Would you rather Bond return to his cultural knowledge OR Bond return to the one-liner?

Casino no doubt. I love OHMSS, but CR is not only my favourite Bond film, but it's one of my favourite films of all time
  • I feel like this question may already have been posed previously. I’d pick Majesty’s myself.

Definitely OHMSS. Definitely closer to a time period less removed from the world Ian Fleming lived in. More classic elements like Bernard Lee's M. Also Q and Miss Moneypenny in her finest hour in the series. And of course the music of John Barry. Just more classic all around to me.

OHMSS for me, closer to the book, more believable romance, more accurate in the time period, John Barry's score, cinematography, Best Bond Girl, while still keeping the classic Bond tropes, a balanced tone of grit, outlandishness, romance, mystery, humor, thrill and action, there's Q, Moneypenny and M, and that powerful ending.

Both great films, and it really depends on my mood if I’m honest. For the rewatch factor/what I’d rather sit down on a weekend afternoon to watch though I suppose it’d be CR.

Yes, I feel the same. Equally love OHMSS & CR. They make a terrific double bill. Add FRWL as a triple bill and I have my 3 fav Bond films.

CR is excellent, but I will always prefer OHMSS over it. It is so much more subtle and elegant in execution.

Toughest one yet, CR is superb, but OHMSS is my number 1 Bond movie, so have to go with it!
So looking forward to watching it at Christmas, its like a Premiere every year!

They both are in the far upper range of Bond films, though CR has the clearly better Bond, which I find to be the decisive factor why CR is better. But since it's Christmas time, I'll pick OHMSS for a change.

Update more than ten hours later: We did indeed watch OHMSS tonight, so that Christmas box has been ticked.

CR ranks 3rd and OHMSS ranks 4th, so CR would be my pick. However, they are both so close it could change on any given day.

CR. Didn't even have to think about it.

Same opinion. OHMSS is my favourite Bond movie and probably the one I watched the most. As much as I like CR, it's not even close.

Today I'll go for ohmss. Although Craig made a fantastic film and my no1 is his, I prefer ohmss for the lack of too much unnecessary violence. It's part of modern filmmaking, I know, but the adventures in ohmss show less is more sometimes. The crane jumping in cr (still one of the most awe inspiring stunts) would work even better without the bullet-rain in the embassy. I.e.

OHMSS for me. Not only is it a classic Bond utilizing all the classic tropes but it is one of my favorite films of all time. And that's coming from someone who grew up on the Connery films.

Interesting answers and yes we had pitted them before but I believe it was from a perspective of debuts of an actor in the role of Bond.

Lets move to a whimsical would you rather next. A few of the films have had Bond square off against the villain in a "friendly" game or sport. Often the villain will cheat, or attempt to cheat to win. Bond always seems to rise to the occasion and best the baddie, all the while smiling, after all this is friendly competition.

So lets see how the community feels about this one:

Would you rather play backgammon with Kamal Khan OR ride horses with Max Zorin?

Both men demonstrate a willingness to cheat to win. Would you rather face off against a baddie and use your brains? Or face a baddie in a more physical game.

Have some fun with this, give us your reason for your choice of game and foe!

I've never played backgammon. I've ridden many a juiced-up horse over and under and through moving obstacles while being chased by complete morons, but never backgammon. At least the latter could win me some rupee.

Backgammon with Prince Kamal Khan of course ;)

Put me on a horse any day.

Good stuff, I am thinking a game of backgammon is less likely to result in a broken leg, maybe just a broken die! LOL

Since it's the season and we have had a character named after the holiday I need to ask the following:

Would you rather spend Christmas with Ruby Bartlet OR Doctor Christmas Jones?

Ruby, that working class girl from the chicken farm. Good with lipstick and a wicked sense of humour against a nuclear physicist who didn't like jokes and wasn't conversant in spy.

Who would you rather spend Christmas with? Ruby on her chicken farm or Dr. Jones in Turkey?

Maybe the whole thing is fowl, what with chickens, turkey and the like! LOL!

I debated whether to use Tracy but thought it would not be a good debate, on second thought maybe I should have gone with my gut!
  • Christmas since she’s literally Denise Richards. Though I’d bet Ruby would be “warmer” company than Christmas.

As much as I love OHMSS, Ruby never really grabber me. I'll go with Christmas because of her brilliant mind.

Ruby has never done anything for me, so it would be Christmas in Turkey for me.
