A thread dedicated to Roald Dahl. I wish he would have novelized his script of You Only Live Twice. My favorite books of his in no order are George's Marvelous Medicine, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, Charlie and the Great Glass Elevator, and The Twits. Great movie material for them all. Like Ian Fleming, his work should NOT be edited for modern audiences.

I like Roald Dahl's adult short stories, many of which were adapted for TV in anthology shows like Way Out and most famously Tales of the Unexpected which ran from 1979 until 1988. His short stories can now all be bought together in a two volume set. I had a thread here on that topic once but it failed to get much traction unfortunately.

I remember the stories about a secret restaurant serving a specialty for one particular guest, and the other one where the bee-keeper's baby is fed gelee royale, to stunning effect. Brilliant stuff!

I am honestly looking forward to Wonka later this year. It does sadden me that Charlie and the Great Glass Elevator never got a proper screen adaptation, it could have worked as a sequel to the 2005 version.
