This'll sadly be the first one I don't participate in, haven't read them in a few years now so I couldn't begin to make a proper ranking. Looking forward to seeing how it pans out, though!
I will rank these novels based on:
* Plot
* Characters
* Writing
* Enjoyment
* Re-readable value
* Dialogues
So here's my rankings:
1. Moonraker
2. Casino Royale
3. From Russia With Love
4. Thunderball
5. You Only Live Twice
6. Dr. No
7. Goldfinger
8. Diamonds Are Forever
9. On Her Majesty's Secret Service
10. Live And Let Die
11. The Spy Who Loved Me
12. The Man With The Golden Gun
@StirredNotShaken @MI6HQ Could you please PM your rankings as well? It’s easier to count them when I can find them all in the same place :)
What is PM? And how to do it?
I’ll send you one and you can reply with your rankings :)
Thank you.
Me too, it's probably the number one because it's really different from the film.
2. Dr. No
3. Moonraker
4. You Only Live Twice
5. The Spy Who Loved Me
6. Live and Let Die
7. From Russia with Love
8. Casino Royale
9. Thunderball
10. Goldfinger
11. The Man with the Golden Gun
12. Diamonds Are Forever
A bit unorthodox, but my honest list. Many placements super close.
@FoxRox have you sent it to @GoldenGun via PM?
Sorry to have spoiled your fun over my individual ranking.
@ColonelAdamski I’m afraid it will be too difficult to compose a general ranking if some entries appear one time less than the others. It’s for that reason that I’m always stalking the participants to include CR67 and NSNA in the other games :))
Anyway, you can always add the ones you haven’t reread where you think you’d rank them…
It really is. I guess because the books are closer in quality to one another and, because Fleming wrote them all, they are more tonally and creatively consistent, but still there are enough differences between them you’d think it wouldn’t be quite so hard.
