While Tom Cruise's 'Edge of Tomorrow 2' idea is "locked and loaded," it seems that 'Mission: Impossible 6' is already coming together with some very, very good action sequences. This article also explains a stunt that was going to be in 'Rogue Nation,' but was too complicated and expensive. Perhaps it'll show up in the sixth installment?

Oh that sounds really "mission impossible-y"...I am now pretty sure they'll do it for the 6th one....judging by RN I think the 6th one should be:

    PTS.

Intro to the story and the villain

Cool intense thriller scene (like the opera)

over the top action scene (like the scooba diving for example)

    FIghting scene

    Chase (car/foot/whatever)

over the top action scene (let's say the glassbridge thing from the article)

    Action scene.

    Ending touches to the movie.

There you have it, 2 hours and 20 mins. maybe movie.

....buuuut it's easy to just write this on some forum and it's tough to make it and to make it good and exciting for the fans

I watched this movie for the second time last night. If anything I think I enjoyed it even more on the repeat viewing. It really is very well paced and I do enjoy the tone they were going for.

Definitely my favourite of the five MI movies to date.

And I have a feeling I'll end up rating it higher than Spectre. I enjoyed Spectre but it was an uneven movie for me.

    Plus. Rebecca Ferguson.

Its impressive how much stability and momentum they seem to have and it must be easier to create a quality production whilst working in such an environment. With Bond, we will have months of debate and rumour re the cast, director , script etc etc

RN was fun to be sure, but is Hunt married anymore? At least GP showed her at the end...

I was always hoping that Ethan and Julie would end up together when his work was done. The first time I saw that scene in GP I was so struck by how much of a wonderfully touching surprise it was (I never expected it in a million years) that I teared up.

Maybe it's a generational thing, but I found 'Rogue Nation' to be just an average to below average film. The plot, when there was one, was silly. Tommy Cruise needs to keep his shirt on at all times, because he's a teenage boy compared to Sean and Daniel. Rebecca Ferguson is built like a pro wrestler and has little charisma. And a haircut might be in order. The scene where she's going up the stairs in an evening gown, I thought her legs were extremely masculine and bloated. She makes the average looking Eva Green seem a beauty queen. None of them are in the same class as Ursula, Honor and so many others. The motorcycle chase scene was a CGI mess, as was Tommy's swimming exercise. But others here drool watching it.

I suppose the nerdy Brit is comic relief for Tommy, but he's no Q. The first film installment of this franchise was pretty good, but it's been progressively sliding downhill. What's next MI7 meets Bourne5?

    I know...I know...'Get off my lawn'.

@FLeiter, that's an interesting perspective. Just out of curiosity, what did you think of SP?

Fairly certain most of those scenes weren't CGI, so I'm not sure where you're getting this notion.

Most of the Motorcycle scene, as well as the other sequences, are the real deal. Check from 2:50 on.

I thought SP was pretty good. Saw it twice, will buy the Blu-Ray in Feb. Not as good as 'Casino Royale' but worthy of seeing again and again. Unlike 'Rogue Nation' which didn't hold my interest. I'm probably not the age demographic for it and I understand that. But claiming that the motorcycle stunt wasn't CGI-laden is silly. Next will be someone suggesting that Tommy did hold onto the side of a plane. That's as bad as the Fast and Furious airplane fight which had a runway the distance of Rome to Stockholm.

Thanks for your reply @FLeiter. I think it must indeed be a generational thing, because I found SP rather tedious to be quite frank, despite being a life long rabid Bond fan. Boring action compared to MI-RN and far more obvious CGI. I hope such unfortunate perception reverses when the blu ray is released (due to smaller screen) but I doubt it.

Cruise is amazing for doing his own stunts, the guy has got guts. :)

Cruise held to the side of the plane but he was tied. The only CGI in that scene is the removal of the "rope" that held him. Cruise really held himself to the plane.

Oh, the old 'hidden rope trick'.

If he had taken his hands off the plane, would he have fallen? Nope.

    So much for heroic Tommy.

I don't think many of us would have done it, rope or no rope. :D
although, it might give Ryanair, ideas !

I have read he had to have special contact lens made as the air blast forced him to close his eyes plus there was danger from bits of gravel etc moving very fast. Consensus on these threads can be a rare thing but I think we have it re Cruise and his stunts - he is the real deal.

Personally, I admire Cruise's desire to give his audience something special each time.

While it's true that Cruise was tethered to the plane, accidents do happen. Even Bond hasn't been accident free (OP springs to mind).

When it comes to making movies, Cruise is the real deal. His passion for wanting to do it for real, as much as is possible, is a large part of what makes him the star that he is. I think it's popular to write him off due to his personal life and beliefs, but a lot of the time that spills into criticizing him for what he does as a film star.

I can't remember the last time I watched a Tom Cruise film and left it completely disappointed. Sure, some are better than others, but there's always something in them that makes them worthwhile on some level.

Tom Cruise is a phenomenon in that he is such a massive poser, yet is able to top his posing by his performances most of the time, and I´m not only talking stunts.

Which includes 'gravity' and other real world concepts. Oh, the tie that binds.

I had some problems with this movie, especially in its first half. But it was still pretty good.

I just watched it again on br. I thought until today that the cinematography was mediocre, but I´m starting to get the hang of it, and once you get access it´s really cool visually, almost makes me want to watch it right again :-).

Cruise did do that. Eight times, in fact.

I'm currently wathing Ghost Protocl and the Cremlin CGI didn't age well :D

Still really really good movie, even though I think I liked it way better before....will put other comments as I watch along, but I've always loved this movie. One of the best action movies...maybe ever. Action piece after action piece, after thriller scene, after thriller scene after...well you get it..full of thrills and action!

the guys who wrote the script for GP also wrote the script for the TMNT movie....while I enjoyed it....I tihnk it had a terrible script...but they had another guy that worked with them....for now I'll blame i on him :D...but I really like the script for GP

edit: The Burj Khalifa/Dubai arrival soundtrack is really nice

edit: Ha! How the hell did I forget that GP ends with them mentioning the "Syndicate".....how did Rogue Nation end? Did they kinda hint at the villain for the next movie?

No...he didn't. He was strapped on. I'm sure you think you're walking on air, if not for the floor.
