Well to be fair, Every Mission Impossible movie had a pre credit sequence of sorts.

MI:1 Ethan interrogates the russian mobster.
MI:2 The Airplane crash/Ethan climbing the mountain.
MI:3 The interrogation scene with Davian.
    MI:4 Prison escape.

So what do you think about the first track?

@Gustav_Graves, It's fantastic. :-bd If SPECTRE's score isn't up to that caliber I will be disappointed.

Quick review about the first track:
It reminds me a bit of David Arnold's "African Rundown" from "Casino Royale". It has plentiful of Moroccon-esque percussion, though it lacks a clear distinctive melody, but it does have a lot of pace/rhytmn changes. It's purely an action track, and for that it should be very effective when you see the film on the big screen.[/quote]

I agree. It recalls African Rundown but still has notes of the MI sound. It's very action oriented and exciting and should heighten tge experience of the action scene.

Mimicking Patrice's sniper rifle from Skyfall?

    That looks like badass shotgun.

For sure, but the pose, and the style of the gun (tubular, short magazine, scope) kind of looks like Patrice and his rifle in Shanghai.

Absolutely stunning posters. Love them. Just one question: Why releasing those so damn late! Promotion-wise it's not a very good call. Next week has already the premiere of the film...

95% on RT so far. Nice.
Hear hear, the first track from Joe Kraemer's score for "Mission: Impossible - Rogue Nation". The track "Moroccan Pursuit" is part of the opening/pre-credits sequence of the film
The opening sequence? Where did you learn that? Every single review I've read has....
... the England/plane sequence as opener.

Yup, the first ratings are coming in for "Mission: Impossible - Rogue Nation". Remember, it's very early days. After around 26 reviews "Skyfall" still stood at 100%:

    http://www.rottentomatoes.com/m/mission_impossible_rogue_nation/
    96% --> RottenTomatoes.com:
    25 FRESH
    01 ROTTEN

    http://www.metacritic.com/movie/mission-impossible---rogue-nation
    78% --> Metacritic.com
    10 POSITIVE
    03 MIXED

By the way, this review is very positive about the film:
    http://variety.com/2015/film/reviews/mission-impossible-rogue-nation-review-tom-cruise-1201547859/

Some quotes, which confirmed my guesses:
“Rogue Nation” feels like the most dramatically sustained and conceptually unified picture in the series. To be sure, McQuarrie isn’t as flamboyant a stylist as his predecessors Brian De Palma and John Woo, and although it shares with “Ghost Protocol” the same superb cinematographer (Robert Elswit), the new film has an altogether darker, more workmanlike palette, with little of the previous film’s eye-tickling compositional flair."
"But whatever the filmmaking may lack in visual or visceral impact, McQuarrie (whose past collaborations with Cruise include directing “Jack Reacher” and scripting “Edge of Tomorrow”) more than compensates on the written front; his screenplay (based on a story conceived with Drew Pearce) achieves an admirable complexity without sacrificing coherence in the process."
“Rogue Nation” exudes a knowing sophistication and a winking sense of fun that make it the most philosophically brooding film in the series, acknowledging the soul-crushing futility of so much intelligence work, especially for those who have been smeared and disavowed by their own agency.

I'm asking myself: Could this 5th film be the most intelligent, slightly darker one of the franchise? Could it be the best one to date? Well, I will find out on August 8th, when the film premieres here in Spain ;-). But it looks like the answers to those questions will be "Yes!"

"philosophically brooding", "soul-crushing futility", wow, did someone just establish the latest term fashion ;-)?

Better than "great action" and "perfect entertainment", which both sound dull and uninspiring. It seems, also "Mission: Impossible" gets the "become darker-treatment", like the Bond films have experienced the past decade :-).

Good to see this movie getting favourable reviews. So far the spy genre this year has been great.

Criticism of a film is not supposed to be a master class in prose or pretentiousness.
Yes, I think M:I gets the getting-darker treatment. I hope that trend dies very soon. I have no use for depressing pictures.

I think the author didn't wrote that review to show off his vocabulary skills. I don't get it why people get "hot-tempered" when someone is using a bit of elitist language, when overall the review is simply raving and shouting "5 stars!" for this film. That latter fact should not be forgotten. Henceforward I will most definately see this film ;-).

I´m not sure if you were referring to me with "people" (since I was the only one commenting), but I was being sarcastic, more in an amused way, far from hot-tempered. And that doesn´t change the fact that I desperately want to see the film.

Paramount is giving away all of the Mission: Impossible movies for FREE on UltraViolet - US only

For those of you in the US with digital movie collections, here's an opportunity to get the first 4 Mission Impossible films for free. Follow the links posted in the thread below.

    https://www.reddit.com/r/freebies/comments/3esgzc/paramount_is_giving_away_all_of_the_mission/

I believe you will need a ParamountMovies.com and UlraViolet account (if you dont have them already).

Mwaaah, I prefer more in-depth Q&A's ;-). The presenter of this event also presented the "SPECTRE"-announcement last year, December 4th.

I must say, I'm starting to become more and more an "M:I"-fan as well:

@Gustav_Graves, that's why I can't watch any American late-night TV shows, they're all gimmicks and quips and one-liners and there's never any proper interviewing.

Nice to hear that Macquarrie has a few twists in store for us too! (If the reviews are to be believed.). I suppose that's not surprising from the man who wrote The Usual Suspects.

Maybe I didn't read it thoroughly enough but the only time this reviewer mentions Bourne is in the title of his review. The fact that he has to name drop Bond and Bourne in the title says it all. He maybe looking forward to MI more so than SP which is fair enough but to say the series is the best ongoing action/spy series is a joke.

I'm seeing it at 8 PM on Thursday with a friend, and I cannot wait! I'm hoping it's as great as these reviews are making it out to be, because the trailers certainly look that way. I'll post my thoughts on it as soon as I'm home.

Very nice. The film sounds like it's going to be great. Will be catching this by week's end. Glad to hear how great Cruise is and how he's a credible action star who seems to be getting better. This is all good competition to keep Bond on his toes and to keep Craig in the role for as long as possible.
