Jealous! Wish I was watching Bond in the cinema right now.

It was rather disappointing and anticlimactic be honest. It's hard to get excited about old wine in new bottles.

What were you expecting it to be? @Dragonpol

British GQ has some articles on their front page for James Bond Day.
Trigger Warning: If you hate inclusivity, you might not like all the articles they have up. ;)

I don't know exactly. I thought IFP might announce a new author or continuation Bond initiative of some kind. It seems I got my hopes up.

Same here. But at least they did announce something. I really thought Kim Sherwood’s second 00 book title would be it. Especially since it was her birthday yesterday. Or another spinoff series (Blofeld, Felix Leiter, etc). I hope that IFP takes a note from Sherlock Holmes and tries other characters from Bond. Dynamite Comics did pretty good with trying it. Ah well, at least there are other James Bond stories that we can enjoy. Happy James Bond day everyone!

Prime Video did an Instagram post for Bond Day, with a clip from several Bond films where the name of the film is said by a character. Here's a fun question:
What's your favourite delivery of the film's title by a character in a Bond film?
I think my vote would have to go to The Living Daylights. Perfectly Fleming delivered by a ruthless Tim Dalton.
I also personally really like Skyfall word association; it made for an awesome trailer moment that made me really want to know what it meant!

I thought The Sound of 007 was pretty good. Offered a few tidbits and interview pieces I never knew about but was way too scattered in its approach and I didn't really need such a heavy-handed focus on NTTD when it's about the entire franchise and its historical music. Regardless, it was good.

I wanted a new continuation author writing modern bond adventures like Gardener Benson and Deaver

    But oh well

I was a bit surprised in retrospect that NTTD wasn't played at the concert; nor was Writings on the Wall. I wasn't particularly upset not to hear them (!) but considering it was an Eon do and they both bagged Oscars you'd have thought they'd have almost been prerequisites.

Was the The Sound of 007 documentary the only footage we have of Louis Armstrong performing "We Have All The Time In The World" live? I don't think there have been videos of this performance prior.

I'm not sure but I think it's the first time I ever saw anything of his live performance of the track, just like hearing Bono perform Goldeneye - never heard that until this documentary.

And an unused NTTD gunbarrel design too!

I also was unaware that Michael Caine got to enjoy the Goldfinger theme before virtually anyone else, having it played in-person by Barry. What an experience that must've been (sleepless night aside).

It may have been some consolation to Sam Smith when he sang it at that recent award ceremony.

Did anyone notice at the very start of the documentary, when they zoom out from Billie singing, the sheet of paper on the nearest mic stand it says "Eclipse, Hans Zimmer"

I wonder if that's were the rumours started that Bond 25 was going to be called Eclipse?

All I can see are the titles for the Bonds, not the non-fictions? Still holding out hope for Talk of the Devil.

Me too, in an affordable edition. Can't stress that last part enough. :)

Yes that's a fairly well-worn anecdote; one I loved that Don Black told was that Caine once gave the legendarily gaunt John Barry an award and said "this is the first award I've given that's heavier than its recipient" :))

I think it would have been nice to interview the surviving actors about their films and their thoughts on their tenure. But I suppose some of them just want to move on from the role

When you become Bond, you are Bond for life. That’s the job. Never understood why actors who take it on can be sniffy about it.

  • A nice 4k boxset would be nice with decent extras for QOS, Spectre and NTTD.

About the only extra I’m interested in is the holy grail alternate QOS ending.

A version of MWTGG without the daft sound effect during the car stunt would be a nice redux.

I agree. They should use the Tarzan call there instead.
