I liked him too, and I give props to Renner for turning down what would have been a cameo with him dying in FALLOUT. He’ll probably never be asked back, but at least his character isn’t just killed off (unless they decide to just mention it in dialogue).

It’s telling they gave him Cruise’s signature stunt in GHOST PROTOCOL where he has to drop down, but with magnets instead of wires. But then in ROGUE NATION he’s just kinda there to talk to Baldwin and tag along.

What I think is quite fun about that bit is that he gets the Cruise-style stunt, but they entirely fail that part of the mission :D

He’s a publicity machine. He saw how things went downward in the 2000s, he’s gonna make sure his image is good!

If he left Scientology and made himself accountable, he’d probably get higher in my estimation… unless his Scientology activities are THAT bad… then I’ll just separate the art from the artist, as I always do anyway.

I didn't know that, fair play to him. I thought he was too busy with Marvel and his schedule clashed

For an extended role like in the two he appeared, I think he was too busy to do that. The director had the idea of filming a scene where he dies and uses it as the opening scene of the movie. Maybe similar to how Josh Holloway’s role was. It would have been a day or two worth of work and Renner was like “nah, I’m good”.

Would hope he appears again soon. With him getting a HAWKEYE series, maybe too busy. Oh well.

I consider him for a Bond movie, but mabey he is more intresting for Mission Impossible movie. What about Simon McQuoid. Australian directer of new Mortal Kombat movie for future Mission Impossible movie, the 9 ?

And even music close to the end (2.14 and later) this Mortal Kombat trailer look like on Mi theme

Mission Impossible is like James Bond on trains: their movie sequences are never boring.

    Is the carriage standing vertically?

I wonder is that going to be a rotating set? It'd be a cool shot if the idea behind it is that the train is going to derail.

It certainly looks like a rotating set to me. I'm guessing it's dangling off a cliff, or perhaps even falling?

My guess as to how the scene goes: Ethan motorbikes off the cliff, parachutes, lands on the train, fights some goons, gets inside, and either has to retrieve or stop someone/something before it literally runs off the rails and crashes.

It's interesting this train sequence. A few characters seem to be involved...

I don’t think it’s rotating (if you mean it spins upside down), I think it’s standing vertically above his head, with McQ holding his phone under his chin and shooting up with the carriage above him like a chimney. Notice how the curtains are all dangling down towards him.

Curtains ? You remind me of a line from DAF. At any rate -- this looks like yet another VERY impressive prolonged action/stunt scene from the M:I folks

Yes, curtains, on the windows. Or are you in the US? I guess you'd say drapes.

Just as long as he doesn't motorbike off the cliff and fly into a plane before it crashes. I've been through one of those scenarios and wouldn't want to repeat it.

Good catch! It must be. I wonder is it going for a steep slide down a valley, in that case?

It is a great sequence. My favourite in the series, followed by the Cruiseliner capsizing from Uncharted 3.

That was my initial reaction, but they had a helicopter hanging off a cliff in the previous film and I thought they would maybe go in a different direction.

Even JJ Abrams (MI producer) said it was one of the most thrilling sequences of anything he’s seen in recent years.

Yes it's ambitious to turn Uncharted into a movie series when it's hard to imagine it will become anything but smaller in scale.

Oh, they definitely have to be one and the same. I'm really, really excited to see this sequence on the big screen.

Ah, so he’s basically gonna do what Spielberg did.
