upload from Photobucket or Imageshack to MI6 via the method I described in my previous post. Good luck!

If anyone can explain the uploading method any better for @jamesbondasia, please be so kind as to do so. :)
  • Hi all, long time lurker here but first post, I'm deliberately posting in a thread where I won't end up in a massive argument, which is the way many threads on here seem to go.

I have all sorts of the usual bond memorabillia, but in terms of personal value, I guess these guys would be difficult to part with, the Planet ocean is the Ltd Edition Casino Royale, which came on a rubber strap, hence the aftermarket bracelet.

    Regards,

Welcome aboard @Commander_Skyfall! Sweet collection- I'd like to 'permanently borrow' your watch sometime ;) Oh, and don't be afraid to speak your mind just to avoid arguments- we're all entitled to our opinion. Just remember to have fun! :-bd
  • Having only one; anything else would be too revealing, namely the SPECIAL OO7 EDITION of '(from) A View To A Kill'..!
wshrp( according to me; "James Bond in 'How To Kill A Rhino'.."..!)

There's a video of all of the box's contents on YouTube @jolearon. You really do get a lot with it, those who own it are very lucky. I'll see if I can dig that video out.

@jamesbondasia absolutely great site, I could only make it through a few pages, (I became too jealous to continue) hahaha.. I'd love to find some of those magazines. Thanks for sharing!!!

@Commander_Skyfall nice, very stylish! And yes feel free to jump in and give your opinions. (I try and stay away from too much of that myself, doesn't always work, haha)

So after seeing some of these, I'm ready to go on a world tour and get caught up on some unique Bond collectables.

@Samuel001 yes that would be nice, thanks
