Honestly if they got him to reboot the franchise with someone like Jack Bannon as the New James Bond 007
I could easily see it being the best bond film to date for me and blowing my current favorite Casino Royals out of the water
Especially if we get a Spangled Mob trilogy from him
But on to mission impossible
The trailer looks good
Other than Jack Bannon, I agree 100%
There are definitely a handful of nods in there (the little yellow car being the most obvious) but nearly half of these comparisons are a bit of a reach. I mean, 'vehicle driving across landscape establishing shot' is hardly exclusive to Bond, is it?
I kind of like the GoldenEye title sequence one, though. That's kinda cool.
Funnily enough, with regards to the Fiat, the similarities to Bond aren’t really the important thing there: the issue is that there’s a bit of action in the new Indiana Jones film (due out next year) where our heroes make their getaway… in a Fiat 500 :)
I'm fine with it. Honestly. This just looks so good, I couldn't care less if it ended up in full crossover with the Bond universe.
Aside: could you imagine that as a twist? Purely dreaming here, but how ridiculous would it be if Hunt had to meet a British contact or something in Dead Reckoning Part 2 and it's Pierce Brosnan. (Playing an 'unnamed' character like when Lazenby showed up in that UNCLE movie, of course). But the film would heavily imply he's an aged Bond. Who, of course, would have been in his prime roughly when Ethan Hunt's franchise began in the mid-90s...
Or reference, at least...been a while. Flint in a bathroom fight
must do some work :-)
I don't think she's lost an eye: she's using a precision rifle so she's covering her eye to help her use the telescope- apparently that's something they do sometimes.
I think you're right, then, as that's the only scene where she seems to don it. I saw some non-desert BTS shots of her with one so I wasn't sure.
Mornings are for coffee and Denis Villeneuve movies.
- Huge party or gathering involving a fistfight - check!
- Car chase in a crowded big city - check!
- Cruise running... a lot - check!
- fight on top of a moving train - check!
etc...
The setpiece involving the world war one plane for MI:8 sure looks promising, though.
Agree, has very much a seen it all before vibe to it!
This. The same could be said about NTTD or any other big budget action film these days (or in any genre, really). Seems a weird complaint and takeaway from what I felt was an exciting and fantastic looking action trailer but everyone has their own tastes, I guess. Can't please everybody.
Yes indeed. I can't think of many films where a full-size steam engine plummets over a cliff or the star of the film does a skydive on a motorcycle, but folks will look for what they've seen before and complain about it I guess :D
