Sean was like Lazenby at Piz Gloria during the filming of DAF. He was always surrounded by the ladies.

Yes, but then every Bonds did when they're surrounded by ladies.

Moore also did in Octopussy, at every moment, he's always surrounded by ladies ;)

Some really great autographs throughout there. I came close to getting one from Bruce Glover once (actually managed to talk to him quite a bit on Facebook over the years and we've been in one of those "poke wars" on there for close to a decade now).

That's quite an interesting one since it's an often-repeated fact by various sources that Connery and Maxwell were never on set together for this film, and yet clearly, they were.

Poor Maxwell had it in her contract for this film that she was to get whatever wardrobe Moneypeny wore was hers. Then the film only featured Moneypenny in a customs official uniform.

And so we say goodbye to Diamonds Are Forever, and the Sean Connery era
    (but never say never)
and move onto the eighth film in the EON James Bond film series and the first to star Roger Moore.

Personal favourite from Moore's era. One of the best soundtracks. Bond wearing a Tissot during the boat scenes rather than the Rolex. Samedi should've carried an MP40 in GE64 like he did on that poster. We're gonna need sharks or snakes in the next era, I've missed them.

This hurts me a bit, Live And Let Die means Roger Moore leaving his role in The Persuaders as Lord Sinclair.....😢

Whoever made the creative decision to not give Roger's Bond the same characteristics as Sean's was brilliant. I think that undid Lazenby it always felt like he was a holder or a carbon copy of Sean as Bond. No martinis, tuxedos, ending scenes with Bond without a Walter, I could go on. It really helped put Moore into a character and gave us a fresh new take. One wonders if the producers will do the same for the new guy taking over from Craig?

Yes, I may agree with you here in regards of tropes like martinis, tuxedos, and etc (although from some Behind The Scenes facts, Moore was also meant to wear a tux in the film too but it didn't happened:
    https://www.bondsuits.com/moores-unused-dinner-jacket/).

(And he did also drank a martini with Solitaire at Kananga's lair in the finale) and like what I'm always saying, in terms of Bond portrayal, Lazenby did had the human and vulnerability at least (something that Sean Bond really lacked), and that still made him a bit different.

And they've did inserted a bit of Connery Bond in Moore in TMWTGG (his treatment of Andrea Anders comes to mind, and some dialogues).

And even when after Moore left, Dalton in TLD still gathered some of the Moore leftovers, like one liners and jokes, and some action sequences, that's why I really think and felt that TLD was in some ways, still a Moore Bond film.

That's the thing when the actor stayed longer in the role, like Moore and Connery having an effect on Lazenby and Dalton's films.

And I think the same would be said for Craig, especially in this time and era (and the fact that he stayed in the role for so long)? I think the next Bond may still have some Craig leftovers.

Lazenby orders a martini, wears a hat, wears the same sunglasses as Connery Bond. He has the gadgets of previous films. Moore's Bond wasn't seen ordering a martini until Spy. He never wore a hat like Connery Bond. He did use the Walther PPK in LALD and in fact it was crunched by Tee Hee in NYC.

How is Lazenby human and vulnerable? I don't see it except for the ending of the film. Watch Connery in TB getting chased by Fiona, watch Connery handing Domino her brothers effects and notice the hand shake. Look at his face in TB when he thinks Largo is going to kill him. FRWL when Klebb is about to kill him. FRWL when Grant has him on his knees. Lazenby was merely playing Bond as Connery would play Bond. The audience is left to compare and Lazenby isn't the actor that Connery is and doesn't have the charisma of Connery.

Sorry for getting us off course. I will wrap up by saying whoever made the decision to have Moore's Bond be different was very smart and set Moore up for success!

Moore's Bond did had a drink with Solitaire in the finale of LALD, it's even seen in pictures (I'm assuming it's a Martini).

    Live-Let-Die-1973.jpg

The vulnerability of Lazenby that I'm pointing out is the falling in love thing, Connery's Bond never showed it, so that falling in love thing is what makes him at least a bit different, he's soft towards women, compared to Connery's version which was tough towards women.

But it's not a problem for me.

And again Moore did a Connery Bond impression in TMWTGG, (the way he treated Andrea Anders and some of the dialogues, it felt a bit closer to Connery's version).

TMWTGG is Moore's attempt at doing a Connery Bond, so at some point, they've still made an attempt to have Moore do a Connery Bond, and as the box office showed, it's a failure.

But as you said, it's smart (again, except TMWTGG), that's still makes the franchise survived after all, Moore made Bond survived in the 70's, just like how Brosnan survived Bond in the 90's.

Wrong thread for such discussion @SIS_HQ
Also, the image you provided from LALD with Bond and Solitaire, they're drinking champagne, not vodka martini's.

Moore looks very fresh faced in these pictures (as he does in the movie). It's hard to believe he was older than Connery.

I shouldn't have to do that, but may I recommend the diary Roger Moore wrote about the filming of this movie ? Bought it in the seventies (well, the french edition - yes, it exists), and it's still on my James Bond shelf.
