Yeah the learning here has been brilliant, even in posting a new location for a round; the research is so fascinating. I want to open a bar here in Vancouver called "World Without Want" lol
If you do, I may even consider finally coming to Canada. Don't take my word for it, I'm sort of tired of traveling overseas in general. But I'm glad you're enjoying this as much as I do, though with a bit of less involvement...and in spite of you having started the thread.

I'm not on the forums nearly as much these days, and I'm also not smart enough to be contributing to this thread as much as some others here :)) but I'm glad for everything I've learned from it.

Yes, and the concept only works if a certain number of members share it and hang on. As I said, I think the number of locations that I can find dwindles, and I wish that more members join in on this to keep this alive.

@goldenswissroyale - in spite of Nick and me having had an extra round, you are not just welcome but kindly requested to post the next one to keep this going. I must say (as one may have realised) that this is one of the most interesting threads for me, getting to know about locations (and their stand-ins) one has never heard of before.

I have one in mind but don't have enough time right now. Maybe tomorrow...it is indeed a great game, although I'm not very good at it.

Take your time...as long as we know it's coming :-).

And in the mean time, please all feel free to revisit the quarterframe game on page 2. It is not that difficult with my hints, honestly!

That's the hotel from Quantum isn't it? The nice one obviously :))

I hoped this would last a day or two...
You are right @CharmianBond , well done.
It is the Ministerio de Cultura in Panama. I expected this to be in the middle of the city but it is next to the sea. And obviously, given the name, it isn't a hotel at all. I don't know if they also filmed in the inside but I guess not (?)

Oops, sorry but the Craig era is my specialist subject 😅 Although I don't know where the interior was filmed, I imagine the room was at Pinewood but constructing the whole lobby just for that swish parkour Bond does seems excessive. It is a beautiful bit of architecture and they match it well to this building.

Anyhoo praise for QoS aside, here's the next location. It shouldn't be too hard if you subscribe to a certain person's newsletter.

This is obviously Barcelona, but I have no idea so far what the Bond location is. Must be literary. "SeaFire"? (Haven't read it, just found that it has at least Spain as a location.)

It's certainly Barcelona. Both buildings pictured are explicitly named in the book so I'll accept either. So yes literary but not SeaFire.

After finding an article in Català and half-way understanding it, I suppose it must be "Double or Nothing". Which of course I also haven't read. Which two of the (at least three identifiable) buildings are mentioned? The Venetian Towers and the National Palace/Art Museum of Catalonia?

Alright I didn't think of the towers, that's on me. I'll take the name of the building in the foreground on the left or the name of the hill the museum is on.

That's (part of) Fira de Barcelona (Barcelona Fair), and the hill is named Montjuic.

There we go. The Spanish edition of Double or Nothing, was released a couple weeks ago so Kim Sherwood was doing some press in Barcelona. In the novel, Montjuïc is where 007 and 009 meet two assets, things don't go according to plan and the result is 007 goes missing.

    Over to you, JW.

OK, yet another literary location. Fire away. I had to pixelize some writing above the columns (on, what I understand, is called the epistyl) that would give it away immediately.

I'm very bad when it comes to buildings only mentioned in books without an image to store it in my brain.

I can see what you're coming from, but most of those novel locations can be found on the internet. (Besides, I wouldn't claim that I can recall all movie locations just for having seen the film, either.)

I'll be the taker: This is Jacksonville train station from the novel LALD. Details can be found in this MI6-HQ article.

I wasn't aware of that MI6-HQ article but found the image elsewhere, but yes, of course you are right, @zebrafish. What I pixelled out across most of the peristyl was the inscription "Jacksonville Terminal". Today it is some sort of convention center.

Leaves you with finding the next location.

This is a literary location from a Fleming novel. There are a few fan sites discussing this venue and its offerings. Of course it's the building in the middle background.

Looks like a French château, in the sense of a wine-growing estate, with someone having built something banally modern around it (production facilities?). It isn't Taittinger, that château is much more imposing and doesn't have those glass palaces around it.

You are correct with the country, but it is and was not a château. (why do I long for a glass of red now?)

Thanks (it just oozes Frenchness, and there is a sign saying "visiteurs - livraisons" on the right gate pillar). Still I have no idea just WTF it is.

The modern buildings are a savings bank, by the way, but I don't believe that helps!? The building in question served a different purpose in Fleming's time and in the book.

"Bond would have liked to stay outside [Orléans] and sleep on the banks of the Loire in the excellent Auberge de la Montespan, his belly full of quenelles de brochet." Now part of the headquarters of the Caisse d'Epargne Loire-Centre, in St Jean de la Ruelle west of Orléans. Your hint with the savings bank worked miracles, it is a rather obscure place both in the novels (this is the only mention even in GF) and the Web.

You are a helluva detective! Great work here, @j_w_pepper ! How on earth did the savings bank help your investigation? Was it a quick orientation guide for checking French novel locations on Google Earth?
