Connery is the definitive Bond but I grew up with Brosnan as Bond, and he was the image used for all the video games of the 90s and early 2000s, as well as any "shadow images" of Bond used for any other promotional material. But since Craig is the current Bond I also picture him.
I'd agree with Disco here. No one person comes to mind, if anyone it's the current Bond. I'm more inclined to picture the world of the Bond films or Fleming's novels.
I've started reading Fleming's Bond novels again (in no particular order), trying specifically to keep track of what incarnation of Bond I instinctively picture over the course of the book. Diamonds Are Forever broke down as follows:
Daniel Craig ≈ 5%; mainly during the dinner with Tiffany Case towards the end of the book.
Sean Connery ≈ 10%; most memorably (but not only) during the taxi chase.
John McClusky's version ≈ 85%; pretty much everywhere else.
but when i hear bond i imagine some tall (not too tall) guy in tuxedo, with black tuxedo.
with other words guy who is dressed to go to party but is ready to kill you if he had to do that.some mix of connery and brosnan
versions of them
@JobeGDG you must get the omnibus Volume 1 and 2. Both very good books and of course a good excuse to have what will be 6 or 7 books compared to the 17 there were before.
I hope Volume 3 is announced soon.
When I read the books I have a face that I picture, but it is not that of any of the actors (but Connery and Dalton would be the closest).
In terms of audio, that reaction is pretty much summed up by this... B-)
James Bond, that is! The character that's been my hero for 21+ years!'. You
know?
I'd agree with that St. George. When I hear that name I can't help but say "Yes!" to myslef and "and I'm a very proud fan - what an amazing character he is".
Maybe I even picture Fleming above everyone else.
Actually to be honest, i dont visualise any of the actors who've played him, anymore.
Bond has had so many faces now, that when i hear his name, i just see a vague image along the lines of Flemings description.
