    I'm all into those "quick" elimination games, but does anyone really expect that Desmond does not take the top spot in the end? I don't.

    I wouldn't worry too much about it as technically Peter Burton didn't actually play Q but rather the armourer Major Boothroyd from the Dr. No novel. The idea to merge Q (who wasn't a character in the Bond novels though Q and Q Branch are mentioned) with the Major Boothroyd character only came to fruition properly with the casting of Desmond Llewelyn in the role from From Russia with Love onwards. I think Goldfinger was the first film where Llewelyn's character was referred to specifically as Q. Q was later referred to as Major Boothroyd in The Spy Who Loved Me, confirming that the two roles had been merged for ease of reference.
