Would you rather Bond return to his cultural knowledge OR Bond return to the one-liner?

    Live.

It is less used than Gold.

I'll be glad if the title doesn't include "kill" or "die". They should have retired those words after the Fleming titles had been used up.

But I guess "gold" seems more overused to me than "live". "Gold" always gives the impression of cashing in on the memory of Goldfinger.

I think those words are now officially Bondian words. So I think they should be kept. That's why other films hardly use it, because they now associate them with Bond and Bond only.

Goldfinger, The Man With the Golden Gun and GoldenEye. It's more than some, but I don't think it's overused.

That said, I still think there's other words that imply glamour, luxury and wealth that can he used.

Good stuff and yes when you deep dive into the titles you do see some words come up more often.

Lets dive into literary Bond. We have been waiting since 2022. The Ian Fleming Publications has not announced or hired anyone to write a new novel.

I have a question about the next literary adventure and book:

Would you rather the next Bond novel set in contemporary time OR set back in 1950's-1960's?

Since Benson, most of the authors have set Bond in the 50's and 60's. Jeffery Deaver was one of the few recent novelists who have tried to base in modern times. He even created a new back story that fit with the times.

The most recent author Anthony Horowitz based his trilogy in the 50's and 60's mainly due to his using abandoned Fleming written works.

What would you rather see happen next with literary Bond?

Contemporary. I want to see some creative ways Bond can adapt or stay relevant in this world.

    Personally, contemporary.

Wouldn't mind a period TV series adapting the novels more closely though.

Do as the films do, put him in the present without recreating his history, which is why I didn't care for Carte Blanche. The less I know about Bond's past, the better. I don't want more of Higson's Bond.

Contemporary. That's how Fleming wrote him. When authors (namely Sebastian Faulks) set Bond in the past, there's less creative risk with the story. A Bond book's legacy is more of a challenge when it's set in the present day. It's always a bolder choice. And I like Solo and the Anthony Horowitz trilogy. At least the spinoffs are present day.

I'm really of two minds about this. I'm not big into continuators to begin with. I read both Carte Blanche and Trigger Mortis and found them both underwhelming.

On the one hand, I find contemporary Bond novels redundant as we have the films already. But period pieces lack authenticity and they easily risk becoming bad historical fiction rather than spy thrillers. By default, I'd say contemporary, because then the novels suffer less from comparison with Fleming.

I guess because Gardner continued on with the Fleming Bond for his series of books we don't think of him. However when we think of a Bond that was doing missions in the 50's and still doing missions in the 90's was a bit of a stretch.

I rather enjoyed Horowitz's books and thought they all added interesting adventures to our super secret agent.

I think I would like a contemporary Bond in the books again. It seems like a long time has passed and I would welcome a return to modern times.

Since we seemed to have closed the book on the setting of the next novel...see what I did there?...lets move on to another topic!

Would you rather Bond movies are always available on Amazon OR Bond movies only available for short duration on Amazon?

Right now we seem to be blessed to have all "official" Bond movies on Prime and they even did some limited extras. However if history holds they likely will be removed from Prime after a short spell.

But doesn't it make more sense to get casual and new fans interested by having them always available for streaming? Or do you prefer that they are on for a short while and then pulled off?

What makes the most sense to you, or as a way to attract more fans to the series?

I don't care if they're available for streaming at all. But I'll really be pissed if they won't come on disc any more one of these days.

I believe that day may be coming quicker than we think. Sadly I think the days of physical media are numbered. I hope that I am wrong on this.

Once free and accessible, that should be the way.

Lets dive into the world of Bond women. They have had some wonderful skills and unique talents.

Would you rather get a Tarot card reading from Solitaire OR a skating lesson from Tracy?

Feel free to take into account the woman, the activity or anything else and decide which one would you rather do with these charming ladies.

A woman that can see the future and predict your life? Add in her beauty and charm and it might make for an wonderful encounter.

A woman that can teach the fine art of skating! Fashionable and stylish this woman is a no nonsense female who would make the lesson fun and challenging.
  • Once again I will proudly proclaim how greedy I am as an individual and say that I will take both! 😁

    Good day Gentlemen!

I already know how to ice skate, so I'll get a tarot reading from Solitaire.

Hopefully the future sees one of us in the upside-down position! ;)

I like what @007ClassicBondFan said, and it certainly was a consideration, but I melt for Tray, so, please, put me on the ice with her (perhaps the crispness would stiffen me up a bit (oh, damn))…

Solitaire. I can get a skating lesson from my wife.

I'd be wary of Solitaire's readings of my future, but I can't skate, roller or ice. But with her I'd be a willing learner.

    😂 I love it, 😂!!
  • It's got to be Jane Seymour or nothing. Easily one of the favorite Bond girls of the entire franchise. I'd like to think she could do more (for me) than just read prophecies from a card deck in this instance but we'll let it rest. Can't really skate or wish to try also so guess there's only one option here.

OHMSS is my favorite Bond film, and I just finished watching her in "The Fear Merchants" episode of The Avengers this morning as I was house cleaning. Therefore, there can be only one answer ........

While I have no desire to skate, I'll fake it somehow. :x

Wonderful responses! I must say I wasn't sure how the answers would be for this one. Nice to see both women getting some love.

I think I would be taking a lesson with Tracy. As a Canadian that can't skate her beauty and grace might just be the thing for me to learn. The picture from @Dwayne might have nudged her over the top for me. ;)

    Okay lets do another one!

Share a Turkish coffee with Kerim Bey in his office OR share some Sake with Tiger in the subway?

Would you rather enjoy some Turkish coffee with Kerim Bey. He's a great storyteller and has a love of life that is contagious.

    OR

Would you rather head into the private subway system of Tokyo and share some sake with Tiger. Tiger has a lust for life and seems to live the high life in a great city.

So which one would you rather share a drink with?
  • Tanaka because he's an articulate well educated individual that provides both assistance and hospitality. That's not to say Kerim can't do the same or is unable but given the choice I'd take the Japanese trip and ride the subway he can provide.

Tanaka just seems better company with all due respect to the other.
