I kinda hope to sell these photos as prints one day so I'm very skeptical about uploading them where I may lose any rights or someone could claim later they own it and challenge me. But I will investigate this, seems convenient for most other photos, thank you!
Update: OK I have one for you all! Enjoy! Here's stunt driver Mark Higgins at Stowe circuit sometime in 2019:
Photo: Justin Westbrook
The roll cage indicates this is one of the rebodied BMW-powered carbon fiber DB5 shells. There's video of my interview with him but it's unlisted and I'm not sure if I share that it will be viewable by others?
Shot on film, likely Pro-Image 100 stock pushed a stop for punch and contrast, on my Voigtlander Bessa R2.
Edit: I've made the video public for a time. Will make it unlisted again eventually. Enjoy while you can, please be nice about my appearance or ignore it altogether; Higgins interview is included in this:
Oh that's a good point yes; I don't know about that so don't risk it!
Great video, I really enjoyed that. Nice to see that you enjoyed the V8: often folks say how rubbish they are to drive, so it's nice to see it's actually not all that bad!
I am very jealous at your getting to have a go on that stunt car though, it looks an absolute hoot.
I have a good selection of photos so one won't hurt. And thank you! The stunt car was life-affirming. Literally will likely never drive another like it, and I'm one of a lucky few. Probably few people have driven those than been to space, at least for now.
I watched with a smile on my face (and felt quite jealous too, 😂)!!!
Thank you! I was much happier back then, this was before the delays etc. of Covid. I'm glad you enjoyed and I could finally share. I left that job during the pandemic and so the content I captured never ran anywhere (yet ... stay tuned).
I happen to be headed to an Aston media party in NYC tonight, very casual though. Just mostly hanging out with my colleagues.
The event was as Aston thing (obvously with some sort of permission from Eon as I'm not sure who actually owns the carbon fiber stunt cars, I imagine production does). The real DB5 was loaned from a private owner for that specific event and they wouldn't say whether it'd been in any of the films, nor if it was original spec. It was a small event for media (they were also hosting new Aston 707 SUV owner test drives that day on Silverstone proper). I was there with Autobild and Top Gear and Car And Driver (and one other I don't remember; I was with Jalopnik at the time).
Thank you so much for sharing. B-)
Oh that's very interesting, thank you. I remember seeing a few pieces from other journos from that event; very interesting the DB5 was a loaned car. The V8 must've been from the film though?
Interesting question about who owns them; it looks like this one was auctioned by AML rather than Eon, so I guess the cars may well have been owned by Aston. I guess it's a bit more of that shady accounting you were saying that Jaguar Land Rover do: they don't actually pay for product placement but they supply an awful lot of stuff to the production gratis, and the costs for Eon to have made those DB5s on their own would have been sky high, I'd imagine.
(I find it quite funny that in the listing to actually buy a car they're still refusing to say what the donor car underneath is! If I were buying it I'd hope they'd tell me! :D )
I'd rather have the film be all set in Jamaica. I bet there's a lot of great footage that we didn't get to see. I'd rather see Bond smoke that cigar and feed that cat with the fish for an hour and then roll the credits. I would've applauded NTTD standing up. And that spear gun scene would've been a killer. Wasted iconography, if you ask me.
Also, doesn't it seem that NTTD was ages ago?
That's from the ending, when she's standing on the rocky island with Madeleine and Mathilde. I'd imagine it's just a safety thing, lots of holes and gaps that someone could fall into that'd require an expert to assist or something. That, or they were planning on filming more that didn't make it into the film.
Holy Moly! She is such a beautiful lady, a shame her part was so short.
But her legs are not! 😁
Yeah, she’s an absolute stunner. She’s the absolute highlight of the film for me.
Same here. And she is probably the only one among the actors that was allowed to show her absolute joy and fun in playing her character in the final product. (With apologies to Ana, the cutest Bond girl in this film is Lisa-Dorah... Quite a talent as well.)
Every day is Ana de Armas Day in my book!
She shows no respect.
For example: Marlohe is also very beautiful but I didn't like her look in the casino scene in SF. Since this was her longest scene, this bothers me every time.
