Nope, he is James Bond 007 and came back for one more movie, which was a great year for Bondfans.

No. Connery had fulfilled his obligations to EON over a decade earlier. As far as I know, when he stopped playing Bond for EON he never signed an agreement saying he would never play Bond again for another producer. And OP beat NSNA at the box office so why should Broccoli have minded? I think the return of Connery in a rival Bond film probably saved us from James Brolin playing Bond in OP.

Yes, there was nothing sinister about it- Connery simply needed a comeback and Bond was a sure bet. In fact, in Roger Moore's biography, Roger states that the two of them often had diner together while filming NSNA & OP and discussed who was doing what in their movie, etc. -- sort of a friendly rivalry.

Connery wasn't under any contract anymore and was free to make whatever movie he wanted.

How cool would it be for something like that to happen again?? Just imagine Craig's movie after SkyFall being announced, but Pierce Brosnan was also making a rival movie!! That would be so cool-- I was born in 1983 so I can only imagine how exciting that must have been!

I am more of the opinion that it was McClory's grudge film to make money for himself! We all know how bitter things got!

I wish George, Dalton and Brosnan also did their own NSNA versions.

Why? What could have been added to the same story or reworked? It was already told well enough the first time as it is.

I agree, but I would have liked to see them in more movies. Hopefully the could try to be a little less similar to TB. I mean, rename Domino and Largo and I´d be fine with it.

Thats a very good call. Without Connery making NSNA I doubt they would have pulled out the stops to beg Rog to come back and looking at the extras from OP Brolin was virtually on the set and just about to be announced.

You can look at it in two ways - either it would have sunk the series or we have rebooted in 85 and got Dalton or Pierce. Whilst I do think Rog probably shouldnt have stayed on for AVTAK I would leave things as they are because I couldnt bear to have OP ruined by a clown like Brolin. Theres a big difference between Sir Rog himself in a clown suit and actually casting one as Bond. Dont know what Cubby was thinking. Same with John Gavin. These blokes came within hours of being Bond. Gavin even got his contract paid up in full because they got rid of him so late.

I wonder what contact they were offering Brolin, 3 picture deal?

Thunderball. A movie so nice, Connery made it twice ;)

But seriously, I'd love to see a rival Bond movie again with Pierce or Tim come back in a one-off film. I'd be first in line!
Of course, one reason it worked last time is because Connery and Moore were close to the same age. Daniel Craig just tirned 44 and Pierce will be turning 60 in May! Maybe Craig and his successor could work- or maybe I'm daydreaming again, lol

I dread to think but I think thats what they started Dalton and Pierce on. The test footage of him is bad enough but the screen test where he meets Vijay is frighteningly bad. Was he a mate of Cubbys or something? I'd sooner have had Tomas Brolin to be honest.
Its not even like he was a 'name' that would have guaranteed big box office stateside. His CV is pretty average; Westworld and Capricorn One (both decent but hardly down to his stellar presence) and I'm struggling after that. Brolin v Connery would have been slaughter - I reckon NSNAs box office probably would have doubled on the strength of the anti Brolin backlash.

Yea, I'm not really sure of Brolins credentials, I can't see anything he has ever done which would suggest he would be a good Bond, perhaps Cubby opened his Working Actor Directory on the B's page?

Seriously-- I mean I know they thought Roger wasn't coming back, but was Brolin REALLY the best of the lot? Good god if it was him verses Connery in NSNA he would have gotten his ass handed to him so bad he would never act again!
I know Sam Neil's audition was on the TLD extras, but was he around for OP too? He would have been a suitable replacement. Or maybe .........DALTON

An act of betrayal? Idon't think it could be taken any other way. Connery never showed any dedication to the charater (DAF anyone?), and NSNA was Connery flipping the bird to Cubby.

Him or Brolin, though? Tough choice

I have thought about this before. If NSNA wasn´t made when it was, Moore would probably have done only 5 Bond movies. Instead we got OP and then a victory lap: AVTAK. Thank god!

Probably. She still looks good and is in her fifties I believe.

Yeah, she could still cameo in the films, Wilson should have a word with her! Though I doubt when Wilson gets the record for appearances in a Bond film, it will ever be beaten.

Agree. She is admittedly attractive, but I fear she would be too eager to be Dan's lover if the option of a cameo was open... X_X Things would get REAL awkward on set thereafter.

70- I've never even seen a picture of her. Well I probably have at some point but can't really remember what she looks like. I hear she likes Craig ALOT though, so like Brady said, could get awkward.

For me she's the ultimate Bond MILF! I respect her very much, and also his father, but she's nevertheless very hot!

She likes him A LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOT. At the Skyfall press conference it felt like she was coming on to him a bunch for some reason. Anyone else feel this??

I honestly don't believe I've ever seen her either, at least not at a time when she could of been considered as a Bond girl, I know Bond producers and other personnel have had cameos in past outings, so therefore it makes sense she could of appeared at any given time, so thesis would seem accurate

She'd be a pretty good Rosa Klebb.
